Summary: 3 stars, but buy it anyway!
Review: Three stars for quality only, five stars for content. As one reveiwer here points out, the year was 1976, but I believe this DVD could have been both audio and video enhanced using modern technology. This show is off the charts awesome there is no question about that, but the sound and video quality are seriously lacking. Be that as it may this dvd is rare and special stuff and since this is the only material of this type from an historic band, I recommend it anyway. You can still see and hear what a power force the P-Funk was and remains to this day.

Review: When I first saw this DVD, it was like I was at the concert. You get all wired up and want to scream as the band prepares to take you on a journey. Oh my, and what a journey it is, you have to get this DVD. The funk master in his prime, the band....the stage decor....outfits... and then here comes the Mothership!!!!!!!!!!. I only wish that this would have showed the entire show, from Sly Stone to Boosty and so forth. Yes, I wish we could have had some footage of all band members too. Anyway, great show, great DVD, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: excellent!!! a must have for P Funk Fans
Review: without a picture, i can't be for certain this is the dvd i have. I have one called The Mothership Connection, released in 1998. it's the same footage ( i believe) that is on the other dvd under the same name.
this one is from a concert in Houston, probably around 1977. from what i can tell, it's the whole show. running time is 83 mintues. the sound has been remasted and sounds great. i recorded the audio onto cd and it sounds great!
like i said, if this is indeed the one i have, i highly recommend. i actually haven't come across the one i have. it has a different cover than the other one listed here. it is made up of stills from the video..., might want to check it out.

Summary: You would have to have been there to appreciate this DVD!
Review: Yes the lighting is poor but this concert was filmed in 1976 and I witnessed it live in Greensboro, NC and to this day, it is the best concert that I have ever attended! Parliment, Funkedelic, and Bootsy's Rubberband were the bands of 1970's. They had there own style of music, own style of stage shows, and the music had a message. But only certain people could grasp the P-Funk idealogy, but the ones that could! It was nothing but a party baby! Back then musicians played real instruments and entertained on stage but the P-Funk boys were the "real deal"! Other outstanding groups of that era were Earth, Wind, and Fire, if you ever get a chance to buy any of there concerts on DVD from that period (70's & 80's) go for it! You won't be disappointed! For all you Funkateers that are still out there, enjoy this collectors item! It is rare and worth the buy! Peace and may the Funk be with you!

Review: Yes yall, gather 'round to hear the sound of the P-Funk comin' down...this DVD ain't nuthin' but a parrrr-TAY! This DVD features material streaming straight from the Trans-African Continuum featuring the P-Funk Mob at its best.

Yeah, folk have said it all about this DVD, ranging from the fuzzy video quality to strange editing. But you, my friend, don't be dismayed; for here, "Everything is on the One." In the best of the African tradition, Clinton and the Gang fused the secular and the spiritual, the particular and the universal, prose and rhythm and poetry. The sum of the material here transcends its parts, elevating the listener/viewer to the plane of the sublime, as a participant.

The players and singers here present an unparalleled adventure of musical performance that manages to astound and uplift the audience even now. Living in Houston now, I feel like the DVD reaching across time, connecting in an intimate way. Yes, watching this DVD is a spiritual experience! This is music's "Matrix" illuminated and illustrated before the modern sci-fi trilogy epic. The Mothership predates Star Wars and definately takes you boldly "where no man has gone before." Here, in all it's glory, is an epic of aural, musical and visual proportions--a space opera, a grandiose achievement, a spectacular pronouncement of jazz, rock, blues, spirituals, gospel--FUNK.

Oh yes, read the rest, it's all very informative here. Hell, just reading the reviews give me a chill picturing the performance in my mind. All the Funkateers know what's up... But what sweet ecstasy YOU can share, if you will dare, when you make your funk the P-Funk, make sure you get cho funk uncut!
