Summary: It was a great year......
Review: 2002 was a great year for Christian Music. From Steven Curtis Chapman's "Live Out Loud" to Jaci Velasquez's "Adore," there were many songs worth making any "best of year" collection.

What is even better is that, thanks to the growing popularity of DVDs, we can now enjoy watching the videos of said "best of" songs.

Wow Videos 2002 on DVD contains 22 music videos, including the never before on DVD "Jesus Freak" by DC Talk and both the original and MTV versions of "Flood" by Jars of Clay.

In addition to the standard "best of" fare on this collection, like STacie Orrico's "Everything" and Jump5's "Spinnin' Around," you can find videos for some of the less mainstream Christian bands. Two of my (now) favorites are The Elms' "Hey, Hey" (a throw back of sorts to the time of The Beatles) and SuperChic[k]'s "Barlow Girls" (one of the most straightforward songs about abstinence this side of DC Talk's "don't want it."

There are times when putting a CD or a cassette into the stereo and just listening to the music doesn't cut it. With this DVD collection, you can now watch along as you listen.

Summary: Broadening my view of Christian music.
Review: I am somewhat new to christian music. My first experience in christain music seeing an old 'Point Of Grace' video on a early morning thirty minutes cable show that showed only christian artist (a few days later I guess it was canceled). I was suprised how much I enjoyed watching some of these groups and a bit disappointed that you could hear anymore than that. Here in Pasadena, Texas there is only one station on the radio that plays christian music and no channels that play any christian videos. So I was happy to find this DVD with a varity of artist and styles. It helped further my enjoyment of other artists and helped strenghten my faith in God. I highly recommend it.

Summary: How have things changed
Review: Judging by the history of WOW CD's and my first encounter with WOW 98, I was quite impressed with the quality, selection of songs and it's arrangement. I have since seen this standard droped but this one is an absolute disaster. I wish I could have my money back because this is not worth paying a penny for. There were 2 or 3 songs in there that are manageable, I 'll say who ever compiled the videos has bad taste. This is the 1st WOW DVD that I know of and one would expect it to be an absolute hit rather it is the opposite. It feels like the whole compilation was made in a haste without considering the different audience that it attract. Most of the songs are rock like artist, surely 2 would be Ok but not to the tune of 5 or 6. Unless the copies on sale can be withdrawn and another one (WOW Hits 2002) produced with new songs (which I know will not happen), I 'll not say thank you if you gave WOW Hits 2002 to me as a gift.
