Rating: Summary: THIS IS WHAT DVD WAS MADE FOR Review: Now this is the reason why I bought a DVD player. Superb picture quality (just look at this compared to a VHS copy at your local video store), unbelievable sound transfer for the date of the movie, and above all else, a great film! With all the extra features, there's no reason not to get this film!
Rating: Summary: The first "real" action film. Review: Stallone made it a classic, Not Arnold,(in fact I think Arnold would have ruined the film.) The cops in the movie remind me of the cops back home. They have nothing better to do but fill up their quota. I think First Blood was the begining of the Action Era, which is still going on today. The story is pretty simple, a Vietnam vet gets picked up in a small town, and after several flashbacks of Nam, he escapes(Don't blame him myself). In fact, I would of killed them all. Rambo must of been some nice guy to let them all live.
Rating: Summary: Stallone's best movie Review: the story is as old as the hills, but the way it was made ,made it great. Rambo is the man and he proved it. He kicked everybodys a**. Stallone went from beating up cops to playing cops in other movies.
Rating: Summary: Good fake action movie Review: This is a very good fake action movie. It's about a vet who wanders into a hick town and is obviously discriminated against and so he retaliates and gives the National guard and local police a little war.
Rating: Summary: fabulus movie! Review: The movie kwikly gits under way with the smart mouth cop He take Rambo to jail and try to shave him. Rambo bust loos and git away they surch for him in mountans. he woonds most of them and goes on to bloe up the town he also get the sheriff in the end . My faverit movei git it!
Rating: Summary: hmmmmmmmmmmmm Review: Disgruntled war vet gets angry at small town cops who hassel him. Puts on headband and deerhide and starts kicking ***. Goes overboard when colonel/ex army commander shows up and tells cops that they just ****** off superman. Worth a look though and certainly better than the sequels where superman has an endless supply of exploding arrows. Check out a youthful ex-NYPD blue cop who wants nothing to do with John Rambo.
Rating: Summary: Much better than a lot of people think Review: I think widescreen DVD will open some people eyes on a very good cinematography and acting (excluding Sly, who will be better playing numb people). DVD production is excelent (trivia game, director's commentary) and video transfer is much better then expected for 15-year old movie.
Rating: Summary: Beg, Buy or Borrow. Review: This film is so misunderstood. It's not about violence, guns or knives. It's not even about Small Town narrow minds. It's about one man and his struggle to re-enter a society which called on him in their hour of need then forgot him in his - the violence is just background noise. It's unfortunate this film is grouped together with it's subsequent sequels. Rambo II and III are of a different genre. Where as they are all hack and slash, First Blood is more subtle, more tragic. Summed up when Rambo, in tears, recalls how back in Vietnam he comanded multi million dollar gunboats, tanks, helicopters, back home he can't even wash cars. Not to be missed. Brilliant stuff.
Rating: Summary: A tremendous movie.... Review: When Sylvester Stallone is involved....you know youre going to get terrific action. But the movies story and Stallones character of John Rambo are very interesting as well. The thing that appealed to me most of all in this movie is Rambo barely says 2 words througout the whole movie and at the end he just blows up. He explodes about the war, his buddies getting killed, etc. Its an explosive and dramatic moment....the topper of the whole movie. Again, terrific movie, if youre into action/drama, take a look at this one, its great!!!
Rating: Summary: First Blood is still best of three Rambo movies Review: The first Rambo movie called First Blood was released in the fall of 1982. The movie was arguably Sylvester Stallone's best performance since Rocky II. First Blood is about a Vietnam veteran named John Rambo who comes to a small town in Washington the state(it was actually filmed in the dead of British Columbia, Canada's winter of 1981/82) to meet a fellow comrade/friend from his elite Green Beret unit. When he discovers that he died of cancer, Rambo sadly in disbelief makes his way into town for a bite to eat and instead winds up being harassed and arrested by the hick local Sheriff Will Teasle(Brian Dennehy). While in custody, Rambo is abused by Deputy Galt(Jack Starrett) and fellow sheriffs Ward and others but a flashback to being abused and tortured in a POW prison while being processed causes Rambo to snap and manages to escape jail by taking out five cops and sparking an all out manhunt between 200 people versus one Rambo. This film is a 96 minute action rollercoaster highlighted by the jail escape and subsequent chase and fighting with the national guard. Jack Starrett was great as the hillbilly cop that did all of the abusing while David Caruso was fine as the only deputy that had a conscience and a heart and did not abuse Rambo. Dennehy was superb and made a worthy opponent for Rambo. Richard Crenna gave his best performance as Rambo's former Colonel Sam Trautman and he and Dennehy play off one another quite well(originally Kirk Douglas was to play Trautman but that fell through at the last minute). Despite the fact he had very limited speaking parts, First Blood was one of Stallone's best performances highlighted by the Vietnam speech near the end of the film. (..). This DVD is well worth the money.
