Summary: Music 5 *'s Direction 5*'s Quality Control 0 *'s
Review: i would have loved to give this DVD 5 *'s, but after 3 different copies, THIS DVD WILL NOT WORK ON THE PIONEER DV-505 PLAYER. i've e-mailed Elektra (Bjork's US label) to point this out and have received no reply after 2 months. So, be warned, it appears that this DVD (out of the almost 100 i own) and Pioneer products do not mix! The "All Is Full Of Love" DVD single worked on my deck, but not the _Volumen_ DVD - odd...

Anyway - Bjork is great, too bad i can't revel in her greatness on DVD, but perhaps i once the DVD-ready Sony Playstation 2 comes out!

Summary: Alert: Volumen DVD will not play on Pioneer DVL909
Review: The content of Bjork: Volumen is wonderful. But please be warned that the DVD would not play on my Pioneer DVL909 combo player. I thought I'd better spread the word to any other DVL909 owners out there. The player simply freezes up after the FBI warning. At first I thought it was a defective disc, but the replacement disc did the same thing, and played fine on another player. So, enjoy Volumen, but not on a DVL909.

Summary: DELICIOUS AND OH SO GOOD FOR YOU, TOO!
Review: I have about 30 DVDs. This is the 1st that I feel compelled enough to give comment. Ever since the SUGARCUBES (and I still miss them), I've been overwhelmed by this creative mind. If you desire something with perpetual freshness (e.g.BEATLES), this is the wondergirl for you.

Defying conventions, categorizations, and even logic, Bjork along with these film directors hereby replaces and apologizes for the last 10 years of MTV with absolute brilliance.

Summary: Veljum Íslenskt!
Review: Volumen is astounding. I live in a cable-free environment and am not privy to music videos, so I had no idea what this Bjork's videos would be like. I was not dissapointed in the least. They are all very unique and fun to watch, espescially those directed by Micheal Gondry. I did not feel that Violently Happy and Big Time Sensuality were as high-quality as some of the other videos, but they are still enjoyable. Volumen is a surreal and lovely video, and it always cheers me up. For those who lurved the "All Is Full Of Love" video, and how couldn't you?, it can be found on the CD single for playing on your computer. I hope in the future Bjork releases a video w/ all the ones missing on Volumen. In conclusion: Volumen good, run don't walk, buy buy buy.

Summary: Music Video Perfection!
Review: Bjork is perhaps the best video artist of the 90's. Her videos are always ground breaking and exciting to watch over and over again. This collection is ALMOST complete. It is missing "Alarm Call" and the grammy nominated "All is Full of Love" (which is on a DVD single, get that too!). Buy this, you'll love it.

Summary: Dazzling work of Bjork
Review: Way back in 1993, an Icelandic girl-woman popped onto the pop-alternative-dance scene after the breakup of her group, The Sugarcubes. Ever since, she has released three successful solo albums and one remix album, all different in textures but are all mental stimulations and assaults on the senses. Of course, the visual compliment completes the story. With acclaimed directors like Michael Gondry and Spike Jones, Bjork further brings her singles to life, literally. Each video, beautifully shot and poigant, tells a tale. Whether aided with hi-tech special effects or unaided with just the youthful face of Bjork, her videos are excellent and visionary in every aspect! Only Madonna falls in the same league as Bjork. And I wonder why she was never nominated in the Short-Form Music Video category at the Grammys. Anyway the Grammys recognises commercial success, so how would an alternative artist be awarded? And Bjork dun need one!

Summary: Bjork - quintessential video artist!
Review: Best music videos available. Check out Hyperballad: superimpose a sleeping Bjork with a video image of a singing Bjor; falling tins and plates on the edge of a mountain vis a vis a the bright lights of a city model, pulsating as the music builds. Bjork's music is poetry and these videos do justice in interpreting them or at the very least, expose it for us to interpret in our own ways.

Summary: exceptional compilation
Review: Today video making has become an art. At the forefront of the medium are Björk's videos.

Unlike the standard videos on MTV, Björk's videos focus on creative images, senarios, humor, and emotion. The directors of Björk's video's read as a who who of the industry. This compilation is a s must for anyone into Björk, her music, or video directing as an art-form.

Seeing Volumen will show you the possiblities of video, but beware MTV will forever pale in comparison.

Summary: Breathtaking
Review: Bjork is as unconventional in her choice of video directors as she is in her choice of arrangements to accompany her singularly unique voice. These vids move from the playful to the chilling. A fine example of the of art of video.
