Summary: Excellent DVD from criminally underrated artist
Review:

In my opinion, Cyndi Lauper is the best female pop singer this side of Dusty Springfield. She is also an excellent songwriter;
the fact that she has been covered by Miles Davis speaks for itself. I find her songs musically interesting, and Cyndi is also an artist who is not afraid to adress controversial topics
like onanism, abortion, the homeless and deep depression in her lyrics - so she is definitely much more than a funny girl. I find that a deep sense of humanism - the trade mark of all truly great artists - radiates thru her work.
If this is not enough, she is also a charismatic artist with a terrific stage presence...

I bought the DVD "Twelve deadly cyns" a couple of days ago, and I have already watched it twice. This DVD is to be placed in the same league as the real classic ones, like "Gimme shelter","Deja vroom", "Stop making sense" and Orbison's black and white show.

Summary: 5 stars for Cyndi, but DVD not very impressive
Review: As much as it pains me to give anything by Cyndi Lauper less than five stars, I feel that I have no choice but to do that here, with the purpose of letting you know exactly what you're really buying and what to expect should you decide to order it. I'll begin by saying that I own both the VHS and DVD versions of "12 Deadly Cyns...And Then Some." This collection of videos is phenominal, and a must-have for any Cyndi Lauper fan. However, my opinion is that one should first know the shortcomings of this DVD before making the decision to purchase it.

The sound quality is very good, I would say better than the VHS version. But I can't say the same for the image quality. As with the VHS, it's grainy and simply isn't up to par with the image quality that DVD's are supposed to have.

The extra features leave much to be desired. Granted, one huge plus of this DVD is the (obvious) ability to select which video you want to see with the click of a button. That is certainly great. But I wasn't impressed with the other "bonus" features at all. There are subtitles, which I suppose can be useful to see the lyrics of the songs. But all in all, unecessary. There is a brief biography of Cyndi Lauper which looks like it was written by someone who did a 15-minute research of her on the Web and then threw some bits and pieces together. You can find biographies 20 times better than that by visiting any fan page or her official Web site. There's also a discography. Big whoop.

And then there's the packaging. While not the worst out there, it won't take your breath away either. Get this: the inside booklet is nothing more than a list of other DVD titles available. All I ever needed. Note to Sony: I bought this DVD because I wanted to see Cyndi Lauper, not an advertisement for a bunch of other DVD's that I'll never have the slightest interest in owning as long as I live.

To conclude, I would strongly suggest considering all the pros and cons (which there are both) of this DVD before buying it. If cost is not an issue for you and if you don't mind pointless bonus features, by all means get this. I did, and I don't regret it in spite of its downfalls. But if you want to save your money, know that you won't be missing out on very much if you get the VHS version.

Summary: Finally there's Cyndi Lauper material on DVD
Review: But sony could have done a better job. You get dvd quality image and sound but nothing more than that cause they didn't bother to do an awesome job :( The videos made up for that lack of care - From the fun girls just wanna have fun til Hey now Cyndi's talent and beauty makes you want to watch this over and over. They could have added unreleased videos like Hole in My Heart and Goonies 're Good enough parts 1 and 2... Let's hope they release Cyndi Lauper In Paris - She's so talented it's a shame we have to wait centuries for each Cyndi release!

Summary: She Needs to do a live concert dvd
Review: Cyndi needs to do a live concert dvd which could be a 5 star. This collection of videos is good and merits 3 stars. Her live performances are the best.

Summary: Cyndi Shines!
Review: For Cyndi fans this DVD comes as a real treat. Fans of this colorful artist know that there is really not a whole lot of material on video even less on DVD about CYndi and her music. This DVD is great because it shows all of Cyndi's videos for her most popular songs and it also features Cyndi talking live and you get to see a lot of her throughout the DVD. This is definitely a must have for the devoted Cyndi Lauper fan.

Summary: most underrated artist of our time
Review: I am ahuge fan of cyndis work and wanted alot more on the dvd.Cyndi worked so hard to make it as a singer its hard to believe that she still is one of the most underrated artists of our time, madonna doesn't have half the talent that cyndi does and these new girls like dido and sarah maclachlan are way too overrated.I am glad that sony did put this dvd out, it is atreasure to have. What we need is cyndi lauper in paris on dvd and more help on getting her music back on the top 10 charts, maybe her new dance cd will do that. It would be sad if she becomes one of those established artists that doest get appreciated till she dies but than again the most gifted of talents live forever through their music like john lennon and janis joplin.I was so glad "im gonna be strong" is on the dvd because it proves how cyndi is as a gifted artist and being.

Summary: Cyndi Lauper Gem
Review: I called Cyndi Lauper-12 Deadly Cyns...And Then Some a Gem because her voice and the innovative way of presenting feelings in a music video are awesome and out of this world. The quality of the image with Cyndi's voice transports you to every single feeling that a human being knows and explores. The best are: I'm Gonna Be Strong and Who Let In The Rain. Now we need the DVD with all her videos, including new ones as Shine and classics as Hole In My Heart, All The Way To China. It will be another classic DVD that will enhance any music collection.
