Review: A great collection of songs spanning their music old to new.
I was disapointed in the sound even after trying different settings but given the description by Neil Peart's liner notes
of the circumstances(no sound check,just play and hope it all works)the results are still pretty good. Geddy Lee's vocal mix is weak and Alex's guitar is muddy at times butI think the band played with great energy and enthusiam and the crowd was amazing,
especially on The Spirit of Radio.Good camera work.I saw the band live on the same tour in St. Louis and this disc put me right back in my seat.With the exception of a few moments I didn't care for the interviews and offstage antics.Even with some flaws this is still a must have for any fan.You have to love the fact that these guys will play for 3+ hours every show and the video includes the entire show.

Review: Growing up in Texas in the late seventies, early eighties when Rush first exploded on the scene may make me a little biased, but this DVD kick's ass. Thank You Paul !! The best Christmas gift of the year!!!!

Summary: A good DVD but has some rough parts
Review: This a lengthy dvd by Rush it has some good performances on it and some that aren't the best. The crowd can be loud at times but I do like the enthusiasm. There are good performances on the DVD earthshine, the pass, and yyz come to mind. Closer to the Heart could defintely have been performed better. All in all it's not perfect but I still enjoy most of the dvd.

Review: Ok I'll admit I was a little skeptical buying this DVD, having read the one star reviews beforehand- foretelling of awful sound and what not - yet being a diehard RUSH fan since my friend gave me "Hemispheres" back in the late 70's, I had to try it out.

Just a couple of words come to mind...

My personal favorites were probably Natural Science (oh my goodness) Cygnus X1 (mind-blowing) O Baterista (speechless) By-Tor and the Snowdog, La Villa Strangiato, EarthShine, and probably Resist.

Thank You Rush - Many years have passed, so it was nice to take the trip down memory lane - I already have most of your tapes, and Cd's not to mention a few albums, so I dont know but we'll see. I'm looking for other DVD's by you guys now...

Summary: Rush..the guys next door.
Review: I'm going to just focus on Alex, Neal and Geddy.The second disc is a great way to meet these guys almost in person. I've listen to Rush for many years and formed my own idea of what kind of people they were (I thought!)..But after watching the second disc it feels like I have meet the band.Neal was very relaxed and normal, It's hard to tell because when he is behind the drums he seems to never smile or show emotion, but I found him to be very down to earth. It's the same with Geddy Lee. The real surprise (for me anyway) was Alex...what a funny guy!...he has a great since of humor.This just made me love Rush and their music even more.So buy this dvd despite some of the negative reviews, this is a very informative and entertaining dvd about Rush.

Summary: Showing the young'ins how it's done
Review: After the Test for Echo album, 2 tragedies befell drummer Neil Peart which I don't need to go into here. There was doubt there'd even be a Rush album(and to some people, maybe even no more Neil). He fired back when the group released Vapor Trails, probably the most hard rocking cd they've released since...well, ever. This is the concert that was filmed in Rio de Janeiro.

In a case of bad timing, it rained a lot just before the band hit the stage and the crew, which normally sets up at 7 in the morning, now started at 2 and even making last minute touches before the band was about to go on. So to call it a risky venture was an understatement: it was being recorded for a DVD, an album, and the sound quality for both of those things due to the rain. It may have been hit a little bit but it doesn't detract from anything.

One thing I really wish the band would do is stop playing Tom Sawyer or Closer to the Heart. They got seriously overplayed. It's nice to see them on the set for the casual Rush listener but as hardcore fans, you're like "you couldn't throw on Red Barchetta or Subdivisions instead?" Now on to the show.

The renditions here are near to the studio recording with only a few variations and tone differences. The guitar is sometimes buried to the point where you can't hear it that well or it's a bit audible but not clear. 2112 is on the set but it's only up to Temples of Syrinx, they don't even play the next 5 sections. There's a jam at the end of Bravado(my all-time favorite song by anyone) which kind of detracts from it a bit. A cool moment is during the intermission there's a cute cigar smoking dragon(seen on the cover) before One Little Victory, he blows fire at the camera but perfectly timed with the pyrotechnics on the stage.

The 2nd disc is nice with a great documentary hour long about the shows in Brazil with some comedic moments(forget Ozzy, Alex and his wife Charlene are more entertaining in the 3-4 minutes they're on then Ozzy was in their entire seasons). The multi-angles for the instrumentals is nice as you can finally see how the hell Alex and Co. does some of the things they do. A complaint is that the brutal acoustic intro from La Villa Strangiato is taken out, opening with the repeating arpeggio.

This is a great dvd which you can play for people who you want to "devirginize" to Rush.
