Summary: EWF at their best
Review: EWF in their day were a fine band and were certainly ahead of their time. I am not a die hard EWF fan but there are some seriously groovy tunes on this DVD. Sound on 5.1 is fairly good although I am not too sure about EWF's wardrobe. Overall a great concert however the duration is where the DVD falls down....njoy.

Summary: Missing elements!
Review: Excellent representation of the GREATEST BAND Ever! However, No Kalimba, NO Levitation, No Pyramid, The essence is missing! EW&F Definitely "Showed Up and Out" on this concert; Just without those three unique elements to their show....leaves a bit to be desired. If You can get that All-n-All concert tour on DVD, I'd definitely buy that also.

Summary: Yeah, Okay...
Review: I am one of EWF's biggest fans. I saw the show contained on this DVD at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton VA and I was severely disappointed in it as a member of the audience.

Two years prior, I saw them at William & Mary Hall, when they were promoting the I Am LP, and this presentation severely paled in comparison. Their Tour Of The World, 1979 had to be seen to be believed. There weren't any spinning drums or flying Verdines, but there was excellent musicianship from all band members and, more dear to me, extended versions of the songs from the albums. I'll never forget Maurice's extended ad-libs on "After The Love Has Gone" and "Be Ever Wonderful", or Philip's definitive performance of "Star". And, of course, there was the Doug Henning-choreographed magic. They'd lock up Maurice, et al, in a pyramid, they'd blow it up, and it would be empty. Suddenly the band members would show up from nowhere, singing as though nothing extraordinary had ever occurred.

Two years later (having completely ignored any tracks from their 1980 double LP, Faces), we're treated to medleys on "Reasons", "Where Have All The Flowers Gone". "Head To The Sky" and "Devotion (ya got ta walk[?] - what was that?)".

Having said all of the preceding, I think this is the finest of the available EWF videos. Maurice White is still at the height of his powers, Philip doesn't have to strain as much as he has to nowadays and Verdine is still one of the greatest and most hyperactive bass guitar slingers of the last 2 centuries. The show could have been better, but at least the Phoenix Horns (pre-Phil Collins) were tight.

Earth, Wind & Fire without Maurice White isn't Earth, Wind & Fire. To correct a previous reviewer, the only original members of Earth, Wind & Fire that remained throughout were Maurice & Verdine. Philip Bailey and Larry Dunn didn't appear on record until 1972.

Summary: Great Earth Wind & Fire DVD!
Review: I am SO HAPPY to finally add this long out of print concert to my collection! The sound is great, and Pioneer did a nice job with the digital remastering of this old HBO concert from almost 20 year ago! The best part of this experience is seeing most of the original members on stage, and the only problem that I have with the DVD is it's length, only 58 minutes! Come on ! At any rate, any true EWF lover will enjoy this concert, which was during the 1981 'Raise' tour!
For TRUE EWF FANS ONLY!

Summary: THEIR BEST CONCERT ON DVD!
Review: I gave it only 4 stars because, it's less than
an hour, and it doesn't have, After the love is gone.
Why can't they put more concerts out of EWF in
their prime? I'm sure they have Live in Rio footage
they could put on dvd, and Gratitude, WHAT ARE THEY
WAITING FOR! (Video Universe.com) has this concert
for $16.99... Sorry Amazon, but you're over priced
on this item!

Summary: die hard fan!
Review: I have the "Live in Japan" dvd, and I thought that was great. This is another one you will certainly enjoy! They basically have all the original members in this concert. It is awesome watching Maurice White in his prime leading this legendary band! I can't believe how young Philip Bailey looks but his voice just keeps getting better and better! This is one DVD I will cherish in my collection!

Summary: Too Short and too Expensive
Review: I like this Earth, Wind and Fire DVD with the exceptions mentioned in the title. Fifty eight mintutes is a tv show not a concert. Over twenty dollars for less then one hour is over priced.
