Summary: Cyndi is amazing live!!!
Review: Hey all!

Here's my review of the Cyndi Lauper "At Last" DVD.
I can't get over how good Cyndi looks, sounds and dances, on stage. She seems more like 18 than 48 years old!

Her Montreal performance of the "At Last" concert was nothing compared to this DVD!
What a fantastic woman Cyndi is!

For those of you who haven't been to Cyndi's "At Last" tour, You MUST buy this DVD!
It's packed with so much energy and excitement.

I must admit...Right now, I don't particularly care for the "At Last" CD, compared to the DVD.
Cyndi's voice is more powerful and true, during this concert.
For the title track, Cyndi outdid herself 300%.
She stunned me, from the moment she walked out onstage, both at the actual Montreal concert, and on the DVD.
I've already watched the DVD 3 times in 3 days!

For those who aren't particularly in love with Cyndi's "acoustic" voice, i think you'll be amazed at just how well she pulled off this live concert DVD.

My favorite parts of the show are:
At last (because Cyndi sounds so much more "in tune" than on the CD)
Stay (Cyndi's comedic "explanation" and her interaction with the band)
If you go away (The dark, deep feeling of the song)
She Bop (the intimate, closeness of Cyndi & band)
Sisters of Avalon (I love everything about this song)
True Colors (The story behind the song is very sentimental)
Shine (What a powerful song!)
Unchained Melody (the images while Cyndi's singing are great)
Time after time (an upbeat touch has been put on this song)

That makes almost half of the DVD really worth watching, even though the whole thing is great.

For those of you who really mocked the "At Last" CD, I think you'll be more happy to have the DVD, considering Cyndi doesn't do anything boring during the concert.
There are definitely some "die-hard" Pop-Cyndi fans, who despise Cyndi's vocal capabilities on the At Last" CD.
Well....I think she has more than made up for any problems she may have had, in the studio.
Her live voice is incredible!

The only gripe I have regarding the DVD?
There should have been a photo gallery and maybe a couple more songs.
I noticed that they didn't put "Ballad of Cleo and Joe" on the DVD, even though Cyndi sang it, here in Montreal.

You'll notice the love Cyndi and her audience have for each other. There's a lot of contact between Cyndi and the audience, which is so cool.

Summary: Really good, but expected better
Review: I am a long time die hard fan of Cyndi's. There is nothing quite like seeing her perform live. However, after watching this live DVD tonight, I have to say there was just something missing.
I have been to 2 of her concerts in the last year and plan to see her again this August. While the singing is excellent on most of the songs, I really missed her usual mingling with the audience. Even though she did venture into the audience a few times, it still wasn't a true representation of a Cyndi Lauper concert. I miss the Cyndi with the colored hair and the fun outfits. This whole latest phase showcases her voice and shows that she has matured gracefully, yet I long to see some color in her hair and wardrobe. Enough with the black clothing already. During Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, she looked quite bored actually. I also would have appreciated some other tour footage in the bonus materials highlighting shows over the past year or so. Now that I am done complaining, I have to say the stand out performances were "Walk On By", "If You Go Away", "All Through The Night", "Shine" and "Unchained Melody"
Don't get me wrong, I would see this woman sing in a garbage dump and gladly pay a hundred bucks to do so.....but the DVD still doesn't match the thrill of the real thing. Thanks

Summary: Ten bucks???????
Review: I can't believe that's all this DVD is going for. Bless you, Cyndi!! There's so much on this DVD, so much quality and laughs and tears, that I can't believe it's not selling for double the price.

I'm not one for concert videos normally, and I also thought the "Live In Paris" video from years ago didn't capture the excitement of a Cyndi show. But this... This is just so extraordinary.

Cyndi is at the top of her game. That voice. Where does that voice come from?!?! My boyfriend was watching it with me and said, "She's a SOUL singer!" And she is. I love how she makes her voice sound so different, often in the space of just one verse. She had me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what note was coming next. (I was scared she was going to have a breakdown during "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" - watch out, Tori Amos. :)

What's also nice is that you can tell how much care went into the production. The colors, the angles, the pacing: it's seamless and so much fun to watch.

I just watched the whole thing, so it's fresh in my mind. Cyndi's tour of where she grew up is priceless. The outtakes made me laugh my face off. "True Colors" made me cry. The hardcore fans are going to eat this up, and the casual ones are going to have a blast discovering it.

Cyndi, thank you so much for this DVD. Your passion and talent are on full display, and I for one am deeply inspired. It's a gift to your fans - and also to your little boy. Years from now he'll be able to see and hear what made millions of us adore his mother so much.

Summary: Couldn't believe it
Review: I got this DVD as a gift and while I've always like Cyndi Lauper I don't follow her, especially now enough to know this DVD was even out. I saw her open for Cher and was amazed. But this full set was outstanding and her voice is absolutely incredible. Forget her age. If you was this DVD you definately will. She looks fantastic, moves and dances and sings her heart out. It is an incredible showcase of her true singing talent. I love this DVD and it's very affordable.

Summary: It's a Killer...
Review: Like Janis Joplin, Marianne Faithful, Chrissy Hynde and Grace, Cyndi is a true pioneer of rock. She's a tremendously powerful performer who knows how to get an audience riled up, and at the edge of their seats for 90 minutes of music that covers the entire spectrum. Live...At Last is only the second concert video Cyndi has released in her over twenty years in music, and it's a killer DVD. I think she has the best pipes in the business, and she is at her best when it she's belting out her rock classic, Money Changes Everything. She does amazing things with her voice, that would have many singers gasping for their next breath. But Cyndi charges on from one song into the next, almost effortlessly...Taking quick breaks in bewtween, to banter with the audience. She also does a gorgeous version of All Through the Night, and a harder edged version of Walk On By--one of the concert highlights....she's a great dancer in an unconventional way. Doing moves that would have a lot of people making an appt. with their chiropractors. She's looks incredible, and is in amazing shape. She's just plain fun to watch. This is a definite must have...

Summary: One of the Greatest Singers In Popular Music You'll Ever See
Review: She's an incredible talent, and has a voice that's even better now, if that's possible, than at the height of She's So Unusual. She looks beautiful,(around 25 yrs. old), and sings like there's no tomorrow. She has dance moves and a body that would make a lot of women half her age green with envy. The setting for this DVD couldn't be better. The stage is set up where there are few distractions(no overpowering sets), making sure that all eyes are focused on Cyndi. As far as her performances go, this is the best concert video I've seen in a long time. Her voice can melt your heart one minute, Time After Time, All Through The Night, At Last(an incredible update of the Etta James classic), and make you want to get up and dance, with It's Hard To Be Me, Change Of Heart, and the classic rocker MCE. She's amazing to watch. The picture quality is A-plus, and the added extras(The Stay video, Cyndi having dinner and giving a tour of her childhood home), make it even more worth while, and give real insight into what this amazing entertainer is all about. This is A Big, Big Talent in a little package, only 5'2", but Cyndi Lauper can do it all, and she's definitely having the time of her life. Happy Birthday to You Cyndi (6/22). May you Shine on forever.....

Summary: Cyndi's DVD rekindles memories from her tour and is stunning
Review: This DVD does justice to Cyndi'd live performances on the At Last tour. She did run up into the crowd a bit more at her show in Cleeland than on the DVD. Her voice is recaptured beauifully on this recording. Whether or not you saw her on this past tour, the DVD will make you feel like you were there. She converses with an audience like no other musical performer that have encountered.

Summary: Cyndi Lauper's Still Got It...and Thensome
Review: What bests describes this DVD is Cyndi Lauper as a complex mix of rock and roll queen, Janis Joplin, with a little Betty Boop thrown in for good measure. Cyndi Lauper is as unpredictable a singer, as what comes out of her mouth when she is casually addressing her audience, during her song breaks. She still has a little of that Betty Boop sound in her voice when she speaks. But watch out when she sings. I agree that her voice as never sounded more strong and powerful as it does in this concert and in this decade. This concert demonstrates that, when she's belting a showstopping rock version of Walk on By. It's the best version I've heard of this song. Kat Dyson does a fantastic job on lead guitar, along with William Wittman (Cyndi's long time collaborator). She is equally powerful on Money Changes Everything and the punk rocker It's Hard To Be Me. Another standout is the title track from her EP Shine. Beautiful vocals, and already a true classic. Cyndi had me cracking up in the bonus like-documentary, as she takes the viewers through a driving trip of her old Queens neighborhood. At one point her and her friends get lost, and Cyndi lets out more than a few expletives( the "F" word gets quite a work out from her). But, hey, it's Cyndi Lauper, so to me, it's non-offensive. I agree with the amazon reviewer that the audio and visuals are outstanding, and should be viewed in widescreen, to get the full visual effects. This is one excellent DVD that I highly recommend, and Cyndi Lauper's incredible talent is still in full force.
