Summary: The Best Music DVD
Review: The "Rush in Rio" was filmed with state-of-the-art-technology.
BBC filmed this DVD with 22 cameras for more 65,000 people in Maracana Stadium(World Soccer Temple). Rush in 03 shows, played for more 125,000 people.

The video has "hight super quality" and multi-angles. Who see this DVD are going to feel in live show. It's fantastic, beatiful, perfect and curious.

Here in Brasil, this DVD selled 100,000 copies in the first week. In Billboard chart, it's number 01.

"You must buy this DVD" .

Summary: Somebody please fire the editor!!
Review: I was sadly forced to take a whole three stars from my rating due to the blinding fast edition of this DVD from my beloved band, a fact that makes watching this DVD a disturbing experience for eyes and brain. It's really distracting and annoying! I don't understand it!
The second DVD is the gem here, unfortunately.

AS for the sound, I thought it is great, no complains about it.

Summary: Awesome
Review: There are many reasons people become Rush fans. You will find them all on this DVD set. Flawless musicianship, great live energy, onstage charisma, and good solid rocking. When I saw Rush Test for Echo concert, I thought that it was the best concert I've ever seen. This is better. They play for three hours! They can play solos note for note yet keep the sound fresh and exciting. They improvise, they surprise and really know how to put on a show. These guys are one of the best bands in the world, they behave professionally, stay humble and are a class act all the way around. This DVD captures it all. Highly recommended! Thank you Rush! Big thanks to Mr. Peart for toughing it out and giving us the music and touring even though he may not have always felt like it. Thanks! I'm a ghost rider too.

Summary: Did they hire Steve Harris to edit it ??!!
Review: This DVD is very good. Set list, packaging, the second DVD. Even the sound, which has been subject of much dissapointment, is satisfactory to me.

But the edition.... Why did they use this frantic editon, similar to Iron Maiden's "ROCK IN RIO"? It's annoying, a pain in the head, you soon get tired of following the split second change of angles. Also, the changes are made in absurd moments. When one guy begins his solo, the camera goes other side!

Anyway, it's Rush and it's the best you will get, because the product is endorsed by them, of course!

Summary: Get it!
Review: First and foremost: what a crowd!! I've seen every tour but two since Grace Under Pressure.. the energy the crowd brings, and watching the band feed off it and give their best was rather amazing. I have no problem with hearing them sing along on certain songs..it was inspiring. Go buy a studio album if you don't want to hear the fans have a good time at a live show.

The sound quality: in the end, it's a subjective opinion. Don't listen to the whiners.. the DVD captures an amazing night, sound and sight. If your going to split hairs and endlessly tweak settings on your pricy home theater, you've got other issues, ones that won't be solved by a re-release with a 'better' mix..

I don't care much for extras - but the documentary was very interesting, considering how private these three are. I've been a rabid fan for 15 years, it's amazing how little I know of them personally, Neils problems aside. The documentary is a good intro before watching the concert for non-Rush junkies.

Must have for fans. If your on the fence.. get it and crank up By-Tor and Natural Science during the encore.. Holy $%#*.. you'll get some idea why the are revered by a cult following.

Summary: Captures the Rush Show Experience
Review: Man, there are a lot of you audiophiles out there. Yes, there is some merit to some of the reviewers' gripes about the vocal mix and other sound quality issues, but I think this recording has that unique big arena show feel to it. Many live recordings have a studio quality to the mix. (Didn't Oingo Boing record a "live" album in an empty hall once?) This has a much bigger live sound. If fact, I think you could make a case that this DVD provides a truer live experience than many of the other performance DVD's out there. It had the same quality as if you where actually at a Rush show. Maybe that was their intent. The vocal levels for the first couple of songs did seem relatively low and at times inaudible, but after a while the balance tended to improve. As the disc went along, I really got absorbed in the show and no longer found myself critiquing the sound quality. In fact, I happened to put on the Presto CD, after watching the DVD, and noticed that the overall vocal levels of the two recordings where pretty similar.

I do agree that the camera shots could have been better, and the rapid editing wasn't to my liking. I like the editing pace of the Grace Under Pressure tour video much better. The camera work for that show also gave the viewer the sense that they were right up on stage with the band. That video captures Rush perfectly, at the time when they made the greatest impression on me.

I missed Rush when they came to town last year. I figured they would go on forever; however, from some of the comments from the film on the second disk I get the feeling that this may have been it for the band on the road. I hope this wasn't their Swan Song.

Summary: Masterpiece
Review: I am looking forward to this DVD concert. C'mon, what can we expect from the makers of such masterpice as Roll the Bones, too bad there is no testimony in video for sale of such terrific album that keeps you on the edge and is so dinamic musically. If this DVD comes from the chops of the makers of the alum mentioned above, I'll certainly buy it. You can tell tere is no commercial pursuit in Rush music when they don't even sell video concerts of their albums tours as other hard rock band does. Instead they leave you with your mouth watering.
