Summary: Pretty Good Vibrations
Review: "An All-Star Tribute To Brian Wilson" is very much a hit-or-miss concert. There were many highlights, especially Elton John's reverential rendition of "God Only Knows" and Billy Joel's rocking version of "Don't Worry, Baby." Paul Simon's acoustic re-working of "Surfer Girl" is amazing, and Vince Gill's singing on "The Warmth Of The Sun" is spine-tingling. On the other hand, Ricky Martin can't do justice to the classic "California Girls." The Go-Go's version of "Surf City," in which they change the lyrics to "two guys for every girl," is a bad joke. The group Wilson Phillips has obvious family ties to Brian, but they simply can't carry a tune. At least Brian Wilson is in fine form. His voice sounds stronger than it's been in years. He also appears to be having the time of his life. Still, it's sad when you realize that both Dennis and Carl Wilson have passed away and can't be there to share his joy. In addition, none of the surviving Beach Boys (Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston) were in attendance or even bothered to send a taped message congratulating Brian on receiving this special tribute.

Review: A real good tribute disk. Best Buy had it on thier demo TV's for several weeks before I broke down and bought it. I feel like I got my money's worth. One way I judge a disk is it's "Watch Again" likelyhood. I'll definately do that with this disk.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: All I can say is that I was fortunate enough to have been at this concert, and it was the greatest rock event I have ever been to. The next best thing to actually being at the show is this DVD. You're sure to dig this one baby!!

Review: Amazon's specs show this DVD as a widescreen letterbox release instead of anamorphic. If you bought it in a physical store and were going by the specs on the back cover, you might have read "this film is presented in widescreen format" or something like that. The key with releases from Image, Warner, and perhaps some others is that for anamorphic releases that language is followed by "Enhanced for widescreen televisions."I agree this concert should have been released in anamorphic format, but it's fabulous nonetheless.

Summary: Excellent Concert! But is the music 5.1?
Review: As far as concerts go, this one is very memorable. Vince Gill really does provide an incredible version of "The Warmth of the Sun".... while Pauls Simon, Elton John, and Billy Joel are all sounding great. On the negative side, The GO GO's give a performance that any high school band could give further proving the point that their career was pure luck and image rather than any real talent. The picture quality is crystal clear and is all set for the widescreen format. The Dts format for sounds is great, except for the fact that it doesn't appear to be 5.1. When people come out just to talk and give tribute sound comes out of the center channel, but whenever a performance takes place the center channel goes dead and the sound is split in the front between the front left and front right speaker. Why was this done? Well that and the Go go's drop the review by a star, but overall there are many great performances on this dvd. In fact Brian, himself, gives a better performance than I was expecting. Surf's up.... You'll enjoy this concert.

Summary: Wonderful Experience
Review: Brian Wilson has shaped and changed the way music is heard and understood. This tribute DVD is one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen. Vince Gil does Warmth Of The Sun as well as it can be done, and the rendition of Good Vibrations by the Wilson Sisters and the Beach Boy's Band with the Harlem Boy's Choir is simply the finest piece of music you can imagine: the beautiful voices, the flawless rendition of this difficult work and the full benefit of the choir is not something to be missed. This is an hour and a half of pure enjoyment and completes with a wonderful performance by Brian himself. Any Beach Boy's Fan will appreciate this Video sojourn into the works of one of the Masters of Pop Music. If there is any downside...it's that this album is not available on CD audio...or I'd be giving it to all my friends for Christmas.

Summary: A Masterpeice Performance
Review: Brian Wilson is the reason I taught myself to play piano and drums. The Beach Boys are the reason I taught myself to skateboard, surf and windsurf. The first record I ever remember playing was Good Vibrations in 1966. This began a lifelong love affair with Brian and the Beach Boys. I took my little girls to see the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson last year on their stops in Houston. My 6 and 4 yearolds are now singing along! Hopefully, they will get as much enjoyment out of the music as I have. This tribute show does more than showcase the music. It really is a living time capsule for anyone that enjoys pop music. This show also brings us old and new performers paying their respect to the true legend of Pop Music! This is a sure thing! Love you Brian, and thanks for the music! Putter Withers USA
