Summary: Where Eagles Dare
Review: This movie should be offered on DVD. This is a classic and we should be able to see it with the quality of DVD. Send you letters to the Studio to release it on DVD.

Summary: The BEST big war movie
Review: Both the novel and the film are superb. From the first bars of stiring music as the film opens to its high speed dramatical conclusion, the film holds attention for its full length. Add to this the dry whiticism of Richard Burton and the naive americanism of Clint Eastward gives an overall rating of Five Stars PLUS!

Summary: I'm Impressed
Review: I'm positive this film coined the term "They don't make them like this anymore." This movie is literally non-stop action from start to finish. I saw this on TCM a few weeks ago. I nearly wet my pants because I had to go to the restroom but there was never a lull in the action. Clint Eastwood is really cool with his short lines and ability to blow away the Germans. Besides all this action, the plot is intriging as well. Very refreshing break from the current flicks Hollywood is throwing out. Buy this video, believe me, it will be one of the smartest buying decisions you'll ever make.

Summary: The All Time Masterpiece!
Review: If anybody appreciates absolutely fabulous script, film score, and overall outcome of the film then it will be rather obvious that this film is one of the all time classics. I only wish this film would be released on DVD and the soundrack would be available on CD. I wonder why the MGM didn't do it yet! I am absolutely sure that such fabulous film would find MANY loyal viewers who are passionate about its content, music, picture, and thrilling action. In my opinion if anybody is looking for an exciting and powerfully emotional WWII movie then there is nothing better then Where Eagles Dare. It is a #1. Period.

Summary: Visit "Where Eagles Dare" in the summer
Review: This thrilling movie from the seventies has no autentical history behind, but you can nearly go by same gondola like in the movie. Go to the Untersbergbahn 10 km south of Salzburg, Austria. If you will visit the exciting SS-castle in the mowie, you should go to Burg Hohenwerfen, also situated south of Salzburg, abouth 70 km from the city. Thease facts makes the mowie, Where Eagles Dare, worth to see many times more!

Summary: Simply the best
Review: Notwithstanding arthouse masterpieces, there are motion pictures made for pure entertainment, and Where Eagles Dare is quite simply the most superb movie movie of all time. It oozes with the feeling of being a timeless classic, and will be remembered for a long time to come, if not forever, as the greatest example of twentieth-century story-telling on film. It gives us a debilitating look at the sign of the times, when in 1969 we had this for entertainment, but now are forced to watch one mind-numbing action-adventure fiasco after another. Only "Die Hard" has come close in modern years. One can see how Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark were greatly influenced by this high-adventure masterpiece- correct me if I'm wrong, but Where Eagles Dare was the first "action"(in the modern sense of the concept) movie Hollywood ever produced, and it still ranks as the greatest of all time, the likes of which Hollywood will never see again. P.S. Contrary to popular belief, this was not an adaptation of a novel - the Hollywood producer (God bless him) went directly to Alistair MacLean, and propositioned him to write a story directly for the screen- one million dollars and a few weeks later, hey pronto, Western culture is delivered the genius that is Where Eagles Dare, ready for the myth-making that is film.

Summary: WHERE DVD DARES
Review: BASED ON ALISTAIR MACLEAN`S BEST SELLING NOVEL THIS FILM TELLS OF A CRACK ALLIED OUTFIT ORDERED INTO AN IMPREGNABLE CASTLE TO RESCUE AN AMERICAN GENERAL.IT SOUNDS QUITE SIMPLE ON PAPER BUT AS WITH MANY OF MR. MACLEANS TALES THINGS SOON TWIST AND TURN ALL OVER THE PLACE.EVEN CLINT GETS A LITTLE CONFUSED LATER ON. SUPPOSEDLY BURTON CHOSE THE FILM BECAUSE IT WAS REMARKED HE HADN`T DONE ANY REAL ACTION ROLES. EVEN SO HE REFUSED TO DO ANY STUNTS EVEN CLIMBING UP AND DOWN LADDERS.EASTWOOD IS GOOD FUN ESPECIALLY WHEN HE DRYLY ORDERS TWO BEERS IN THE GUESTHOUSE.YOU ALMOST EXPECT THE BARMAN TO SLIDE THEM DOWN TO HIM.MARY URE IS PRETTY INNOCUOUS AND JUST PRETTY AND INGRID PITT(SCREAM QUEEN OF MANY A HAMMER HORROR PRODUCTION)PROVES WHAT A LOVELY DISGUISE SHE HAS. A FEW OF THE CABLE CAR EFFECTS LOOK DECIDEDLY ROPEY NOW ESPECIALLY AS BURTON LOOKS TO JUMP ONTO THE RETURNING CAR AFTER PLACING HIS BOMB.YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE IT`S BEEN CRUDELY DRAWN ON WITHOUT THE CABLE.A LOT OF THE ORIGINAL CABLE CAR FOOTAGE WAS SHOT OUTSIDE THE STUDIO BUT DEEMED UNUSABLE DUE TO BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS. PURISTS WILL MOAN AT THE HELICOPTER SEQUENCE OR THAT ONE OF THE GERMAN GENERALS HAS MORE DECORATIONS THAN A CAKE SHOP BUT QUITE FRANKLY WHO CARES.THIS REMAINS A HUGELY EXCITING FILM SO ENJOY. THIS WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED ON LASERDISC IN 1988 AND THEN WE HAVE NOTHING.NO LASERDISC RE-RELEASE OR DVD.MY COPY OF THIS DISC HAS SEVERE PROBLEMS DURING THE PARACHUTE DROP MOMENTARILY FREEZING AND DISPLAYING AWFUL WHITE SPECKS.(NO IT`S NOT SNOW.)HOPEFULLY MGM WILL GET THEIR FINGERS OUT AND PRODUCE A RE-MASTERED COPY WITH AC-3 SOUND & LOADS OF EXTRAS & COMMENTARY &.......WHERE PIGS FLY?

Summary: The Greatest WW2 Movie ever!
Review: Where Eagles Dare is the best ww2 movie ever, I think! Action from the start 'till the end! I recommend it very much.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Entertaining and Great Action
Review: This is a great spy-action-war-intrigue movie. It's not always realistic, but it's not meant to be. Well paced, well acted. Eastwood and Burton are a terrific teaming. The cinematography is superb -- you feel the icy cold winter scenes. The soundtrack is also excellent.

Summary: What a Film!
Review: I only recently saw this film after a friend of mine recommended it to me.I was absolutely astounded. How I missed this film beats me.I knew it existed and who was in it, but I never thought it would be any good.It was one of the best films I ever saw.Richard Burton was brilliant in this film as was Clint Eastwood. The action was superb, especially the scene on top of the cable car.Another thing that I thought stood out was the photography, you have got to see this on the widescreen format to fully appreciate it.It reminded me of some of the Hitchcock thrillers with it's pacing and style.I was speechless when it was all over and when I think of it now I say to myself,They don't make them like this anymore.
