Summary: Try Not To Smile While You're Watching This DVD
Review: This DVD is pure gold. A must for any Dean fan. You will be smiling from ear to ear. Not only does this bring back fond memories of his celebrated TV show, but it also provides music that is not available anywhere on CD. The medley with Peggy Lee is priceless and worth the price of admission alone. The duet with Petula Clark is also thoroughly enjoyable. Aside from the great music on this DVD, Dean's charm and personality abound. From his ability to not take himself seriously to his ability to sing a ballad effortlessly, makes you see what a talent Dean really was. I only wish there was more Dino reissues available on CD. The picking is slim so get what you can. Especially when the these songs are gems that are for the most part unavailable elsewhere. So go out and get this video because it will put a smile on your face. And when you're smiling the whole world smiles at you.

Summary: The BEST of Dean Martin Show Songs
Review: This is a first rate video!! Greg Garrison outdid himself - he makes wonderful comments about Dino as they show clips of Dean singing on the tv show (and a few old Colgate clips). ALso a couple of duets -Peggy Lee and Pet Clark...This really shows why the Dean Martin show was such a HUGE hit in the late 60's! He was one of a kind...

Summary: The Best Video/DVD Available of Dean Martin Singing
Review: This is a string of mostly color clips of Dean Martin's singing segments from his popular Dean Martin Show. (The clip of Dean singing the title song "That's Amore" is in black and white.)

Typically, each song begins with Dean bounding down the staircase and walking over to the TV studio set of his "bachelor pad" apartment.

In between the clips of Dean singing, Greg Garrison, the producer/director of the Dean Martin Show gushes about Dean's talent--but doesn't give much real insight into the man or provide many anecdotes.

Personally, I would have preferred to have the option to just watch the string of clips of Dean singing songs without Garrison's commentary in between. Also, it would have been nice to see Dean do more duets-- as the video/dvd is almost exclusively all Dean. A longer DVD would have been nice as well.

There are 3 songs filmed in black and white that are deemed extras on the DVD.

In all, this is by far the best video recording of Dean Martin just straight-on singing that is available to date. It is similar, but superior to the DVD "Memories Are Made of This" which is entirely in black and white and with a narrator that has no personal connection to Dean.

Summary: Finally Dean Singing
Review: This is many of his cuts from his TV Show. Recently aired on PBS. It would be nice if the sound quality was better but in the late 60's on TV the quality was just plain bad. I amazed how good they really made this sound. If you're looking for Dean singing song after song this DVD is really your only option. The other with a few cuts is the Legendary Concert with Sinatra, Judy Garland and Dean. Pick that one up as well. They colorized a B&W show and it's somthing.

Enjoy the DVD.

Summary: 100 Proof Fun!
Review: This title is a wonderful collection of clips from the Dean Martin Show and from Dean's early television appearances. Dean Martin croons his way through such soft ballads as "Blue Moon", "Oh, Marie", and his signature song "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime." Dean Martin is captured in his true essence: in tuxedo, with a cigarette in hand on his set singing, dancing, and having more fun than anyone could ever imagine. Duets with Petula Clark and then with Peggy Lee show a warm side to Dean as he flirts with every note! The title stands on its own for capturing Dean Martin through 25 numbers, over an hour of laughter and entertainment. A must for all Dean Martin fans!

Summary: A "Must Own" For Any Dean Martin Fan
Review: This video is the "holy grail" of Dean Martin entertainment. The only disappointment is that it has taken this long for someone to release videos of his variety show. Dean Martin's Variety Show is timeless and you will be left wanting for more. My hope is that it will not take 25 years.

Review: Turn down the lights, pour your favorite beverage and relax with the stylist and personality that was Dean Martin. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Summary: Dean Martin at his best!
Review: Very good DVD of the Dean Martin show.In the 1960's the Dean Martin show was a must see tv show. Some of the finest moments of the show are on this DVD. If there was any fault to it, it is that it is too short. We yearn to see more of Dean. The DVD has 3 extra songs than the VHS tape. I recommend it highly. We miss Dean and would like to see more DVD's like this.

Summary: The Essential Dean Martin
Review: Well, at long last! Dean Martin live and in the flesh as only he could perform. Deans legions will take solace in finally having their main man at his best.

These takes from the first three years of his much acclaimed NBC TV series beginning in 1965 are nicely restored from the original tapes.

Although Deans recording career was quite successful as were his films, he was in essence a performer that had to be seen live to be fully appreciated. This compilation accomplishes that and shows his unique ability to incorporate his own distinct personality into his songs.

He performs a potpourri of standards, both uptempo swingers and the ballads he could sell so convincingly. He has great fun with the swingers as witnessed on Ol'Man River, Houston and others while his "serious" side does ample justice to ballads like You Made Me Love You, Pennies From Heaven and Young at Heart.

Medleys with Petula Clark and Peggy Lee are fun, sexy and ingratiating. Both ladies are great talents themselves and clearly relished performing with Dean. If only they had included his truly wonderful medleys with Kate Smith. Maybe next time!

Long time partner and producer Greg Garrison gives running commentary that give insight into the special charm that made Martin click.

All in all a great start, so much more is in the vaults, Deans fans want MORE!
