Summary: Not bad...Could have been way better
Review: As a Dimmu Borgir fan, I was really waiting for this one to come out. Well, let's say I was a little disappointed. First, by the relatively short (yet extremely good) tracklist (don't get fooled btw, the 2 live experiences on Disc 1 are the same, the first one being accompanied by off-stage footage inbetween songs). Second, the image quality really isn't that great for DVD standard. For all those who really think the quality is 'top notch', maybe you need to check out what DVD quality is or can be. And I'm not only referring to the Superbit DVDs out there, I'm just comparing it to a similar release. Just compare it to the Cradle of Filth opus and you'll notice the big difference. No match possible. Same for the Emperor DVD, whose picture quality is way better than this one. I mean, take a look at the Live footage on the 2nd DVD, and u'll see what I'm talking about. I'm under the feeling those "holiday-amateur" videos were put there just to fill the DVD and to make the package look complete and appealing. Third and MOST disappointing part is the sound. I'm not talking about the overall balance, which is really good (u can sense they made a tremendous effort to get a very extreme and powerful sound, no doubt...), I'm talking about the sound normalization, which is to say the sound peaks and levels. Indeed, and especially in the Wacken liveset, u can clearly notice annoying sound variations throughout the entire performance, sound level decreasing, then rising up again etc...it gets real disturbing. And whats even weirder is that if you purchase the 3CD box, u'll notice that the Bonus CD, on which u can find the Wacken liveset DOES NOT contain those annoying sound variations. They should have been more careful, and maybe multiplexed the DVD picture with the bonus CD sound or smth...

This opus is still and somehow quite enjoyable, u can go for it, but some important details should have been taken care of before final release.

Summary: I Liked It
Review: Dimmu Borgir have been a band (and a good one, too) for quite some time now. Though this DVD isn't exactly new, at the time it just came out, however, most people were saying "about time".

We all know Dimmu Borgir as one of the best Norweigan black metal bands, but do we really know Dimmu Borgir? Most people would assume they're evil and depressing people, but really, they're not. Sure, they're music's dark as all hell, but as individuals, they are quite an entertaining bunch (especially Mustis). This DVD shows a lot of their humor, like a barbecue in the Norweigan woods, Vortex sleeping on the airport floor, "broke", after their tour, a close-up of Galder's "boobs", and so on.

My favorite part of the DVD is definetly the behind the scenes footage, which is where all the funny stuff is. The DVD also featurs lives performances of "Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny", "The Blazing Monoliths of Defiance", "IndoctriNation", "The Insight & the Catharsis", "Puritania", "Tormentor of Christian Souls", "Kings of the Carnival Creation" and "The Maelstron Mephisto". If you're not big on the counting thing, that's 8 tracks. There are also interviews of each band member, interviewd individually.

My only problem with the DVD is that you have the watch whatever song before you can watch the bonus stuff. Example: If you want to see the barbecue in the Norweigan woods, you're either gonna have to watch or fast forward through "Puritania". Not really a big deal on that 3 minute song, but if it's an almost 8 minute song like "Kings of the Carnival Creation", it's quite a dilemma. However, if you're a fan of Dimmu Borgir or just a collector or a person who likes to buy random things, I suggest you get this.

Summary: Some Dissaponting Aspects, But Still A Great Dimmu Product
Review: Dimmu Borgir's latest DVD and VHS version "World Misanthrofy" is actually a pretty good buy even though Amazon.com ... gives you the cheaper version that dosen't fold out into an inverted cross and dosen't come with the BONUS CD!!! But it is still worth the cash when you weigh the pro's and con's.It is really dissaponting that the majority of the songs were off the new album "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" only because when they perfrom these songs live the keyboard effects just let you down, there is no orechstral aspect to this DVD unlike the CD.But the video quality is pretty good and the sound quality is also decent. The DVD does give you a deeper look into the band members lives which is really cool because these guys are really ... cool, but watch out for the interview with Shagrath after "Indoctrination" he dosen't speak English that well.Any devoted fan to Dimmu Borgir should surely should own this.

Summary: Good but also boring
Review: EXPIRIENCE LIVE MISANTHROPY, not ALL. the live stuff on this DVD is awesome. from Wacken and Sturtgard. but everything else is just boring. this DVD is really long with just all this random crap theyve filmed over the years. then theres parts where theyre filming a TV screen with another camera. theres some funny backstage stuff and the interviews are cool. but watching hours of Norwegian guys sit around listening to techno speaking a language i dont undersand isnt that entertaining. but the concerts are awesome. the bonus disc has some cool live stuff with the old lineup too. i reccomend this DVD to any Borgir/black metal fan. but theres only about 8 or 9 songs (n the good quality. theres a bunch just filmed off a TV screen if youre into that sort of thing), and for the money it might not be that worth it to people. but im glad i own it, i blast it all the time.

Summary: THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL METALHEADS!!!!!
Review: Man my DVD's arrived yesterday. I got the limited edition with two dvd's and a cd. The package is killer. You pull it out and it folds out to an inverted cross. Then the real good stuff is on the first dvd. It has a killer performance from the Wacken festival 2001 and another killer performance from Stuttgart, Germany 2001 as well. Great sound and picture!!!! Then it has them partying and other clips from the studio and from around the world. Dvd two has two older performances from 1997 and 1998. Plus the video for purtania and three other videos!!! GET THIS DVD!!!!!

Summary: Dimmu Borgir, for elite Dimmu fans!
Review: The video quality of the dvd is nothing impressive, nor could it be, alot of the video was shot with a bad handheald digital camera. And the sound don't impress much either. So if you are just looking for a random heavy concert dvd with super sound, don't buy this! Buy the Slipknot dvd instead!
But if you are like me: someone who is a big fan of the music and band, and want this dvd becuase it'll let you experience the band in a new way (backstage and on the road, and drunk), then this is for you. The 2 dvd's show you a great deal about the real Dimmu Borgir. The bonus cd has the supercool Devil's Path song, in a new version!

Summary: Outstanding...
Review: This DVD is a must-have for any Dimmu Borgir fan (like me) out there. Includes hour in a half worth of live footage from 1995-2001. Interviews with band members, hilarious behind-the-stage scenes, photos, home rehearsals and more. On disk 1 the live footage starts to get a tad boring towards the end so that why i gave it a 4/5, other than that, this DVD is just truly amazing and worth its money.
