Summary: What a Let Down
Review: When I saw all the big names appearing at the concert, I thought "It has to be too good to be true." Indeed it was. By the time they hit "Another Brick in the Wall part 2" you think it's going to be a great concert (plus.. well... Cyndi Lauper looks sexy as hell in the schoolgirl outfit), but then comes that absolutely horribly played guitar solo, and then you get to watch the keyboard guy get faaaarr too into it and tries to dance with Cyndi while playing, and THEN you see the bald German guy with three spikes of hair shooting strait up off his head jump out of no where and start tear it up on a "Key-Tar", adn you realize this is not going to be a good concert. I mean, I'm sure the audio CD is fine, but in addition to the above problems, the concert is also VERY dark and somewhat hard to see everyone. In the end, download the mpeg of Cyndi singing "Another Brick.." and Buy "In The Flesh" by Roger Waters on DVD or "Pulse" by Pink Floyd (Minus Waters) for a great post-pink concert.

Summary: The Wall DVD from a fan's perspective
Review: As someone who was one of the 300,000 that had the pleasure to experience this event live, I say that this DVD is a must have for any Pink Floyd/Roger Waters fan. Because of the times, what was going on socially, politically, and economically; who was involved in any aspect of the show's production; and WHERE this event was held; this was arguably the most significant concert event of our time. I found the background extras very entertaining and informative and gave me a different perspective on the imporance of this event. For those that bought this on VHS (I am one of them), this event was MADE for the DVD format and this re release was a LONG time coming.

Summary: fabulous sound
Review: all have been said about this historic event. This dvd is a must have.
A special rating should be given for the amazing quality of the sound and the 5.1 mixing.
This is a true 5.1 mixing very difficult to find on other dvd.

Summary: 5 star DVD, but with one caveat
Review: This concert easily merits a five star rating, but I am reasonably sure that this DVD version differs oh so slightly from the VHS and LaserDisc versions. For example, some audience clap-along at the end of a brief acoustic guitar bit seems to have been erased, a few shot selections seem to have been altered, and I'm fairly sure that some rehearsal footage has been substituted in place of "event" footage in an area other than the areas previously acknowledged. I've been watching this show on VHS and LaserDisc for many years, and watching the DVD, well, something seemed a bit "off" in spots. It isn't something I can point a finger to, but I sensed a few barely perceptible adjustments and changes here and there.
Or maybe I'm just losing (more of) my mind.

But it is a jaw-dropping experience to watch this show with the improved clarity and depth of picture that you get with DVD compared to the other formats. Cyndi Lauper's "contribution" notwithstanding, the whole show is excellent. Paul Carrack's vocals on "Hey You" bests any other singer's version, hands down.

Summary: The Power of Roger Waters' Words
Review: This DVD of the 1989 show in Berlin is by far the best and most spectacular of any live music DVD. Though, without the entire Pink Floyd band present you think something was amiss, but the show is still an amazing and awe inspiring show of lights, visuals, and of course the Amazing sound of one of Pink Floyd's, namely Roger Waters', greatest works of music. This is something every Pink Floyd fan will enjoy and must have. The cultural tribute that Roger Waters makes in this single epic show is something to behold. The addition of other musical talents, such as Brian Adams, Sinead O'Conner, Thomas Dolby, and John Micheal pushes this show to the limit and then some. In this wonderful show, Roger Waters really shows the power of his talents as a singer, musician, and songwriter. So come on along and see the show, I know you'll enjoy that "Space Cadet Glow"!

Summary: Was there in 1991...
Review: I was stationed in England in 1991 and when I heard that Roger Waters was going to this once in a lifetime concert I HAD to go.

After having the British tour bus park in the gray grungy East Berlin. I walked past the former Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate I looked to the left and the conert site was there in the former no-mans land seperating West and East Berlin. I picked up chucks of the remaining 'real' wall and headed to the concert.

I was in front of the mixing desk and this was the most imperssive visual, emotional show that I have ever seen. The TV and VHS version DO NOT CAPTURE the scale of the show. The sound was great where I was at but it must have been bad at the back since they were shouting "LOUDER, LOUDER" from back there at the beginning.

Right after the magnicifent opening song the sound system died during 'The Thin Ice' and 'Mother'. The video shows the rehearsal footage to make up for it. Thank God no one in the audience heard Cindy Laupner sing 'ABITH part 2' since we were all singing the chorus. We have to put up with her singing on the release. The scale of The Wall, imagry, teacher puppet, lighting, cartoons and the almighty pig were AWESOME! Probably the best way to experience this DVD would be to have the LARGEST screen available and a good loud sound system. Byran Adams was excellent and Van Morrisons voice was BOOMINGLY clear. His voice however sounded flat on the cd/vhs version. I believe this concert is still in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest staged rock shows with over 600 performers on stage at one time.

WHY CAN'T ROGER WATER'S MAKE UP WITH THE REST OF PINK FLOYD AND TAKE THIS MAGNICIENT SHOW ON THE ROAD AGAIN FOR EVERYONE TO EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!! For a great recording of the original Pink Floyd show get 'Is There Anyone Out There - THE WALL LIVE 1980-1981'. Awesome music, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Roger Waters At his Best!
Review: One of the greatest live events I have ever seen! I am a big Roger Waters fan and the recent news that this concert will be released on DVD soon was the best that I have heard in a long time. Although there are a few artists at this show that dont live up to the songs I thought it was a mind blowing spectacular. Don't buy the video - wait for the DVD if you are lucky enough to own a DVD system. One of the best!

Summary: Tear down The Wall!!! PLEASE!!!
Review: This version of The Wall shows without a doubt that the reason the original album is so good is because of the band that played ie Pink Floyd.

This version is full of so called stars which butcher and hack their way through each song and you sit there waiting for the wall to be torn down so you can eject the video and never watch it again.

Van Morrison sounds like he is drunk when he sings Comfortably Numb slurring his speech.

Also I though Roger Waters was totally against stadium concerts which was his original influence for creating the wall even though the proceeds of the concert went to charity.

Summary: The Wall The Way You'll Never Get To See It
Review: I'm sure this is similiar to the show Pink Floyd toured with for 29 performances. Nonetheless, it's the guests that it make it unique and exciting. The cut "The Tide is Turning" is truly moving and a reminder of a world that believed that the end of the cold war meant the end of our global troubles. After September 11, 2001 we know that is no longer true.

Summary: A moment in history
Review: I'd have to say the concert comes out better on video and CD than it did in real life. I was lucky enough to have a great seat one of few in a crowd of 300,000 and also be lucky enough to go back stage. Maybe it was the excitement and emotion of being there in the middle of Potzdamer Platz where only 8 months before was the desolate no mans area of the old center of Berlin. Hitler's old bunker lay beneath a small mound just to the left of us, (where he decided to take his life) sitting on top was a video screen. "MMMMM" strange to sit there and see such a great concert but at the same time be overwhelmed by the history surrounding us". I took some photos of the border guards just before the concert started, they seemed as excited as we were, they all got up in a big group and waved as I took their picture, all smiles, just a little different from only a few months ago. There was another picture I managed to get backstage, it was the Mayors from east and West Berlin having dinner together for the first time, well so said the media people. So much was happening around us it was just so great to be there and to some degree the concert almost became secondary to what was there at the time. However, as Roger Waters said he would never do the "Wall" concert again until the wall came down, well he got his wish and it was just "icing on the cake". Musically it wasn't brilliant there were a number of sound problems but it didn't matter for most of us there, it was a small price to pay for the experience. The finale when those words rang out " tear down the wall" 300,000 Berliners and foreigners sang out in unison as the massive stage collapsed. It was an emotional time, especially for those of us unable to share in the joy those brave Berliners must have felt on the night of 9 November 1989. I guess this doesn't say much about the concert and Roger Waters at all but I can assure you it was absolutely fantastic, and seeing it on video was great. If u can think of all this and what it was all about at the time i.e. "The memorial fund for disaster Relief" you will appreciate it even more. NOT JUST A MUSICAL VIDEO/CD/DVD BUT A POIGNANT MOMENT IN TIME"!!!!
