Summary: Have to Own
Review: If you've seen Pearl Jam live before, you know that they know how to rock. The DVD does not take any greatness away from the performance. Eddie Vedder gives it his all with this must own DVD!

Summary: It's Evolution Baby
Review: This edition of Pearl Jam's Single Video Theory is a bit different from the VHS versions, though not drastically. For any fan though, it is a must have for its improved sound quality, better video quality, and little features which are not in the VHS version.

Summary: Definitive of the 90's
Review: If you were to ask me who was the band that made the 90's, or what influenced me in the 90's, it would be Pearl Jam. I believe the Yeild album to be their best so far and having the ability to watch them rehearse and just work out the songs, and interact with each other..hey, what a concept, they're real people too, not some puppets MTV put up for fame and fortune. Pearl Jam has been the main driving force for what i do, i'm now a video editor, have been for 7 yrs pro and 3 yrs in college, figure it out..'91..pearl jam..they're awesome inevery way..buy the tape if your a fan, even if your not, you will be. Crowe did an excellent job showing the lighter side(sometimes darker) of the guys. And Stone plays an awesome Strat in the video, i went and bought one just like it..Cool huh?

Summary: Pearl Jam doing what they do best...
Review: This is an intimate look at Pearl Jam rehearsing and recording they're incredible "Yield" album. The DVD does not contain chapters or extras, which I'll admit is kind of a drag. You have to start it at the beginning and just watch it. But upon watching it, you find Pearl Jam lightening up and making music with smiles on their faces as they perform. It's a great film which inspires me, as a musician, to play and write better and love what I do.

Summary: A Nice Change
Review: I was very pleased with the DVD. As a musician I found their work here very inspiring. I guess I was expecting a bunch of little kid stuff and instead found an entirely different scene. These guys seem very mature and are extremely talented players. Admittedly, I had to listen to the songs more than once to really get it. Overall I think this DVD deserves a good rating.

Summary: Die-hard fans buy it, average fan buy the VHS.
Review: I love Pearl Jam alot. I'm even in a band and we play alot of their stuff. But there were no DVD extras. Maybe a different camera angle to watch one person exclusivly for a whole song, a photo album with some of Jeff's art or photography. No 'Do the Evolution' animated video included. This was the best video and you really can't see it anymore on any music television shows. It would have been worth it to include that also. But I guess it is The Single Video Theory. Mario you aren't missing anything with the VHS.

Summary: NOT WHAT YOU MIGHT EXPECT!
Review: People looking for high-volume concert footage, or maybe secretly made videos that just didn't get released to MTV or anything like that, this is not for you (ha-ha).

This video is an intimate, engaging look at Pearl Jam in the studio rehearsing and recording the Yield album (and if I had to pick a favorite album that would possibly be the one). The members of the band speak individually about the songs' inceptions, life in the studio, life as a member of Pearl Jam, how things were and how they are. It's like getting to spend an hour or so just hanging out with the guys.

I am a musician, trying to get my own band started, and personally I found watching this to be inspirational to my causes. Everytime I watch it I get this urge to jump up, go take out a loan so I can buy up some studio time and just do it.

Surprisingly, at no time does Vedder take center stage here. Equal time is spent focusing on all five of them. My favorite insights arfe those given by bassist Jeff Ament about the intensity of playing music that you know is better than anything you've ever done before, and about the psychological power of music.

It's not the typical let's-watch-the-band-get-drunk-backstage video. It's intelligent, intimate, and most of all modest, which is a true rarity among rock and roll bands of this noteriety.

Summary: Overall okay, great for Pearl Jam fans
Review: This video gives you insight on the creative process that Pearl Jam envokes when putting together the Yield Album. Contains most songs and the evolution of the cuts on the album. Not the run of the mill music video cuts that most music selections are about. great for Pearl Jam fans

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: disappointing for real pearl jam fans
Review: Fans of Pearl Jam's previous work may be disappointed by their over-arty approach to making this video. It's style over substance, and they would have been better served making a straight concert video, because their live shows are never less than exhilarating. That's not to say I don't like the Yield album, I believe it to be their finest album after "Ten", I just find the band more interesting away from studio confines. Mediocre.
