Rating: Summary: Good Movie! Review: I saw the movie recently.I think it is very good movie. The actors made a excellent job about the each personage of The Diary of Anne Frank because they made me cry, felt very sad and think about their hard life in the Annex. The director made a wonderful mix between the sadness, humor, suspense and he kept the attention of the audience in each situation in the novie. This movie is very poignant because I can see the suffer the many people for to keep in "Freedon".I recommend this movie it is very interesting about the Jewish's life.
Rating: Summary: It was an excellent movie Review: I saw the movie and I thought it was great, interesting, exciting and wonderful. I like it, because the actors and the actresses made very good action. I felt a little afraid when a robber came and rob them, and everyone had to stay still so the robber could not hear them in the upper floor. I recommend everyone to see this movie so the people can understand the Jewish Community
Rating: Summary: Different, but the same! Review: My ESL students and I are just now completing reading The Diary of Anne Frank. Last week, we viewed the video to compare the two. We found many differences. For example, in the video, Mr. Van Daan smokes a lot. In the book, Anne does not talk about him smoking a lot. In the video, only 2 "protectors" spend any time visiting the Secret Annex. In the book, there are four. We listed many differences, but we all agreed - the feeling, the suffering, and the overall story are the same. It doesn't matter if some details are different; the horrifying story remains the same! And, as one student said to me after class, "I not only suffered with the people, but I decided the problems in my life aren't important. We learn what real suffering is. I also learned what it was like to be a teenager again!" Anne's problems growing up are universal. The book should be read by people of different ages and countries. It is a teenager's story in an unbelievable, but real situation! It is worthwhile reading and viewing for everyone! We must never forget!

Rating: Summary: It's Okay, But It Doesn't Do the Play Justice Review: "The Diary of Anne Frank," as directed by George Stevens, is certainly not a bad movie. However, it seems to lack the certain spark, sincerity, and tight acting of a truly great movie, and come to think of it, the play on which it is based. The movie is hurt severely by Millie Perkin's, who is whiney and lifeless as Anne Frank. Of all the worthy talent out there, why did they have to pick someone who was not only bad, but 10 years to old for the part. Ed Wynn is dreadfully miscast as grumpy dentist Dussel, and the whole movie is dragged on for so long that the ending is anticlimatic. On the positive side, Joseph Schildkraut and Lou Jacobi recreate the roles they held on Broadway with sincerity and gusto, and Shelly Winters won an Oscar for her delightful performence as Mrs. Van Daan. The screanplay by Albert Hacket and Francis Goodrich is also quite moving. Not a bad showing, but Stevens could have done better.
Rating: Summary: It was an excellent movie Review: I recently saw this movie and thought it was very good. The acting was believable and was pretty good compared to most black and white movies I have seen. Also, even though you know what happens at the end, it is still suspenseful during some parts. Millie Perkins did a very good job as Anne, and so did the other people at their parts. Even though the scene stays the same most of the movie, I never got board of watching it. Similar to the play. I recommend it to people who are interested in the Holocaust or in the life of Anne Frank. Overall a good movie.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This movie is very moving and inspiring. I first saw in the 6th Grade after reading the diary for the 10th time. The acting is very belivable. As is the script. You will enjoy this moving story of not just 8 people strugling to surive but a girl's introuction to womanhood.
Rating: Summary: A Top ten film. Review: I have to tell you that the review that mentioned only wanting to see "The Diary of Anne Frank because Richard Beymer was in it really tickled me because I was the same way when I first saw it..... But it has to rate as one of my all time favorite films. I have recently purchased it for my small collection. I was ten when I first read the diary, hav worn out more copies than I can remember, and still find the film uplifting in spite of the outcome. The fact that the film is in black and white adds to the quality. I thought Shelley Winters as Mrs Van Daan was incredible, and really deserved her Oscar. I wonder if Anne Frank had been released in a different year than Ben Hur, might have won Best Picture!. Millie Perkins as Anne was excellent too. I was really shocked to see her playing Annie Pott's grandma the other night! (We're about the same age!). I remember Ed Wynn from several Disney movies, but his performance as Dussel was great, and what can I say about Lou Jacobi as Mr Van Daan? Gusti Huber,Joseph Schildkraut and Diane Baker as Anne's family are first rate too,and I still love you,Richard! Remember Mrs Quack Quack. Trying to describe this film to someone who has never seen it is difficult, but I strongly encourage everyone to do so. and yes, as Anne said "in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart"...all you need to do is see this film and you will believe it too!
