Summary: Hilarious, Over-The-Top Lip-Synch Fest!
Review: Lovely Sarah wears outlandishly hilarious costumes whilst she mugs and vamps her way through most of her EDEN album, with a few other songs mixed in. She sounds ultra-fabulous (if you love her voice, as I do) and it makes the video even more hilarious when you realise that she is lip-synching her EDEN album (and a few songs from other albums)! I could (and do) watch this over and over. I don't give it 5 because there are a lot of artifacts on this dvd.

Review: Okay, so im a little late writing this review but after reading the editorial from Amazon concerning this video i had to respond. I attended the Eden performance by Sarah Brightman in 1999 in Minneapolis. Sarah Brightman is truly an amazing talent. over the years she has performed in the shadow of her role in the Phantom Of The Opera. Now shes broken out on her own.The results are rather unconventional by some peoples standards,but to see her perform is incredible. she has perfect tone quality and excellent vocal range. eden was theatrical but not madonna llike. shes not out to change the music industry but to present a different approach. the only problem with the eden performance was the length. it was too short. the eden dvd is wonderful but still doesnt capture the live performance. i am not a fan of opera but sarah brightman through her arrangements and brilliant excution of vocal talent make it very listenable as well as entertaining.. maybe she was born in the wrong era but it shouldnt take away from her brilliance. ihighly recommend this dvd as well as the La Luna dvd.

Review: Definitivamente el concierto del momento! Es una magnifica produccion, la misma reune todos los elementos escenicos para darle el toque del exito. Este concierto cuenta con un buen repertorio basandose en su mayoria en la grabacion EDEN, ademas de añadir otros temas de discos anteriores con DIVE, ANDREW L. WEBBER COLLECTION y TIME TO SAY GOODBYE. Todos los temas constituyen un buen balance musical y escenico. En este concierto Brightman, hace un muy buen uso de las nuevas tecnicas del teatro moderno creando la ambientacion exacta para cada tema a interpretar. Para los latinos que escuchamos musica moderna con ritmos pop y new age, Sarah Brightman es una buena alternativa, ya que la misma explora todos los generos, desde el canto gregoriano, pop, balada, clasica, y new age. No se deben perder esta produccion de 98 minutos. Como a su titulo refiere ONE NIGHT IN EDEN, dejese llevar no una noche, si no toda la vida en este viaje exquisito al EDEN de Sarah Brigthman. Summary: fantastic journey through musical eden
Review: "One Night In Eden" is a live footage of the first "The Eden Tour" concert, which took place in Sun City, South Africa. Some people call her albums kitsch but even though, I'd recommend this absolutely FANTASTIC dvd to anyone who likes good music (not to mention Sarah's fans).Most of the songs are taken from the excellent "Eden" album. Moreover, Brightman sings some of her (and audiences') favourites: the "Phantom" songs (composed by her ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Webber) and, of course, her arguably greatest hit "Time To Say Goodbye', which she sings alone (i.e. without Bocelli). Sarah uses material from previous albums as well: "Who Wants To Live Forever" (from "Timeless"; one of the songs she most often performs), "Captain Nemo" (a fantastic success) and "La Mer" (both from "Dive"). The tracks are as follows: 1. Introduction - we hear "Bailero" and are presented with African nature and some shots with Sarah 2. "In Paradisum" 3. "Eden" - one of the best moments of the show. Sarah performs this piece along with six dancers-choirists 4. "So Many Things" 5. "Who Wants To Live Forever" 6. "Anytime, Anywhere" - a truly spellbinding song; sung partly in English and partly in Italian. In my view, that's the best song on the "Eden" album and the best song of the whole concert. 7. "Lascia Ch'Io Pianga" - written by George F. Haendel 8. "Nella Fantasia" - music by famous E. Morricone; thanks to Ferrau's lyrics turned into an interesting song 9. "Nessun Dorma" - very well-known aria from Puccini's "Turandot"; notable 10. "Dive/Captain Nemo" 11. "La Mer" - Sarah "swims" through air with two dancers in an "underwater" scene 12. "Il Mio Cuore Va" - an Italian version of incredibly popular "My Heart Will Go On" 13. "Only An Ocean Away" 14. "First Of May" - a song written by Bee Gees; it was later included in European version of "La Luna" album as an encore track 15-17 songs from "The Phantom Of The Opera" by Lloyd Webber 18. first encore - "Deliver Me" sung with an astounding African choir "Kwantle Ga" 19. closing piece - "Time To Say Goodbye" As for the special features, there is only an exclusive artist interview (monologue?) - quite interesting; it lasts about ten minutes. It's a shame there are so few additional features, the potential of the dvd format could be used much better. Overall, that's an amazing dvd. It's thrilling, it's fantastic. It's worth having.

Summary: One of the best concert DVD
Review: It is a real treat to watch Sarah Brightman on this magnificent DVD. I thoroughly enjoy the concert from start to finish. The video and audio quality were excellent. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that she appeared to lip-sync on some of the songs (or the sound guy fooled around too much in post-production). Otherwise, this concert DVD is as good as it gets for any Sarah Brightman fan. I look forward to the March release of La Luna concert DVD. I'll be one of the first to buy it.

Summary: CAN I recommend this or what?
Review: I got this Sarah Brightman concert on video after the 1997 one. Having seen it, I only want to say that there are certain points that get kind of annoying, like "Anytime, Anywhere," on which the Latin rhythm track overtakes the poor girl's voice. Also, on "Nella Fantasia," she tells everyone the trouble she went through just to get it recorded, but I won't get into that. Jeepers, Sarah! You don't have to tell the whole story on how you got to get the song recorded! And that sexy bella-donna dancing she did during the title track. A "classical" girl isn't supposed to go around dancing and dressing sexy. And "Nessun Dorma," which doesn't sound like she's singing it live. At least the orchestra doesn't drown her out there. Look, I know Sarah is a versatile girl, but WHY does she have to wear that microphone thingy on her head and dance across the stage? It all reminds me of the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync concerts I've seen in which they do nothing but sing and parade across the stage just to put on a "show." You don't see Phil Collins doing that, he plays instruments during HIS concerts. So do Billy Joel and other "real" artists. Even Andrea Bocelli standsstill during HIS concerts, and at least HE puts on a show. Sorry for raining on your parade, I've spent SO much money on Sarah's stuff, it's unreal. I WISH Bocelli would get more tour dates for the 2001 Spring Tour than the very few he has. :(

Summary: Shoot the sound man!
Review: The other reviews speak volumes, but I must stress a point that drove me to distraction through the whole performance...the sound man should be shot! Apparently, during post-production, the fool thought it would be 'nifty' to soup up Sarah's voice a little. I mean A LOT. Flanging, chorusing, the works. It differs from song to song, a few times it's almost gone. Then it returns, crushing her silky crystal voice into a muddy mush. It's something one would do to mask problems with pseudo-singers like Paula Abdul or Madonna. NOT something that should be done to Sarah. Sorry. The annoying sound recording bumps this otherwise stellar video down a couple of stars. I hope the same sound guy isn't working on 'La Luna'....

Summary: In Eden with soaring voice
Review: Sarah fans will find "One night in Eden" on video, to be as moving as the CD, but slightly less clear in sound quality. About 15 min. into the video, Sarah builds the suspense,singing slower, more relaxed music. Then she sings music by the composer Ennio Morricone and others, changing into her opera style voice. With that said, I found the vast selection of material, along with her suspense build quite thrilling. When I purchased "One night...", surprisingly, I expected the concert to be boring. As I've never seen her perform before this video, I didn't know what to expect. In the end, I liked it very much. Look for great visual effects in this video. They're original and reflect Sarah's love of the oceanic life. The visual presentation of "One night..." is based on what I call her "Gothic chic". Sarah's wardrobe is anything but simple! Whether she is singing, drowning in deep red lights and electric candles, I think you'll appreciate the CD even more. But of course, the sound is less clear, and the acoustics steal her voice of it's true power. The video seemed to end too fast, as result of the suspense being over with, halfway through Sarah's repertoire. Note that the conductor wasn't too formal, so the orchestra performed on more of a casual feel. I won't call the video "audio genious", but it was great. I can't wait for "La Luna" to come out on video. Let us not forget, Mountain lake broadcasting has to get their hands on it for 3 months 1st, before the actual public video release. Remember how we had to wait for "One night...". Well, as a huge Brightman fan, I think you'll like the video. Get it yourself, rather than as a gift. That way, the suspense will be stronger. Enjoy!

Summary: A Stunning Artistic Concert!
Review: The ONE NIGHT IN EDEN is my first ever copy of a DVD. Here in Manila, VCDs are the ones rampant. I was able to purchase this DVD thru a friend who went to the States and I felt very fulfilled when I finally get the copy & watch it in front of my audio & video sets. Sarah's performance was prevailing in the sense that she cannot be overpowered by the orchstra nor by the surreal production design on stage and her costumes. This means that the voice of Sarah can really bring out the best of every song she sings. Every composition in her repertoire is a masterpiece. Her voice and the lyrics mingle perfectly together while the stage backdrop added an illusion of art as if you are viewing a huge fantastic painting. The concert was pure art and poetry and this was pictured clearly in this musical genre. Never in my life did I see a singer who is a soprano and an artist as well. Her versatility proves that she can violate classical and pop rules without appearing awkward and abrupt. Sarah is the pop artist of the hour in Europe!

Summary: Needs To Rethink New Age Act And New Age Music
Review: This was my third exposure to Brightman and the least favorable. I loved her five star singing with Bocelli on "Night In Tuscany" and her five star solo singing on "The Songs That Got Away." However, her stage show is extremely distracting to her singing in this concert. There is New Age flowing, draping and writhing throughout that negatively showcases her talent. I've never seen so much flowing, rippling fabric, hair and bodies trying to evoke an Atlantis-like, oceanic mood. Also, at least half of the musical compositions are simply not good enough for her. She needs first rate material throughout, like she has on the prior two works I mentioned. I am very new to Brightman and had I seen this work of hers first, I doubt I would have gone on to listen or to watch any other work of hers. That would have been a shame as when she is doing operatic or theatrical compositions, she is out of this world and needs no gimmicks whatsoever. With Bocelli, I believe she performed in a simple black dress and there were no elaborate props or staging devices. She was a lot more effective when visually pared down and relying instead on first rate material and her first rate voice.
