Summary: An excellent multi-channel concert video
Review: If more live performances were done like this, I would buy more of them.

Rather than slap you in the ears and say "Hey look over here," the multi-channel audio is very easy to listen to, and it creates a presentation that allows you to watch the concert from various vantage points, all the while immersing you in the incredible music from this tour.

I have always regarded the audio CD as one of the most enjoyable in my collection, but when I'm at home, this DVD is what I put in to listen to. If you don't want to watch the video, you can turn off the TV and just listen, since you don't need the video to orient you to the music.

Just sit back, relax, and enjoy this DVD. It's well worth the purchase price. More studios and artists should take note.

Summary: A watershed
Review: I can't say much more than all the others before me - only that my first reaction was one of amazement ...this DVD represents a watershed in how we will listen to music in the future. Whether it was all DTS or PCM or whatever it was sensational.

Summary: The Eagles Live in DTS - A Feast For The Ears
Review: Hell Freezes Over was a great concert which I remember watching on MTV when it became available. I purchased the CD and the VHS version - both of which were well engineered. However, if you have never experienced this wonderful 1994 event in DTS (Digital Theater Systems specializes in "master quality" 5.1 soundtracks and does not use the level of compression used by Dolby Digital) you owe it to yourself to purchase the DVD (provided both your DVD player and receiver are DTS compatible) and enjoy this live event. Visually and audibly superior DVD!

Summary: DTS Awesome, Video= Better Than Awesome
Review: I have read most of the reviews here on this DVD and I agree with most of the comments that "Hell Freezes Over" IS and will be one of the best music DVD's for some time to come. The DTS sound track is simply amazing to listen to, really shows my equipment what it's capable of.Yamaha DSP-A1, & Klicsph High End Lascala"s. But let's get to an even, perhaps, better part, VIDEO!! I read where one of the reviewer's stated that he(she) got an even better video picture when played thru the computers' monitor. And there are good reasons, as i now own a Pioneer 710 ELITE 64" HDTV, which gives you a Progressive Scan Image, If , of course, you own a DVD player capable of Progressive Scan, which I do, the Toshiba. Hey , try that on for size, and you WILL SEE GOOD VIDEO quality, and man, I LOVE IT !!!!!!!

Summary: A real showcase for a surround sound system
Review: I've had my DVD for nearly a year, but just (finally) purchased a 5.1 Surround system for my living room. Boy, am I glad I went with a DTS-capable unit, because it makes this Eagles DVD sound absolutely *amazing*. It's like sitting right in front of Don Henley, with the rest of the band surrounding you while they play the concert.

If you're looking for a disc to show off your DTS system, this is it. The musicians are at the top of their form, too; I've never heard the Eagles sound better.

Summary: This DVD Rocks!
Review: Make no mistake, the entire DVD is DTS encoded! I have found that the only way to listen to the DTS audio only track at the end is to unload and reload the disk. Select DTS and go directly to the last track via the song menu. This is the only way I have been able to listen to it...I don't know why. This is by far the best sounding audio that has ever passed through my home theatre! I did, however, rate the DVD four stars instead of five because of the following reasons: a) The previously mentioned difficulty setting up the audio only DTS song; b) The five channel surround is somewhat artificial in that the string section is heard from the rear channels, as are certain band member instruments (I feel that it is not an accurate reproduction of the concert hall); c) I wish the band member interviews had gone into more depth regarding why the band split, and how they reconciled their differences (if there were any in 1980). Other than that, it is an outstanding DVD and worthy of serious consideration by Eagles fans and audiophiles alike.

Summary: Say you don't own a DTS DVD? Make this your 1st purchase!
Review: I was unable to make it to any of the Eagles concerts, but have long been a fan. This DVD makes it possible to have an Eagles concert in your home whenever you want one! The ENTIRE DVD is encoded in DTS and sounds great! (Of course, your receiver/DVD player must be DTS capable. If not, you may experience all songs except 7 Bridges in Dolby Digital.) I had a friend over to watch this DVD who had attended one of the "Hell Freezes Over" concerts. He said although he wouldn't take anything for the experience of having seen the Eagles live in concert, the DVD was definitely more enjoyable since you could hear every note and see the artists faces and actions. If you are an Eagles fan, this DVD is a must! If you are an audiophile looking for a great demonstration of your DTS system, this DVD is also a must! Do I sound like I work for Amazon.com? No, I don't, but I do like doing business with them.
