Summary: Excellent flick
Review: I'm certainly not a fan of "Mumbles" Stallone, but I'll give him credit where credit is due: he's done at least two superb films. _Rocky_ and _First Blood._ The latter is based on David Morrell's novel of the same name, but is only superficially related to it. If you read the novel don't expect it to be anything like the movie. It's much darker, and has a great deal of slaughter. It's more of a horror novel than anything else (not surprisingly, Morrell has written straight horror). The movie, on the other hand, tends to be more action/adventure. But it's a lot more than that. It illustrates the plight of a returning Vietnam vet who has been transformed into a killing machine and can't fit into society. He can't hold a job and can only wander from town to town. Unfortunately, he enters the wrong town, runs into the wrong cop, and from there all hell breaks lose. Even though he film's going on 20 years old, it still holds up very well. I suspect it always will.

Review: You will not look the same way at law enforcement. When some kings**t cop puts a parking ticket on your car you may ask him, "Why you keep pushin me?".Tell your nagging wife to, "Let it go.......let it go." Put on a burlap bag for a shirt, sharpen your knife and watch this flick 5 times a day.

Review: What can I say, this movie rocks! from beginning to end,
this movie hits you right in the gut. From the opening scene of John Rambo finding out his only surviving war buddy, succumbed to cancer to being badgered and tormented by the local sheriff! The acting is superb and so is the action. This film has a very
realistic appeal to it with lots of good ideas and great camera work and not over produced! which also lacks in movies today, using over produced scenes w/computer graphics, poor acting and story lines! This film is under 1 1/2 hrs long, but there is more heart, action, and great acting that does not even compare to movies today that drag out over 3 hrs long!! Artisan does an excellent job of putting out this movie, great widescreen edition and cool on screen menu w/ extras. What a difference compared to video tape. The surround sound is good too. What really would have made the DVD extra nice, if the sound was in 5.1 digital with better bass for explosions. Aside from that I give this movie 4 1/2 stars!

Summary: Excellent sample of early 1980's film...
Review: The Rambo franchise began not as a mindless, flag-waving action saga, but as a thoughtful exploration of post-Vietnam America. Unfortunately, the second and third installments in the franchise were cheesy 80's action, which is how the character of John Rambo has been remembered; a cartoonish killing machine. Initially, Rambo was an innocent man, shocked by redneck local cops into reliving his Vietnam experience, and could not stop himself from reacting. Yet even so, Rambo knows right from wrong, prefering clear demonstrations of his military training in place of simply killing his enemies. In this first film, impression was far worse than truth; Rambo kills no one, and the only obvious death (and later, an implied death in a car crash), are not directly caused by anti-hero Rambo. However, the film was (and still is), accused of being flooded with violence and killing. If you take a moment and think past the stunts and the action, Rambo's search for place in a country unwilling to acknowledge his sacrifices is a poignant and striking portrayal of what Vietnam vets really faced upon their return home. No one wanted to think about the war, and our vets were a painful reminder to a nation's fragile ego that we had lost. In the 1980's, acceptance gradually dawned, and Vietnam became a popular subject for movies. The movies became a sort of national catharsis, allowing us to heal through fantasies, such as a Special Forces vet going back to 'Nam and killing a bunch of VC, freeing POWs, and taking revenge in a typically red, white, and blue fashion. The second Rambo film and Chuck Norris' "Missing in Action" series are typical of the war as portrayed by Hollywood in the 80's. "First Blood" was one of the first films to deal with the scars of Vietnam intellegently. That's right; an intellegent action film about the effect of the Vietnam war. Unlike the book, the John Rambo of the film is not so much a psychotic killer as he is a deeply hurt and emotionally damaged human being. The final confrontation and Vietnam "speech" are a wonderful, moving, and thoughtful commentary on the travesty inflicted on our soldiers by a thoughtless American public. The cinematography and direction are excellent, and Stallone gives the best performance of his career as the troubled veteran. Great locations and action highlight one of the most important mainstream films of the early 80's.

Summary: War gone wrong
Review: Out of the three Rambo movies I have seen. I enjoyed this film the most. Sly Stone plays John Rambo ex-Vietnam Veteran, Green Beret, medal of honor winner who returns from the war looking for an ex army buddy in small town U.S.A. only to find that his friend has died of cancer from chemical weapons that were used over seas. As Rambo walks through this small town the local sheriff agitates him to a point of aggression, even though Rambo warns him to "Let it go or I will give you a war you won't believe". The viewer has to realize that in some places in America drifters and outsiders are feared and the local law enforcement officers don't take kindly to strangers. After being harassed at the police station Rambo has a wartime flash back and reverts back to his special forces training and rains havoc on an inexperience National Guard and State and County Police units. The Army calls in Rambo's old commander Col. Chapmen who finally gets Rambo to calm down and to realize that he is fighting against the country he loves and that he volunteered to defend. Great movie. Good story line and realistic action. Thumbs up!

Review: Sly preform really well in this movie. I have been watching First blood since I was a kid and I never got bored of it. evreywhere in the film there is action. I mostly liked the part where Rambo jumps off a cliff avoiding from being shot at.

Summary: The Movie That Started A Trend!!!
Review: John Rambo is just a guy who wants to be left alone so he can find an old comrade of his from the Vietnam war. But as he walks into a small town he is quickly harassed by a local lawman. John tries to keep his cool as the foul mouthed law man escorts him back to the end of the city limits, basically letting him know that he is not welcomed. But, as the sheriff drives away, he looks in his rear view mirror to find John making his way back into town. Infuriated, the sheriff stops this time and arrests John, even though he had done nothing wrong, BIG MISTAKE!!! You see John is an ex Green Beret, and one of the Army's best. Once John is taken into the police department, he is roughed up by deputies left and right. But, when they try to clean him up and give him a shave, John has a flash back to when he was a POW. He see's the razor as a knife, and he goes off the deep end. He royally kicks butt, and makes his escape out into the wilderness. As the search for him begins, the posse quickly learns that this is no run-of-the-mill kind of guy, he's smart, very smart. Once he's out in the wilderness, John quickly regains his wits, and studies how to make his next move. Lots of drama, lots of action, suspense, and terror. Does he make it out alive? You don't honestly think I would tell you do you?
(grinning) The movie has strong language but, thankfully no sex scenes. This is the movie that started not only a trend, but a term as well. The Rambo knives became a very popular and hot collectible and the term "Rambo" was given to anyone who displayed a gung-ho attitude. This movie is inspiring, and well worth it to see several times over. The plot is excellent, and the movie is now considered a classic!!!

Summary: A One Man War!
Review: Chances are you've heard of John Rambo. But, if you were living under a rock or born in the past couple years, you might not be aware of him. Rambo was an action adventure character that made his first appearance in this film, FIRST BLOOD. But, beyond his screen appearances, Rambo has become a part of the world's pop culture. From cartoons to video games or from playground activity to Presidential speeches, John is there. The film introduces John as a Viet Nam vet who has outlived everyone from his battalion. And after another empty reunion in the Pacific Northwest, Sherrif Will Teasle mistreats him. He is hassled and arrested by Teasle's men but when they unintentionally dig out Viet Nam memories, John escapes to the mountains. Everyone, including the National Guard pursues him but now they are on John's territory, all of his guerrilla warfare training is put to use. The only hope for the town comes with the arrival of Rambo's commanding officer, Colonel Samuel Trautman. What was once a peaceful little town quickly becomes a war zone... Sylester Stallone created the role of Rambo and it is easily one of his best roles. Rambo is physically adept while speech is usually monosyllabic. This role requires a lot of stunt work and it is apparent that Stallone did much of his own impressive work. Brian Dennehy plays the power hungry sheriff that just doesn't know when to quit. Dennehy is wonderfully hateable always ready to flash his grin, a grin you'd want to wipe off his face. Richard Crenna plays Trautman whose role is limited to plot exposition and one final scene as a father figure to John. In the novel the film was based on, Trautman kills Rambo at the end. But, that would not allow for sequels! Rambo would appear in two more films to date, both of a different tone then this dark offering. FIRST BLOOD is a great action film that launched a new genre. This Special Edition DVD has an amazing audio transfer. The DTS can challenge even the best sound systems! Also, the widescreen video transfer is crisp and beautiful, capturing the Pacific Northwest (Actually filmed in Canada). There is a new documentary looking back twenty years to the stories creation as well as a running commentary. These are both welcome additions, but they don't carry the power of the film. This DVD was also made available in the Rambo Trilogy boxset.

as he meet's the cocky town Sherrif Will Teitel who when going
back into the town arrests him on the spot.In the police station
Will and the rest of his crew treat Rambo like an immagrent when
he experiences horrific flashbacks Rambo fights back and escapes
them. But not without giving them a war they would never forget useing every means Rambo was trained to do , He would let the
Sherrif know what Veitnam was beacuse he was about to bring it
to them,When Col Troutmen shows up the sherrif questions him on
his apperance but he is there to bring his vetiran home before
he unleashes more fury on the town.In this classic film that started a genere.
