Rating: Summary: SUPERB ! Review: A wonderful experience. Thirty years after her Mercury LP (Live), Melba Moore is recorded during a concert and it is sensational again. Only backed by a piano trio, she sings jazz, Gospel and soul with incredible power.
Rating: Summary: Melba Moore is a true DIVA. Review: Seeing Melba Moore live is a powerful experience!!!she soars & shines.and that voice.WOW! now w/ this release everyone will have a chance to see why miss MELBA delivers and leaves you wanting MOORE.....
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT - GO AHEAD, MS. MOORE!! Review: The only thing that needs to be said about this release is all true fans of Melba Moore (and good music) will love it. She is in great voice; and one of the things that makes a live recording oftentimes more desirable to a studio recording is the spontaneity as well as the "flaws." There was no overdubbing of vocals and you know what? -- WHO CARES?! How many people can sing like Melba? She still has the goods, while giving an emotional and spirit-filled (and SPIRITUAL!) rendition of "Lift Ev'ry Voice"; Lean on Me (Lean on Jesus); and others. BRAVO!!

Rating: Summary: A Sad Attempt Review: The past few years haven't been very good to Melba. She went through a very nasty, very public divorce from her manager/husband. She was on welfare for a minute. She was blackballed from the music industry, forced to record poor quality records on small, unheard of independent labels. I suppose this DVD is Moore's attempt to recapture the fame she experienced in the 70s and especially the 80s. Unfortunately, the results are very disappointing. First of all, I was shocked that she did not cover any of her Top hits from the 80s. She had two #1 songs and a slew of Top 10 singles in the 80s, none of which are represented here. Instead, she chooses to cover boring broadway and Motown songs. Her reading of Mary Well's "My Guy" is an utter embarrassment. And how many times must we suffer through Melba's reading of "Life Every Voice and Sing", which seems to get progressively worse with the numerous versions she had recorded. The years have not been good to Melba's voice. She sounds tired, worn, off-key ... a thin representation of what she once was. Being a big Melba fan for so many years, I have been very disappointed with the products she has produced over the past 5 years or so. I didn't think she could top her absolutely hideous holiday CD she struck out with last year. But, this DVD takes the cake! It's so sad to see an artist of her caliber career take such a downward spiral. Unless you are a serious collector of Melba paraphernalia, then I would strongly advise that you pass on this one. I would recommend buying the CD "This Is It: The Best of Melba Moore", which is a fantastic compilation CD and represents Moore a lot better than this lousy DVD.
