Summary: The Journey Continues - with a new Steve
Review: Journey was a great live band. There are still flashes of that brilliance - separate ways is great, anyway you want it, escape and some of the others. At least Neil and Jonathan are still in the band. But there's no question that it's hard to replace Steve Perry. Although the band has tried hard to find a sound-alike - there is just something missing. The sound isn't quite there. The energy certainly isn't. It would be great to see a Journey DVD - at their peak - from the Raised on Radio tour - near the end of the rope. The sound and picture quality are fine - and some of the cuts are quite well done. But Don't Stop Believin' is just not convincing - Stone in love lacks something...I'm glad to see that they are back and touring = but losing Steve Perry is a really big loss - and that is evident. (Styx has done much better in replacing Dennis Deyoung with Gowan - but that's because they still have Tommy Shaw singing half the songs. Here - there's no one else to add the old elements).

Summary: The most underated DVD concert
Review: It took me 2 years to finally get this DVD and decide for myself. What were all those critics watching when they said forget this NEW Journey?

This is the best concert on DVD today. The NEW Journey explodes onto the stage playing all their hits as if it was for the first time. The new younger members of the group have juiced up the rest of the band who are having a blast from beginning to end.

The qualities both visual and audio are outstanding. I 've watched this concert 3 times in five days from start to finish. FULL BLAST - take no prisoners.

If your a drummer like myself, or if you just enjoy intelligent music, this is a must see DVD. You will not be disappointed!

Summary: Journey is Steve Perry, has always been and will always be..
Review: I have been a fan of Journey since the 70's and no one can ever replace Steve Perry.....period. But I must admit that Steve Augeri did a wonderful job in "impersonating" Steve Perry. But there is one small difference.....Steve Perry has a higher vocal range. Having that clarified, a standing ovation should be given to Augeri as he delivered all of Journey's songs to almost perfection. Its an awesome performance by Journey especially Deen Castronovo and ofcourse Neal Schon which brought back memories of my youth days. Wish more DVD concerts by Journey will be available in the near future.

Summary: Perry fan here....
Review: Sorry, but this band should be called Journey 2 or some other name. The real Journey IS Steve Perry. I've tried to listen and watch the new lead singer do these songs, but it just isn't right. Would you go see a Led Zeppelin concert today if the lead singer was some new guy? Sorry, but the lead singer is too important of a person to replace and then go forward like nothing has happened. I bought this trying to accept the change...but I won't be spending any more bucks on the "new" Journey!

Summary: It Doesn't Get Any Better....
Review: My Journey DVD just arrived today and I just finished listening to it! Wow! It was quite outstanding! Excellent picture, excellent sound, awesome talent, and a fulfilling song list. Whether you are an "older" Journey fan or a relatively new one, this DVD is a must. I love live music videos and dvds, and this one is the now the best I own. There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a live concert where the music does not represent the music on the actual releases. That definitely is not the case here. Journey performs the songs just like they did on the initial releases, from Neal Schon's guitar work to Steve Augieri hitting all the notes "faithfully". I was not convinced that ANYONE could fill in for Steve Perry, but Augieri is unbelievably good! I'm convinced now! And Deen Castronovo provides some seriously high energy on the drums. This DVD is a rockin' good time with the Journey staple songs included, plus a few of the newer songs released on the Arrival album a couple years ago. Great music, great production work on this DVD. Go buy it now!

Summary: VERY GOOD WITHOUT PERRY
Review: JOURNEY HAS HAD AND ALWAYS WILL BE A GREAT ROCK BAND THAT YOU CAN PLUG INTO YOUR CAR AND CAN'T HELP BUT SING. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DVD FOR JOURNEY FANS EVEN THOUGH PERRY IS NOT THERE. STEVE AUGERI DOES A TREMENDOUS JOB OF RECREATING ALL THE GREAT SONGS. EVEN THOUGH TRUE JOURNEY FANS LOVE PERRY , YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES AND YOU DON'T MISS HIM. I CAN'T GIVE THIS DVD 5 STARS BECAUSE MY BENCH MARKS CONTINUE TO BE FLEETWOODS "THE DANCE" AND THE EAGLES "HELL FREEZES OVER". HOWEVER WHAT THIS DOES SHOW IS HOW REALLY GOOD NEAL SCHON IS ON GUITAR. NEWCOMER DEEN CASTRONOVO ON DRUMS DOES A GREAT JOB AND THE OTHER ORIGINAL BAND MEMBERS OF VALORY AND CAIN ARE TERRIFIC EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS BACK TO THE LATE 70'S AND EARLY 80'S. I DID NOT CARE FOR THE ADDITIONS FROM THERE NEW ALBUMA "ARRIVAL" BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION AND SHOULD NOT SWAY YOU FROM BUYING THIS DVD. HIGHLIGHTS FOR ME ARE "SEND HER MY LOVE", "OPEN ARMS", "WHEEL IN THE SKY" WHICH BY THE WAY HAS NEVER BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES BUT IS WELL DONE ON THIS DVD WITH A GREAT AND DIFFERENT FINISH. TRACKS 19/20 ARE GREAT AND TO END UP WITH "FAITHFULLY" IS ALL TOO APPROPRIATE.. BUY THIS .. YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED AND GETS BETTER AS IT GOES FROM BEGINNING TO END,

Summary: Don't Have it - Don't Want It
Review: I'm 43 years old and cannot believe you don't carry Journey WITH STEVE PERRY! THERE IS NO 'Journey' without him as far as I am concerned. Try harder please.

Summary: Don't put it off any longer, buy this DVD NOW!
Review: Let's get this straight. I was of the mindset that nobody could EVER replace Steve Perry, frontman for one of the greatest rock bands of all time. In fact, even though I thought "Arrival" was a very solid album, it was this mindset that kept me from buying the Journey 2001 DVD. I mean who would want to watch somebody else sing "Perry's" songs?! Sacrilege!

Man was I WRONG. As this concert proves, these weren't Perry's songs, they were Journey's songs, and from start to finish, this is one of the most enjoyable concert DVD's I've watched to date. Terrific musicianship, terrific sound and visuals, thoroughly enjoyable.

Steve Augeri is flat-out fantastic vocally. You are really doing yourself a disservice by getting hung up on how much you think he does or does not sound like Steve Perry. The guy pulls off every song brilliantly and he cohesively blends in with the band, not as a frontman but as an equal. This DVD is all about the music, and let me tell you, the MUSIC IS GREAT.
