Summary: A Front Row Seat
Review: Christopher Cross has always been one of my favorite singer/songwriters. This video captures the sharp and exacting talents of Cross and his band, stirring emotions in the listener. The video is a collection of classic Cross tunes, each one carefully woven into the next. The acoustic set offers high mention with Chris' voice as bright and clear as on the albums. The camera work is smartly done without bouncing around too much to get you dizzy. If you love his music, you will love this video, the song list runs his catalog of albums. Watch it with a date, it couldn't hurt to stir those flames. Hint, hint. The music is also available on CD as a second concert disc matched with the new "Walking in Avalon" CD.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I have all of CC's CD's and their sound quality is excellent, I even use CC's Saling song to demo detail in High-End equipment but the sound of this DVD is extremely un-detailed and poor. Christopher deserves a better, much better sound engineer. It is a real disappointment. ! !

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I was very excited when I saw this DVD in the store. Only one copy left, so I bought it instead of another title I wanted. The production quality is not good. The 2-channel audio track is horrible. Video quality is alright, but the camera work is also subpar. I could overlook these annoyances if it was a great performance. However, it seemed that Cross was struggling through the songs, occasionally off key, and having alot of difficulty with transitions. For me, the transitions were what made his studio work unbelievable in the early 80's. I couldn't even get through the entire concert in one sitting. For the die hard Cross fan, this DVD may be an appropriate purchase. However, for others, there are other concert DVDs that would be more enjoyable.

Summary: Keep listening to the CD
Review: I'm a big Christopher Cross fan and was hopeful to find this recent live concert to take advantage of the full sound that DVD can bring.

I was greatly dissapointed at the quality of the audio -- no seperation of instruments; no where near CD quality sound; poor 5.1 audio.

His performance left something to be desired too -- the camara angles where dull; his commentary in between songs was un-interesting and full of low self-esteem for what he refered to as his "five minutes of fame" career.

I guess I had hoped for something more along the lines of the quality found on the Kenny Loggins or James Taylor DVDs (both of which I would highly recommend) -- especially since this was performed within the last three years.

I got the impression that this DVD concert was released to promote his web site that he gave out (at least 4 different times throughout the concert) and to play some tunes off his poorest selling CDs to try and get more sales.

Summary: Not a good production
Review: I'm a fan of CC, but this DVD does not meet my expectations at all. It has a mediocre sound and the performance, well, he could do better.

Summary: A Truly Enjoyable Experience
Review: Note : I have the R1 version with 5.1 channel surround sound.

I am so happy that I decided to get a copy of this concert dvd inspite of the average reviews because unlike the 2.0 channel version, this 5.1 channel version is truly an enjoyable experience that one cannot easily forget due to the song selections, the sound quality and picture quality of the dvd.

If you are a Christopher Cross fan then you MUST definitely get this dvd in the 5.1 channel release version and you will never regret it.

To quote what dvdreview.com says ...

"Almost presented like a "Best Of" playlist, this DVD offers something for every fan of Cross' music, and those who want to familiarize themselves with it a little more. The 5.1 surround mix is a great addition to this DVD that blows the stereo mix that is also found on this DVD out of the water. Get this disc, and enjoy an evening with Christopher Cross. It is definitely worth it."

Tracklist : Rendezvous, Never Be the Same, Back of My Mind, Sailing, Every Turn of the World, Deputy Dan, Blink of an Eye, Swept Away, Think of Laura, Minstrel Gigolo, Words of Wisdom, Open Up my Window, Say You'll Be Mine, Alibi, Is There Something, Arthur's Theme, Ride Like the Wind and All Right

Summary: A good buy
Review: This is a pretty good DVD. Although the sound recording could be better, it is a live concert and in that, I think it went resonably well. There is decent instrument seperation and the video is very good. If you like CC, I recommend you go for it.

Summary: Outstanding Production!!!
Review: What an amazing concert this is! I am really surprised by some of the reviews that have been written. It's an excellent production and the sound quality is fine. This concert is a gem, Christopher Cross at his best. Christopher and the other musicians did a fabulous job performing these songs to the high quality standards of the original recordings. They did an incredible job. Christopher's guitar work will leave you spellbound. He's is truly one of the all time great guitarists... you'd never realize that because he's branded as adult contemporary but he really know how to rock on electric guitar yet also is a talented acoustic performer. His performance on "Words of Wisdom" took my breath away. The real treat is to hear the music that did not get radio play. It's amazing that after his early hits he continued to make outstanding records of the same caliber. I bought this video to hear the old hits but was pleasantly suprised to hear how good the other songs are. It was exciting to rediscover his music and get introduced to entire albums of other gems I had never heard before.
