Summary: Wonderful Performance
Review: Who would have thought that over a decade after they started, the Chili Peppers would still be at it, putting out the best music of their careers? The energy they bring to their concerts is amazing, they sure get a workout. The Peppers have developed a special chemistry and all four seem to have some kind of telepathic connection musically. The track listing is only one side of the story, it's great fun to hear the band relax and jam between songs. Anthony's vocals continue to improve, he really is one of the premier frontmen around, and alotta fun to watch. Flea is his usual self, laying down some of the best bass lines in rock, and looking like there's no place he'd rather be than onstage. Will Ferrell oop, I mean Chad Smith forms the other half of the Peppers backbeat, and he is hard and steady as always. I saved the last spot for John Frusciante. A few years ago it looked like John might never create music again, or even live, he was so addicted to heroin. John has turned his life around so radically, watching him is very inspiring, and he seems like the nicest, sweetest guy you'd ever meet. Now lets get back to the guitar playing, Frusciante is one of the most groundbreaking guitarists around today, along with a handful of others like Tom Morello. His solo albums add proof to this, and he is the one and only true Peppers guitarist (I love Navarro, but his play is more suited to his own great band, Jane's Addiction). Not only is Frusciante a great guitarist, he is also alotta fun to watch onstage. I caught the Peppers in Portland, OR this year, and Frusciante played like he was posessed, jumping around, banging his head and truly losing himself in his performance, giving his all to the fans. This is the best documented Chili Peppers concert, and it's one I will watch over and over. A great gift from RHCP for those who missed them on this tour (their best ever) and a DVD that will surely bring back great memories for those lucky few who caught them.

Summary: Kickin'
Review: That has gotta be one of the best concerts I've seen. I wish I was there. I believe that everyone has got to see this. Even people who aren't fans may be converted by this amazing performance. Too bad Flea didn't rip it up with any bass solos, but his trumpet solo was unexpected but good. Definetely worth the price.

Summary: Anthony, John, Flea, and Chad at the top of their game.
Review: Now I've seen a lot of concerts and a lot of concert DVDs, but of all of the ones I own, the Peppers' Live at Slane is a perfect production from beginning to end, and doesn't give you a minute in it's hour-and-a-half span to calm down.

I'm not sure if this was stated in another review, but John Frusciante is arguably the star of the show. Don't get me wrong, Flea is at his normal peak of playing and performing, and Anthony and Chad do a perfect job, but the songs in the show are filled with the normal guitar hooks, but when it comes to the solos, John didn't fail to make me stare in awe. In songs like "Scar Tissue", you can even see the other members of the band smiling in John's direction, also awestruck with his skill. For the Flea fans, however, though he doesn't have as many crazy parts like in the previous DVD releases, there's always "throw Away Your Television", not to mention a number of improv pieces.

They play in front of over 80,000 people, and don't let up for a second. My personal favorites include "Around The World", "Can't Stop", and "Venice Queen". You'll also be treated to their rendition of the Ramones' "Havana Affair". Another great thing is the tunes they play in between songs, and the jams between Flea and John. One particular high for me was their halfway-cover of "London Calling". You can also see Mr. Frusciante with a doo-wop song, somewhere within the few three songs. Also, the lines they play to open the show starts the show off right.

There aren't too many "old-school" Peppers songs, the older of which probably being from Blood Sugar, but the emotion they all put into their newer material proves they love what they're doing. It has the staples of the Peppers of the late 90's to today, with just about all of the singles, like "By The Way", "The Zephyr Song", "Under The Bridge", and "Californication".

The mood of the show is incredible, as well. As the show goes on, you'll see the day quickly go from bright and sunny, to sunset, and to night, and the boys seem to play along with the atmosphere. The 18 song setlist is well worth the pricetag, but add in the unsurpassable performace (John's face during his solos, Anthony's always physical singing, and Flea kicking his feet and jumping around like a caffeine-filled kangaroo), and not to mention perfect video and sound quality, and you've got yourself one of the greatest concert DVDs ever. I've watched it about 4 or 5 times through, and I'm far from stopping. Thanks!

Summary: The Best Live Band Of The Year
Review: The Red Hot Chili Peppers have become one of the best live bands ever, and this DVD is proof of it. The show opens with By The Way, an obviouse new favourite, and closes with The Power Of Equality, an older hit. The hilights include Under The Bridge, Venice Queen, Dont Forget Me and Universally Speaking. It also includes Havana Affair (originally off the Ramones tribute album). I think it is impossible to say a bad word about this DVD, as it is a reflection of one of todays greatest bands at their best.

Summary: amazing
Review: This DVD has a lot of jammings, and solos, that never were included in albums. In concerts John Frusciante plays always different solos. And flea is improvisating and jamming, and playing solos too. A lot. He also played on the trumpet, and really good. Flea and Chad played some jazz. And the sound quality is also great. You can hear the drums very well. Chad is just amazing in here. Such a good drummer. And scar tissue, right on time, around the world, and power of equality sound better than the studio versions. I got this dvd for christmas today, and I'm very proud that I got it. Highly recommended.

Summary: Wonderful live DVD
Review: Definately one of the best I've seen. The sound and picture quality are amazing, and the energy from the show is felt while watching this. I've been a Peppers fan since Lollapalooza 1992, and I highly recommend this item to all fans. Most of the songs performed are from the Californication and By the Way CDs. A high point for me on this DVD is the performance of Venice Queen, as most of the other songs I had seen them do live when they were in town here. Anthony and John really blow me away on that number as performed on this DVD. I love watching these guys; it's obvious that they are enjoying themselves as much as the rest of us. Really, get ths one; you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Should be a 10 star rating for this one!
Review: I'm an old school Chili fan from back in the day (Hi Anthony), and I must say they still got it! And this DVD shows it. This DVD captures the experience of their live shows to a T. Buy it!

Summary: Red Hot Chili Peppers at their best
Review: The Red Hopt Chili Peppers have become one of, if not the greatest live performers of today. This dvd captures the red hot chili peppers at the peak of their musical careers, and is a necesity for any red hot chili pepeprs fans. Although not listed, there are jams/solos inbetween the listed titles that show off their amazing musical talent. After "give it away" there is a break before they came out for the encore where chad comes out and plays a solo and flea comes out and palys trumpet with him. They did this many times on the By The Way tour and seeing them live was an amazing experience. I definitly recommend you get this dvd, it is jam packed with all of their greatest songs and its definitly one of the better live dvds out there, far exceeding their previous live dvd, "Off The Map."

Summary: No Live DVD Better
Review: This DVD is an amazing piece of work, if you weren't one of the 80,00+ people in the crowd this DVD will make if feel like you were there. I don't think I have ever seen the Chilis live like this, nor have I ever seen a live music DVD like this. It's just an amazing video, and it is ESSENTIAL for any Chili Pepper fan. If you don't have this BUY IT!
