Summary: Waiting for a Show of Hands
Review: Very excited for a live DVD by the hardest working rock band in history but only to be thoroughly disappointed. There are some shining moments (Natural Science). However, the sound is indeed horrible (the CD is even worse). I had intended to buy the DVD for the live performance by the band. Instead I was presented with 2 hours of listening to the crowd sing. Looking forward to see Show of Hands on DVD someday.

Summary: Could have been MUCH better...
Review: As much of huge RUSH fan that I am, I have to agree with some of the poor comments here. The concert was great given the songs they play, but yes the sound was not good, and the blurry video is tolerable. For RUSH, a technically savy and true musician band, this comes as a disappointing surprise. And YES the crowd was annoying at times and spoiled some great songs...

Summary: Best Perfornance Yet
Review: I own Show of Hands on VHS and have probably watched that one 50 times over the years. Great quality especially for VHS. This DVD blows that away in sound and overall concert feel. Anyone who rates this a 1 automatically loses credibility given the obvious quality here. The only reason to do that would be to bash the group, and we all know there are people out there who don't understand Rush or their music. Maybe they should have used the under 13 kids review form just to identify themselves more clearly. These people who claim to have a high end system may very well be tone deaf or have no ear for good quality music.

I've had the DVD since the day it hit the stores and have watched it several times and don't know what some of these people are talking about. Even a friend of mine who likes to occasionally knock Rush if he doesn't feel an cd is up to par, had nothing bad to say about this one. So my advice would be to ignore the negative reviews. They have no validity. Go out and get it! This just sounds like a great loud concert with full audience involvement. To be fully enjoyed it should be cranked up to a high level. Enjoy!

Summary: overall great performance, but sorry video editing
Review: For the most part, this dvd is excellent! Any Rush fan will love it, despite the obvious flaws. Compared to A SHOW OF HANDS, RUSH IN RIO is a masterpiece. But if you're talking about video quality in the editing department, the GRACE UNDER PRESSURE concert video is still the best.
For all you video editors out there who are reading this: PEOPLE DON'T LIKE THE FAST JUMPING AROUND WITH THE CAMERAS EVERY HALF SECOND! Why are so many concert videos and dvd being filmed that way nowadays?! Look at Iron Maiden's Rock in Rio. That's a great band with a great performance, but the video editing is pure crap! I can't even watch that one. Rush In Rio isn't quite as bad as the Iron Maiden one, though. The camera shots jump around too fast mostly in the first half. Especially during the first 2 or 3 songs. Then it becomes a little less annoying in the 2nd half. Lately I've been starting with One Little Victory and watching it from there just because the camera work is too annoying during much of the first half.
I think they should recall this dvd, then let ME come in and do the video editing and I'd make the video portion of the dvd perfect. And I'd do it for free!

The sound has some minor flaws, but it's hard to tell on my tv because I don't have it hooked up to my stereo, so I can't give an accurate stereo quality review.
There's a lot of energy from the audience which may annoy some people. For some reason, Brazilians like to yell and chant a lot. The energy from the band is amazing. Their performance is what really makes this dvd worth buying. Great song selection, too. At least one song from every album except Caress Of Steel and Hold Your Fire.
Despite the annoying MTV style camera work and a sound quality that could have been better, this dvd is worth it.

Summary: Good Band, BAD DVD
Review: The reviewers who noted that the mixing and camera shots on this thing sucked made understatements. It is unlistenable and unwatchable. This is by far the worst of the 50 concert DVD's I have in my collection. What a tragedy! For those who feel this is the pinnacle of entertainment, I recommend that they watch and listen to Roger Waters "Live in the Flesh", Eric Clapton "One More Car One More Rider", or even AC/DC "Live at Donnington" and THEN tell all of the objective guys they don't know what they are talking about.

Summary: If you don't like it, go elsewhere.
Review: This is my second review of this disk, with a little something for the naysayers. Let me just say that I have watched this DVD a few times since it came out and I grow more impressed with it every time I watch it. It is simply mesmerizing. I have had NO TROUBLE getting good sound with BOTH mixes (Dolby 5.1 and Dolby 2.0) and it pisses me off to read all of these so called fans bashing the DVD. That's the problem with the internet. Any jagoff with a keyboard can get his opinion heard when, in reality, these anti-social misfits with the Kleenex dispensing keyboards should have their little computer toys taken away from them and sent to their room without any dinner.

What a bunch of a-holes. Log off and get a life, would you?

Summary: MASTERPIECE!!!!
Review: I had so many doubts of buying this DVD after reading some of these reviews but I'm so glad I bought it!!! I have No complain at all!!! Excellent footage, excellent sound and most of all excellent performance.

The audience at Rio must be the best audience that any band could have. Hopefully, people will start to realize that there is actually a wonderful world and awesome cultures outside of North America worth visiting.

No matter if you are a fan or not, check this concert right away!!
