Summary: wonderful movie with incredible love story
Review: My son and I loved Pearl Harbor. I am a World War II "buff," and Pearl Harbor clarified and defined of what is really important in LIFE within the scope of the human condition; living in the greatest country on earth. The special effects that depicted the massive attack and destruction of Pearl Harbor were incredible. The beautiful and predictable love story was not typical during that time, but rather an indicative depiction of what many women and men went through during the turbulance of that war era. I would like to extend my feelings, even though my words have been said time and time again and seem inadequate, to thank and God Bless the American soldiers and American nurses who served and sacrificed their lives in the Pacific and European War Front and all the veterans of all wars including the soldiers who are presently serving, wherever they are today. I also would like to "blast" the critics for panning this wondeful love story. Disney Studios and Michael Bay, don't pay any attention to them. I plan to see it again!

Summary: Fantastic movie!
Review: The greatest WWII movie I've ever seen. The love story of the central characters is a bit drawn out, but it gives the movie some outside direction and takes you away from the war a bit. In regards to the attack and the preparations for it, the film was extremely accurate. The acting was great, the cinematography fantastic, and the devestating reality of it all will crush your heart. I recommend the movie for everyone, young and old alike. It certainly isn't your typical war movie. It's our history, our heritage. My hat off to those who were there, defending the Pacific gateway of our country.

Summary: Epic Bore
Review: This has got to be one of the most disappointing movies I have seen in many years. Aside from the forty-five minutes where bombs rain down on Pearl Harbor, the movie is an embarrassment to film making. The love story is a farce and will make you cringe at every cheesy one-liner. The fact that this movie is being hailed as an epic is an insult to our intelligence and is simply a waste of three hours.

Summary: They dont make them like this anymore
Review: This was a great movie, great story line made you care about the characters. Great action made you feel like you were there. Even sprinkled with comedy, this film has it all. If only they made more movies like this today instead of all of the juvenile moronic junk. For those who complain that it was not made to be a "documentary", give me a break, drrrrrr, it's called a hollywood movie. Dont go to the movies for entertainment, stay home and watch 24 hrs a day of the Discovery channel or some John Wayne movie you think is all accurate. Besides, those dummmies we call our kids today will take home more of a theme of history from this then they did from 12 years of schooling where they learn nothing about history anyway....drrrrrrrr

Summary: Excellent movie that i never seen before!!
Review: A fanstatic and the best movie that i've seen this year!!

Summary: Incredible. Awesome. Don't Listen to Any Cynics.
Review: This is an incredible film. If you like airplanes and aerial footage, you'll love Pearl Harbor. If you like love stories with conflicting emotions set against the sweep of history, you'll love it even more. Think about Gone With The Wind, Dr.Zhivago, The Way We Were, Empire of the Sun, and Saving Private Ryan, and you'll have an idea what to expect. The stark confusion and carnage of the Japanese attack on a peaceful Sunday morning is captured powerfully in a way I've never seen or read before, not in history, literature, or film. A strong, unifying theme exists between the movie's historical and fictional sides: that of an America and a generation that loses its innocence, and no matter what individual hopes and dreams might have been, were tranformed. They move on toward greatness, but nothing ends up as they might have imagined--or preferred. It is a story about love, friendship, sacrifice and patriotism. Don't listen to any cynics, who in reviews tryd to cut the movie down for being one hour longer than the actual Japanese attack, for the romantic story being too "hokey," or (God forbid) being anti-Japanese (It isn't. If anything, it's too respectful). Their kind of critical whining isn't the "stuff" that makes a nation great, which is what Pearl Harbor ultimately is about. Jon Voight as FDR and Dan Akroyd as a Naval Intelligence analyst deserve Oscars for their performances (against type) and they're not even central to the story: it's the ordinary soliders and seamen who are the stars.. This is a great movie. You'll feel the emotions. You'll get angry. You'll cry. You'll commit. And you'll be proud. It's a helluva great tribute, opening on a Memorial Day weekend.

Summary: DON'T LET THE CRITICS KEEP YOU AWAY!!!!
Review: This film was bound to receive the mixed reviews that it did. I am here to tell you that the critics were FAR TOO HARD on "Pearl Harbor." Here is an exciting, well-acted, carefully conceived and directed film that deserves the blockbuster status accorded many other less-deserving pictures.

Is it full of war-movie cliches? Absolutely! Is the romance a little heavy on the sap-o-meter? Absolutely! Are the stars a wee bit too starry? Absolutely! Does any of this matter? Not to the sold-out audience I just saw it with! They laughed, they cried, they cheered...It was the most demonstrative response I've seen in a movie theatre since "Titanic," and before that, who can remember?

Rush to catch this one on the "big screen," folks. It begs to be seen large and loud and with other people. I saw tough guys weeping at this one. You will feel VERY American and VERY bonded with your fellow audience members. It's that kind of picture. Please, please just resist going out and becoming a Republican afterwards!

As a side-note, in my humble opinion, this is some of the best work Alec Baldwin has done on screen. He pulls away from some of the "cliched-ness" of his role and gives us an enormous amount of humanity and sensitivity. Applause also to the brilliant Mako, who fights an uphill battle as the Japanese commander and at least succeeds in winning audience understanding, if not really approval.

So, screw the critics and go wave a flag and shed a few tears for the women and men who lost their lives needlessly in 1941... if you're a REAL movie fan, you might also choke up at this meticulous homage to the great war films of the past.

Summary: ...
Review: Was an excellent movie - particularly the cast, storyline - very much like a great 1940s/1950s b/w WWII flick - but made for today's audiences.

The only thing that really bothered me was the historical revisionism for the sake of commerical gains in Japan (which usually accounts for 40% of overseas box office receipts). The movie-makers portray the Japanese decision to deliberately and intentionally bomb and kill thousands of Americans at Pearl Harbor - as some kind of unavoidable "reaction" to something America did. For those who know no better, especially the young, they may actually take the movie version as the real thing. How sad and tragic that would be - for all those American soliders who were killed then. As a sign of respect and rememberance, the movie-makers should have at least made an effort at the end of the film to clarify the historical facts.

Summary: AWSOME MOVIE
Review: Just got to the movies and we had to wait a few minutes to get our ticket and wait 40 minutes to a movie I felt was so great. I fell in love with the story lines and boy a tear jerker if you know what I mean. You will laugh and cry in the action will sweep you off your seats.

LOVE THE MOVIE

Summary: A must-see among summer movies
Review: Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, and Kate Beckinsale were the main characters in the story, and what a story it is. Honestly, I wasn't expecting any backstory to be wrapped around the events of Pearl Harbor much like the writers did with this one. I didn't think it would work. But it did, and it worked well.

Afflech and Josh were two childhood friends who dreamed of being combat pilots for the military since they were kids. Well, they soon got their chance as they grew older and enlisted in the military. The love triangle between Ben, Josh, and Kate was played out perfectly and adds emotion to the pre-battle part of the movie. This is pretty much what the movie revolves around, with the actual attack @ Pearl Harbor being secondary. It's the story that's important to this movie, and that's always good to see for movies that deal largely with action.

Pearl Harbor ranks up there (although doesn't surpass) Saving Private Ryan as one of my favorite WW2 films, if not films in general, of all time. Cuba Gooding Jr., Alec Baldwin, Dan Akroyd, and Jon Voight all surprised me with great performances (not that I expected them to be bad, but I didn't know they would be in the movie at all). The acting was dead-on throughout the entire film, and the effects and story were perfect. It's a three hour film, and it's not one of those movies where the time whizzed by. But even though you knew it was long, you were told a story that captivated you the entire time. I didn't walk out of the theater thinking of how long it was, but instead how great it was. And that's what's important.
