Review: My comment can make some people mad,but we should be open-minded. Casablanca is not good in performance and CasablancaTis triumph of Hollywood studio system,and there is no other special meaning because no element in the movie is great. You can see Bogie's best performance in the movies "Treasure of Sierra Madre" "Maltese Falcon" which are better than "Casablanca"ΓΏ

Summary: Here's looking at you, kid. For now and forever!
Review: This is the film that launched Humphrey Bogart into cinematic prominence. After using Bogart in supporting roles during the thirties with their other stars like Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney, et al., Warner Bros. finally gave Bogie a chance at the leading role here in this picture. A great story about a city of refugees during a very grim episode of World War II is presented in this film that truly is one of the all time classics.

Summary: The Best of all time? Possibly.
Review: I'd like to start by saying that anyone who doesn't like this movie obviously is culturally deficient, can't recognize greatness and is probably on ritalin (for Attention Deficit Disorder) right now. I mean, what's not to like? The movie has Humphrey Bogart, only the coolest leading man of all timewith H. Ford's Indiana Jones behind him), a REAL babe in Ingrid Bergman, not some plastic material-girl, Claude Rains as the classic opportunist and just the champion-song for atmosphere, "As Time Goes By". Enough said! But that's not enough. Combine these elements with a politically savvy story and plot, a wonderful, sexy romance and a mysterious, exotice locale, and what you have is a world-beater. But wait, there's more! In addition to all the aforementioned elements, the movie had enough quotes and well-delivered lines that it changed forever the English language. Being a lover of Shakespeare, this is what I love the most. "Here's looking at you, kid", "Louis, I think this is beginning of beautiful relationship", "Major Strosser has been shot. Round up the usual suspects," and on, and on, and on. I loved "Citizen Kane", but love is to weak a word to describe my feelings for "Casablanca". The best of all time hands down.

Summary: A Romantic Paean To The Greatest Generation
Review: A world where good was Good and evil, Evil, Casablanca takes us to the heart of the human experience. A gentle, yet correctly seedy glimpse of war and romance at The crucial turning point of the 20th Century, it is the only film I have ever seen four times and shall probably see another four times. Bergman (and Bogart) tug at your heart strings in the primal choice between passion and duty, the self and society. A truly great, romantic film, and the music is unforgettable. Summary: Much, much too much intro
Review: Casablanca itself needs no review or further praise...but this particular tape has at least 1/2 hour of stuff and nonsense at the beginning...my index finger is still aching from holding down the fast forward button to bypass all the BS. Please, please, PLEASE, a _clean_ Casablanca.

Summary: Well Crafted, Well Acted, And Unexceptional
Review: I came to this film rather late, in my early 30s, without having any significant preconceptions concerning it. What I found was an extremely well crafted, well acted, well written "studio" film of the period... but nothing more. While the dialogue is quite good, the script is actually rather predictable. The cinematography is expert but equally unoriginal. And the film as a whole relies almost exclusively upon the talents of its performers to carry off both the predictable story line and the often slow pace of the film as a whole. While it may be almost unamerican to admit it, even after several viewings I fail to find anything remarkable in the film. It is merely a well-crafted film whose stars have been seen to equal and greater advantage in other films. That is all.

Summary: DVD Transfer brilliant
Review: There's nothing more beautiful than black and white on DVD. This transfer is absolutely flawless, and does this great American classic justice. It's like being in a theater again. If you're a hollywood purist, get a DVD player and throw in Casablanca. The rich details, great performances, and brilliant sound track will blow you away.

Summary: True classic and a fine example of Hollywood movie making
Review: Made on a backlot and before computer generated effects, Casablanca relies on a great screenplay and marvelous acting. Bogart and Bergman are the stars but the supporting cast is terrific also. The DVD looks great. This was originally shot in the 4:3 screen ratio, widescreen wasn't in use yet in Hollywood, so you get to see all the picture without letterboxing. An easy 5 star rating.

Summary: The BEST Movie Of All Time
Review: I would have to say this is the best movie of all time... The noir era's crowning achievment if you will... The first time I saw it, it was on TNT one night, and my vcr screwed up, so i didn't get the last 45 mins on tape... I was bummed... So I rented it, and watched it like 4 times... I am going to buy this film along with the soundtrack (because music like this needs to be in my collection). Anyway, great movie... If you haven't seen it, don't even hesitate to buy it... It is great for ALL generations (hell, i'm only 19).

Review: A well told, well acted (considering the time period), and beautifully directed work. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like it. It's a good story. We don't see movies like these anymore, probably because no one has the patients to watch a good movie. Any film buffs out there? If so, you have good reason to watch this classic.
