Summary: Great DVD and movie
Review: Not only is Saving Private Ryan an excellent movie, but the crossover from the theater to your home in DVD is excellent. Watching this movie in your living room with some Dolby Digital is the closest thing to the theater I've ever experienced. Be sure to get this one to go along with your DVD collection.

Summary: Good, but not as good as The Thin Red Line.
Review: Of course, most reviewers know that the opening battle scene in Saving Private Ryan is visually brilliant. But the characterisation leaves something to be desired. The american soldiers are far too modern (Tom Hanks is just the same in every film), not only that, but the characters are rather homogenous, and there are no cowards among the american forces which I find hard to believe. But the worst aspect is the portrayal of the Germans, they are caricatured cowards; Steven Spielberg has a real problem with Germans. Spielberg is not as good a director, in my opinion as Terence Mallik, who has a much greater understanding about how people think and act, and their relation to nature.

Summary: Saving Private Ryan is Steven Spielberg's best movie !
Review: Spielberg you did a great job on this dramatic war movie! Tom Hanks was outstanding character and looked like a Cpt. The D-day beach seen was unbeleivable it was totally relistic! The rest of the movie was so exellent it kept me going through out the whole movie! I think this is the best movie today and no doubt should of one 10 awards and expecially Best Picture and Actor(Tom Hanks)!

Summary: A Must See!
Review: The movie does an excellent job on showing the horrors of D-Day and other events within World War II. However, the plot of the movie which is the search for Private Ryan, is a bit cheesy but makes the movie less boring. Overall I give it 4 stars.

Summary: Every Life Makes A Difference
Review: In "Saving Private Ryan", Spielberg paints a hauntingly painful picture of how precious every life is, and how important it is that we never forget the men and women who died for the "last just war." As the World War II generation begins to pass away we are reminded at how great a sacrifice these men and women made in order for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. Tom Hanks plays a convincing "everyman" as Captain Miller in that it could have been any of us, just an ordinary person (an English teacher in this case), trying to do his job to the best of his ability. The movie is cut in the mold of "It's A Wonderful Life". And the message is the same from both, life is a precious gift. We must never forget the impact that one person, whether a Captain Miller or a George Bailey, has on the rest of mankind. Sadly, both "Saving Private Ryan" and "It's A Wonderful Life" missed out on the Oscar for best picture of their respective years. Both films will undoubtedly be viewed as national treasures for generations to come.

Review: this movie made me feel like i was actually at this battle... bt remember all of you writing about the lack of Brits and what an insult it is for them not to be in it..it WAS AN AMERICAN BATTLE... FOUGHT BY AMERICAN TROOPS... should they have dropped an english squad in there just to make everyone happy? sheesh..think about it

Summary: Criminally Superb
Review: First of all I`m a massive Hanks fan and I think this film reflects his true acting ability. This film touched my heart like no other simply because of the way Spielberg portrayed his characters. It is the kind of film that I could not stop thinking about hours, even days after I first witnessed this true masterpiece. A true reflection of the films depth is the beach massacre at the begining of the film, and how they managed to sustain the high level of realism and entertainment throughout was incredible. SPIELBERG IS A TRUE GENIUS ! This film is a must, it changed my perception of true film making.

Summary: An Masterpiece film not only about the war.
Review: Tom hanks bring like always since big delivers great and strong performances from Phildelphia, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13 and His Uncrited Surporting Performance in Richard Donner`s Radio Flyer. His another performances on Comedy also are great, including doing the voice of Woody in Toy Story 1 and 2.

Steven Speilberg, one of his strong films and personal film with Schindler`s List. Also he win a Oscar For His Well Deserve As Director For SPR.

Great Performances all around in this film. Realistic Look about the war. Like i say, it not only about the war is about friendship with people you are with. Also saving one man before he get killed, like his three brothers. If they can get to him first, to be sent home.

DVD`s has an strong anamorphic Widescreen(1.85:1)transer and an strong DTS 5.1 Surround and also on Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Grade:A.

Summary: pure fiction
Review: This is a shocking case of Steven Speilberg trying to rewrite history and in the process he has tarnished the memory of the lives of the thousands of people who died during the war. From watching this film you would certainly get the impression that the Americans were the only people there and that (although they arrived a few years late) they won the war single handedly. Many war veterans from countries all over the world - England, Russia, France, Canada etc will find this film a little insulting and offensive. This movie is extremely over patriotic, as are many American war films. Although there are many good scenes in this film they are sadly over shadowed by constant flag waving. The first shot of the stars and stripes appears after only a few seconds and from the opening shot you know you're in for a sickening display of nationalism.

This movie had huge potential, its a shame Spielberg had to let nationalistic pride get in the way of it. Less is more next time Steven.
