Summary: Better than the CD
Review: 4.9 stars, only because Charlotte Church doesn't sing in "The Prayer". I agree with previous reviewer that Angie Stone, although a great singer, was a major letdown for me. Was Charlotte simply unavailable? If so, they should have waited untill she was available. It would have been worth the wait and would have made this the ultimate Groban concert video of a lifetime.

It might seem I'm making a big deal out of Charlotte not appearing, but to fans like me who love "The Prayer", my favorite pairing will always be Church/Groban. Always.

I now even wonder if Charlotte declined to appear here because she was maybe asked to sing the secondary part? I guess we'll never know exactly why Charlotte didn't appear, but it's going to bug me every time I watch this concert.

Still, Groban is at his very best here, and I think turns in a performance even better than his debut CD. Josh has seemingly matured in very subltle ways (probably just getting better with experience), and the tone quality and maturity of his voice is stunning.

The result is a lifetime performance that Josh himself may not even be able to surpass. Josh here is relaxed, enthusiastic, connected to the audience, happy, fun, and just plain incredibly sounding good.

But the highlight for me was the Bach piece, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". I was blown away with the beautiful Lili Hayden (she sings while playing the violin) and Groban's powerful voice, each of them projecting reverence and joy in Bach's timeless music. It's the ultimate expression of aspiring to God's love, in a musical journey, almost as if we've all been transported to Heaven where only joy, happiness, and love exists, in a pure ecstasy. Does this bring tears to the eyes of others, as it does me?

Summary: Wow...what a joy to listen to!!
Review: If you have the Josh Groban album and have enjoyed it, then this DVD will certainly be one that you will enjoy as well. It is not just a concert, as there are many special effects and creative uses of the stage, although none of it takes away from the music itself. Josh of course sings superbly with better vocal technique than on his current album. He has truly grown as a performer and singer and will continue to do so throughout his career. This is a DVD well worth your money if this is your taste in music. Even if you are not one to jump on the "pop-classical" genre, then this is a good introduction. I highly recommend this one!

Summary: 5 stars for Josh G, 3.5 overall for their choice of "pairs"
Review: First, this young man is almost overwhelming. I truly enjoyed this and his previous CD performances. So much voice maturity, clarity, and poise for a man so young> Excellent sound and production quality to the DVD.

Ok, here's where I try to remain tactful: their choice of Angie Stone to accompany him on "the Prayer" was an overwhelmingly bad one. Her thin, tinny, voice may be fine for pop and r&b-- she has a marginal voice at best. However, to pair her with his resonant voice was not only unfair to her, but a real disservice to the song, performance, and the audience. I have a feeling that I will pop in the CD whenever I get to this duet and listen to Groban and Charlotte Church while watching the video. Also, his rendition of Oh Holy Night is really incredibly moving. Why is it not on the DVD? Sheesh, I'd like to meet the producer/editors who made these calls!

Buy it anyway, but I'll bet many share my disappointment on those points.

Summary: Joshed in KY
Review: Timeless...simply breathtaking! If words are all we have to describe the amazing talent of Josh Groban, it's not yet in the dictionary. His voice is crisp and pure gold. If we are to base the number of standing ovations he received as testament to his vocal ability, humility, and sincerity...he got it and he deserves it. The CD/DVD was the best Christmas gift I ever received, bar none. I've purchased more than one set of both CD and CD/DVD sets -- so I'll always be able to listen to him at work and at watch him at home. God has provided us with a little piece of heaven in Josh Groban. Get this set and prepare to be mesmerized! I just wished I had known about him sooner and been able to go to the concert but the superb DVD quality and sound will not let you down. I was glad that Amazon.com had the pre-order and didn't have to wait weeks for it to get to the local music retailer.

Summary: Must have DVD/CD
Review: A MUST have for any Josh fan. I love the extras on the dvd, which were shot by Chris Groban, Josh's brother. It's so nice to see the humorous 'silly Josh'. "Oh Holy Night" brings me to tears each time I hear it. All of Josh's songs do, because his voice is THAT powerful, but "Oh Holy Night" especially.

Summary: One of a kind experience
Review: I bought Josh's first album about 2 years ago, and I got his second album about two months ago. This man is one of the very few artists who is blessed with such an awesome voice. This DVD concert enhances my profound admiration to Mr. Groban; it is a testimony that he is not just a voice but, really, a person with God given talent and character. The sheer emotion and the magnificence of this concert is going to transcend you into such an experience, that is, breathtaking. It will leave you in awe, and in a deep state of pure calmness. I thought (before) that nothing in this world can bring one into such a state of total serenity other than God. But then again, I believe, Josh radiates that awesomeness. This concert will take you to the place, and makes you experience a little of the majesty and power of what we to believe to be - Heaven.
