Summary: Great shootem up set in Austria
Review: A lot of fun to watch. Burton and Eastwood are superb. It has its flaws, none of our heros gets much more than a nick from all the bullets flying. The germans are like the gang that can't shoot straight and there are some errors, like an helicopter right out of 'whirly birds', a car scene that only kills the germans but leaves our heros intact and the notion of taking the bad guys back to England when it would have been so much easier to shoot em, but be that as it may its great fun to watch. The actors playing the germans make you believe that there was a castle of the eagles and the alpine corps is nearby, it is no more unrealistic than The Guns of Navarone. It has beautiful women. It is filled with wonderful subplots, exploding castles, a great bridge explosion scene and a lot of wrecked airplanes. It is well crafted and for me has stood the test of time

Summary: Best WWII Movie in the European Theater of Operations
Review: The best of the best. Lots of action, intrigue, great panoramic views of the Schloss Adler which was really made in the Schloss Hohenwerfen in Werfen Austria, a real life castle! The cinematography is excellent and the actions holds you spell bound the entire movie. Really a action war movie of the first order! I only wish it would be digitally remastered and offered on a wide screen format on DVD!

Summary: Richard Burton takes on the German Army
Review: If you want action and scenic Austrian locations, this film has it. Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood star in the movie adaptation of Alistair MacLean's novel (MacLean also wrote the screenplay). From the beginning of the film with agents parachuting out of an original German Junkers 52 to the life or death pursuit at the end of the film, this video is jam-packed with action. Expect much of the usual MacLean storyline in this film as a handful of agents, plan gone awry, destroy a large contingent of the German Army while challenged by double agents in their midst. Much like "Force Ten from Navarone" and " The Guns of Navarone," a World War Two buff might wonder why so much of the Wehrmacht was located somewhere other than the front. No matter. The cinematography is excellent and the locations stunning in Winter beauty. The film's musical score by itself is wonderful. I agree with other fans of this film that it should be released on DVD and the soundtrack should be re-released on CD along with MGM's current catalog of classic military movie soundtracks.

Summary: Best movie of it's kind! Please release it on DVD!
Review: One of my favorite movies of all time. Great acting, great music and awesome storyline. Plot seems simplistic on the surface (okay, so they're going into this mountain fortress to rescue some guy), but all is not as it seems! You definitely need to be paying attention or you'll fall off the rollercoaster with all it's twists and turns (and regret it.) I liked it so much that I have the movie taped in BetaMax format and keep a deck around just to play it. Please, please, rerelease this timeless classic on DVD!

Summary: This movie is THE BEST WWII spy movie ever made!
Review: Where Eagles Dare is one of those favorites that you never tire of watching. Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood are at their best in this WWII classic. If you like WWII movies, this one is for you!

Summary: JUST SIMPLY THE BEST!
Review: As a WWII enthusiast, I have seen them all. However, once you see this movie, the rest will gather dust on the video shelf. Nonstop action from the beginning until the end. Hollywood will never see the likes of this type of movie again. Only the Guns of Navarone can compare.

Summary: THE PINNACLE OF WWII MOVIES!
Review: PLEASE RE-RELEASE this sensational WWII drama ASAP! It has all the ambiance of WWII Europe and includes a classic rescue mission guided by Burton and Eastwood. I've just got to get this movie for my collection! I first saw it in 1973 and loved it! Please make it available again ASAP!
