Rating: Summary: A Beautiful Life Review: I love this movie, because the story is funny and education. It's one of my favorite movies. It made me think about educating the children who are growing up and that future is very important. The director is Roberto Benign. He played a father in this movie. A woman played his wife. In fact, the woman is his real wife.
The story happened in Italy during the war. I thought the father was very brave. He did many things for his family. He gave his son a good childhood. They all lived in a small city in Italy. On time, the father was arrested by soldiers. The government didn't like Italians. So many Italians were killed. The father didn't want his son to be in the shadow of war. He told his son "It is a game." So many people lived with the shadow of war. The father let his son have a good childhood. Many parents just care about material life for their children. Some of them don't care about their minds.
From this movie, it made me think and let me learn about love without pressure. Even though the father had trouble, he would solve it with a smile and humor. It's really important to have a healthy childhood. He was had high emotional quotient.
Rating: Summary: Wonferful Review: This movie is one of the best I have ever seen. It was a beautiful story about a man who tried to save the son from the horror of what was happening to his people. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Review For "Life Is Beautiful" Review: Even though this movie is funny here and there, it is quite flat. The movie is meant to be a Comedy, but all it is really, is joking about the darkest, most terrible time in the 20th history. I still give it a 4 star though, because some parts of it where, I must say, hillarious. The end is a little sad, although not really. The charecters are quite intresting, but the story is pretty flat. It is funny, though, hillarious. So dont watch this movie if you expect to see this tear jerking, grim movie about World War 2.
Rating: Summary: Do not see unless you want your heart ripped out Review: I'm in the minority of people who hard a very hard time with this movie. Yes, there was much that I appreciated about it, especially the magical romance in the first half. When the action moved to the concentration camp, I wish I had followed my gut instinct and turned the movie off then and there. Setting the rest of this movie in a concentration camp just ddoesn't work for me. I cannot ignore the knowledge that great cruelty and unimaginable suffering occured in places like this. If you are a sensitive person, I suggest you skip this movie. It'll rip your heart out by making you care so deeply about the characters and then.... well I don't want to give away the ending. Let's just say, I was left very sad, NOT uplifted at all.
Rating: Summary: seriously the worst movie i ever saw Review: apart from some b-movies. this is the worst movie i ever saw in my life. we watched it back then in school, so i couldnt escape its idiocity how anyone with half a brain could think this film is good is beyond me. i even saw it in original italian back then, that didnt make it less awful tho. the movie had no point, it had an incredibly weak, foreseeable plot, bad acting (although i might be biased here because i hate begnini), and the most unrealistic, childish...way the holocaust was ever displayed. it is one of those works of "art" (may it be books or movies), that no one would ever, ever care or even hear about, if they didnt touch that one topic that polarizes the ppl so much. but if you are not a sheep, and actually dare to say any anti-holocaust movie isnt good, you can see through this one very easily and what you see is a very, very, bad b-movie
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, inspiring, heart-wrenching triumph of a film Review: This is possibly my favourite film ever. It is truly rare that I buy films, but in this case I simply had to. The truth is, this film is an absolutely beautiful work of art - truly living up to the word 'art' in every way. Whilst some have called this a comedy about the holocaust, I beg to differ. This is a drama which absolutely brings out the sadness and pain of the Holocaust in every way, so as to bring tears to the eye. But it also brings us Guido, the irrepressably optimistic man who will do anything to keep fighting to make life good for himself and his son, even at the Nazi concentration camps. His determination is very admirable. Those who say this film is an insult to Jews - have you even seen this film? This, more than any other film, more than any facts and figures, made me realise how terrible and unnecessary the Holocaust really was. This film brings moments of intense sadness and despair which remind you this, but also moments of pure cinematographic joy - the sequence where the family are on the bike together, for example, and the closing frame with the reunion of the mother and son. In these instances, life truly is beautiful. This film teaches to even in the depths of despair we can find something to live for; something to believe in, something to make life beautiful. It is a brave film, and it is a brave character that it centres round. If there were more people like Guido, blessed with the sort of kindness of heart and will to keep smiling that he is, the world would be a better place.
Rating: Summary: Life is Beautiful REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL Review: Had this not been a foreign film, the Oscar for best picture would have been in the bag. Packed from start to finish with laughter and tears, Life is Beautiful remains one of my favorite movie experiences. Originally in Italian, the DVD has a perfect English audio track.
Rating: Summary: Worth the 90 minutes...and more Review: Originally, I started watching the film because I was in bed, had a headache, and was feeling too sluggish to change the channel. So many times, I was tempted to change the channel or switch the television off because the subtitles were making my headache worse, and the movie moved rather slowly at the very beginning. But as I saw more and more, I just had to see the rest of the film. The headache and fatigue flew out the window, and was replaced by hysterical laughter and crying. Such is the magic of this movie, that one can feel a mass of conflicting emotions all at the same time. I won't bother with the synopsis of the film here, as this has been dealt with by other reviewers. But please, for your own sake, DON'T be turned off by the subtitles or the rather slow start. It DOES get better. In this case, patience is a humongous virtue...
Rating: Summary: Clearly the best Review: I say "Life is Beautiful" in seminars and classes (during introduction) when asked what is my favorite movie. This is without any doubt the best movie I have seen. I saw this movie 18 months ago when my daughter was just born. It influenced the kind of parent I became. I believe I would have been a different kind of father if I hadn't seen this movie. Roberto Beningni is probably the only film maker who can make you laugh with tears in your eyes. He has portrayed the atrocities of the Holocaust very well without a single violent scene. A must see !!
Rating: Summary: A great movie Review: When I first heard of the movie, I didn't think that it would be that great. However, I was wrong. This takes the idea of a Holocaust movie and makes it much more personal than any other movie I've seen. The movie makes the prisioners seem like real people and not just "Random Jew" like in other movies. The one complaint is the Benigni is not "labeled" Jewish until half way through the movie. A must see for any student.
