Summary: Ignore the Critics!!
Review: I went to this movie expecting the worst. Every critic I heard or read had nothing but negative things to say about it. The love triangle does get a little tiresome at times, but the overall feeling of the film is authentic, with a few minor glitches. The special effects were superb. I have heard that they look very fake, but I would have to vigorously disagree. The shots of the planes hitting the ships are as good as any I have ever seen, in the same league as the special effects in Saving Private Ryan. The best actor in the movie is Jon Voight. He is almost unrecognizable as FDR. The three leads are a bit too pretty, but I'll bet most of the pilots of World War II were dashing, and the nurses pretty. It's a shame the makers of this movie have to be so concerned about the feelings of the Japanese. It is history, for goodness sake. It does not disparage the Japanese. As a matter of fact, it shows them to be meticulous planners and very intelligent. I plan to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD. I'd again like to emphasize how wrong the critics are. I was very surprised, because I usually take what critics say to heart. Not anymore.

Summary: Too Damn Good To Miss
Review: It was fantastic... Don't miss this film. I don't care what reviews you've read, if you liked "Titanic", this is the one for you... Personally I thought that this was much better than "Titanic".

Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett put in award-winning caliber performances, please, don't miss this, it's soo good. If you want action, or romance, see it! This is the PERFECT date movie.

Summary: Could Very Well Be One of the Best Ever
Review: After just getting back from watching Pearl Harbor in the theaters, I do have to say that this ranks as one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. The movie has an excellent plot and a love story that is NOT stupidly intertwined like many. The cinematography is unlike any other movie ever made. It is totally different and exceptionally incredible! The movie is three hours long but I was on the edge of my seat with my mouth hanging open the ENTIRE movie. The acting is awesome and the special effects are truly amazing. I advise everyone to go see this movie in the theaters while you can because you will be impressed. DO NOT listen to Roger Ebert who says this movie was horrible. He doesn't appreciate the patriotism and honor in this movie. I give Pearl Harbor a profound 5 stars and I will go see it again for sure.

Summary: PEARL HARBOR
Review: Does it make any sense to you that a bunch of DRAFT DODGERS play in this WWII movie? And I can't stand all these interviews with the actors--like they really know how Pearl Harbor was like--yeah right. Do yourself a favor and read GORDON W. PRANGE'S heavy tome AT DAWN WE SLEPT. He spent 50 years primarily on the subject of Pearl Harbor--why, he even mentions the NAME of the person who dropped the fatal bomb on the Arizona. If you're some new-generation-of-movies moron you might like this movie for its special FX, but I got a feeling that it's going to be biased. Let's face it, BOTH sides really botched things up. Sure the attack on Pearl Harbor is interesting, but to me, an even more interesting subject are the events leading up to the attack and the events afterwards. This movie probably has as much depth on the subject on Pearl Harbor as your biased high-school textbook. I won't see this movie in theatres--probably later. Three stars because the battle scenes DO look convincing, but do we really need a TITANIC-style movie? (First half of the movie is devoted to love, second half devoted to the tragedy.)

Summary: Best Movie I Have Ever Seen
Review: This movie is absolutely terrific. I am 54 years old. My uncle was killed by the Japanese in WWII and my father fought the Japanese in the Pacific. As a result I am well educated as to the actual events of this terribe time. The movie was extemely authenic and the love story worked very well. This movie is a must see for everyone who was not born until after 1960 and do not have a real appreciation for the sacrifices made to achieve our liberty. My hat is off to the producers, directors, and actors who played a part in creating this tremendous movie.

Summary: 3 hours too long!!!!
Review: Holy god this movie eats! If you're a hopeful filmaker, then see this film...because you'll then know how not to make one!! Why is it that when you combine the vomit-inducing names of Bruckheimer, Bay, and Affleck, the result is always some cheesed-up, explosion-filled, wannabe drama?! That's the problem with this movie, it doesn't know what it wants to be, and neither do the characters. The ever-nauseating affleck spends the whole 3 hours switching from one kind of character to another. He can't figure out if he wants to be a goof ball, serious romantic, or stoic fighter...all of which he can't portray any better than a rock could! Never mind the fact that his accent kept slipping. Basically, everything about this movie is bad (except obviously the visuals, but pretty pictures do not a movie make). The casting was the first mistake, cause Affleck is bad in anything. Every other actor might be good if the script was better. They all spend most of their breath spouting out poorly-worded mindless drivel the likes of which have rarely ever been seen before!! You can only hear lines like "what will we be like after the war" or "i think world war 2 just started" so many times before you have to stuff something in your ears! Cuba's lines are especially cheesy. He basically plays the same character that he played in Men of Honor, and it's not that good. One thing that really surprised me was the music. Hans Zimmer is normally known for creating original scores that really sound great...but not this time. For some reason, he got lazy, turned into some sort of James Horner, and pretty much just reused the soundtrack from The Thin Red Line. A lot of the shots were directly taken from a good WW2 film, Saving Private Ryan. The fade to an American flag and cinematography of rising and sinking in the water (raid on the beach), drowning out the sound when you're submerged. That's blatantly not original, it's not even an homage. Let's see here...ah yes! Predictability! I called everything in this movie an hour before it occurred! Nothing is surprising, not even when less famous actors die...hint hint.

Summary: 3 hours of Hollywood magic!
Review: "Pearl Harbor" is lame.

Ever since Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan," the American public has been wistfully remembering the romance, heroism, and sacrifice of World War II. We were finally forced to reconcile the fact that victories in Europe and the Pacific were earned with blood and were not a foregone conclusion, as war movies and irresponsible history texts have taught us.

That's what ultimately derails "Pearl Harbor." It isn't propelled by Spielberg's sense of honor - however bloated with sentimentality his films may be - and to a certain extent "Pearl Harbor" deserves its comparisons to "Titanic." Of course, overall it isn't nearly as wretched as "Titanic", but director Michael Bay is definitely aiming for as large a summer audience as possible. The result is a little lovin', a little fightin', and a whole lot of historical embellishment. World War II buffs might grimace at some of the historical fiction, but true historians may even be irked if not offended. It's that hokey.

But the reason we've always gone to films is to see what we don't see in real life, and there are some moments of other-worldly greatness in this film. The first dogfight is a marvel of modern special effects, only to look silly when the mind-blowing attack at Pearl comes.

Even if one ignores "Pearl Harbor"'s thematic problems, you can't help but notice that it strays a little, with each third of the film a distinct story held together only by gooey romantic interplay, and it just feels weird. I'm giving this film one star for the effects, and another for the wave of Pearl Harbor specials which will surely deluge cable TV. At least the History Channel usually gets it right.

Summary: Best Movie Ever
Review: In my opinion this is the best movie ever. No one wanted to get up the whole time because this movie was so action packed and intense they thought they would miss something. The special effects are so great it's like you are actually there, not that I was. I think this is a great movie for any war veteran, or just plain people like me. I really enjoyed this movie and there is no reason not to see it.

Summary: Great movie
Review: Well this movie is amazing, it looks wonderful and the people who shot it can be pleased. The story is very good as well and had me in tears a couple spots and my dad who don't get into movies much said he loved it.

It is very close to what happen (they do add some fake people in there for the story and all) but i thought (and i heard some vet whowas there) say they done better then any other had before.

Summary: Horrid, inaccurate piece
Review: I am stunned. There are no other words to discribe how I feel after seeing this movie. It is boring, unromantic (even though it relaly is an attempt at an old fashioned wartime romance) and historically inaccurate. I mean come on, the Japanese brooding over whether to attack? It's quite obvious that Disney has once again put too much concern into whether they're going to offend a small group of people. Disney is obviously concerned about Tokyo Disneyland ticket sales dropping. Remember them changing "Pirates of the Carribean" to get feminsts off their backs? That is the same type of revisionist junk they've done here. Avoid this movie. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
