Summary: Nice And Easy
Review: Frank looks and sounds great on this one. He starts out with Nice 'N' Easy, and that pretty much sums up this session. He has great musical accompaniment throughout. The Basie Band sounds terrific. He ends with the very old standard, Thanks For The Memory, and does a bang up job on it, with some very nice lyrics. Check this one out. You will dig it.

Review: ....Sinatra's voice is greatly improved from 1974's Main Event. "I Get a Kick Out of You" with quartet is one of his best--not to be missed. About the songs with the Basie band--check out the drummer. That's Gregg Field, who became Frank's permanent drummer in 1990 after the passing of Irv Cottler. It was a good time in the singer's professional life, a year after the top-selling TRILOGY and right after the issuance of SHE SHOT ME DOWN, a strong saloon song effort. Definitely worth acquring for song content, orchestrations and Sinatra's vocal renaissnace.

Review: Every one who buys this dvd or vsh is looking for basie and sinatra well frank and basie do 3 songs on the hole intire video this video should be called "Frank Sinatra the man and his music with the Vincent Falcone orchestra" because vinny plays with him on nearly every thing on this tape and also conducts the hole show but moving on to give my review i think its a great show, for one- frank does some really great tunes on this show, two there is a part in the show where frank does some thing with just 4 guys (Vince Falcone - piano , Tony Mottola - Guitar, Irv Cottler - drumbs and I beleave Ralf Panena on bass) the segment is the best part of the show because it shows you the side of Frank his Fans hardley ever see (The Jazzy Sinatra .) other than that there are some great arrgengments by Don Costa, Nelson Riddle, Vince Falcone,ect. I egrge any Sinatra fan to see this video just for the qaurtet segement and for franks great singing on (Best is yet to come, Good thing Going,New York,New York, and the Cole Porter classic I get a kick out of you) So in all I know will enjoy this video just as much as I did.

Review: Frank has aged some from the specials from the 1960s and early 1970s but he still has the voice and the style. It was sad to see an aging Frank though. Picture and sound quality are great and it appears to be the complete special.

Review: I purchased this video because of the title Sinatra The Man and His Music with The Count Basic Orchestra. This DVD has only 2 songs with Count Basie. I thought the complete video was with the Count Basie Orchestra. Instead it has cuts with other string orchestras. I was very disappointed in this video. I would not purchase it if you want to hear the music of Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. Instead buy the CD's.

Summary: Save this one for last....get the other Sinatra DVDs first
Review: While this, his last television special, has memorable songs and performances, many times his voice seems tired, weak, and his performance uninvolved. If you are used to his earlier TV specials, you will be taken aback by these later renditions, in which he closes off many long notes early and struggles for the high ones. The song selections are a little sub-par as well. However, when you think of his age, all in all, it is still Sinatra and that is always impressive. Sinatra fans, of course, have to have this entry anyway....just start with the earlier ones. Incidentally, there is a concert that was recorded later than this one, The Concert For the Americas... It is SUPERB! Unfortunately, it is yet to be released by Reprise on DVD. The video tape was available through a TV offer awhile back, but I don't find it anywhere here. ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ABOUT THIS>>>please email me. One outstanding performance is his rendition of the then-relatively-new NY, NY...it is everything it should be... For this alone...get the DVD!
