Summary: This is a film that cheapens world events.
Review: Leave it to Hollywood to cheapen every major event that takes place in the world. Wilson's wooden acting combined with a stoic performance by Hackman and you have this "very fictional" story of a downed US airman in Bosnia who must escape with air footage of mass graves that he took while over a so called de-militarized zone. The screenplay is non-existent (like the Die Hard Films) and the music score is so bad, that this movie makes "Top Gun" look like film art by comparison.

Summary: This will put you on the edge of your seat!
Review: After spending several months at sea, the Navy is preparing to return home. Flight
navigator Lt. Burnett (Own Wilson) and pilot Stackhouse (Gabriel Macht) are on their
last reconnaissance mission in their F-A18 Super Hornet fighter jet. It's Christmas day,
and the airmen are taking photographs over the Bosnia region when they pick up an
unidentified signal on their radar. They decide to venture off into the "no fly zone"
without knowing that all hell would soon break loose.

Sit down Top Gun. All I can say about Behind Enemy Lines is WOW! My jaw was on
the floor during the opening scene and the first thirty minutes. The special affects blew me
away watching the fighter jet try to avoid the heat seeking Surface to Air Missiles. Behind
Enemy Lines is pure fun and entertainment.

A well known cast including Gene Hackman fill the roles of Navy officers who find
themselves battling the enemy and higher command. Hackman, who plays a hard headed
Admiral is trying to bring home the pilots who were shot down on their mission. I have to
say that Owen probably wasn't the best pick for the lead role. His history of comedies
made him even less convincing, but mediocre acting didn't take away from intensity of the
movie, however it was probably bad enough to be scorned by the critics and ultimately not
make it as one of the best films this year. Regardless, I can't wait to add this to movie to
my collection.

Director John Moore is a wicked man who uses several unique approaches to Behind
Enemy Lines. Every gruesome scene reappears again somewhere in the form of a
flashback. There are several panning shots, and he even freezes the frame entirely at the
most climatic part of a particular scene. His aggressive approach may irritate some, but I
enthusiastically enjoyed it. It coincided with the dramatic aspects, and added to the
seriousness to Owen's role. Several closeups of actors and weapons bring you close to the
action.

Despite all the action and suspense, Behind Enemy Lines is not ruined by a usually ignored
plot. While often you'll think to yourself that one person could never survive some of the
things these characters went through, but for the most part Enemy Lines is believable.

The music was loud, especially the suspense trumpet noises that happen in every scene do
exaggerate the movie, while a pumped up soundtrack keeps the pace quick at the same
time.

You'll enjoy Behind Enemy Lines. The fighting scenes are graphic and provides the
audience with an overall good time. It's better than Spy Games, and probably the best
movie this year so far in respect to the action genre.

Summary: cool
Review: This movie is awesome! Nice storyline, nice script, and everything else but............
The filming is a little "low-budget" It looks kind of like the way the beginning of Jeepers Creepers is like. Old looking, and the way they filmed it at some parts, you can't really see what's going on...anyways, overall I give this 4 stars 'cuz of the annoying way they filmed it!

Summary: Very Good Film
Review: BEHIND ENEMY LINES suffers from one thing: cliche. However, if you can get past that, BEHIND is an incredibly well done film.

The standout in this movie is definitely John Moore's brilliant direction. From his beautifully intense fighter jet sequence to the incredible action direction, he is a master of his camera. The slow motion shots are beautiful and whatever computer effects used were not overdone. Despite the constant swirling and shaky camera, Moore has a great grasp on what type of film this is supposed to be. It's intense, and mostly the kind of intense that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Owen Wilson has proven himself to be a terrific comedian in movies like MEET THE PARENTS and ZOOLANDER, and even though he is given some funny lines, he does a fine job playing the bored soldier completely thrust out of his comfort zone. He has the right look that pulls it off, and it's almost incredible to see his evolution as a character on the screen.

Gene Hackman proves once again that he is incapable of turning in a bad performance. His grit and determination in the role keeps whatever hokey lines and cliched scenes working. Honeslty one of the best performances of his career, besides HEIST and THE FRENCH CONNECTION, of course.

Like I said before, the story is extremely cliched. You can pretty much predict what is going to happen, but at least the script has enough sense to make it very hard to get to what you're sure is going to happen. It's rife with great lines and snappy dialog and just happened to be perfectly cast that everything works.

Overall, this is a highly enjoyable film that will keep your attention throughout. It's got some great locations and camera work, and that can almost mean everything in this type of film. I'm definitely going to get this one the day it comes out on DVD.

Summary: No disappointment here
Review: I was not disappointed in this movie. Even knowing the outcome, since it was based on fact, I found myself on the edge of my seat many times. I did not expect Owen Wilson to pull this performance off but he does -- wonderfully. I admit there were times when the action was "choppy" as if a scene were cut but it is still a great movie that further enforces that American Spirit.

Summary: Excellent Movie!
Review: I would highly recommend "Behind Enemy Lines". Owen Wilson did an excellent job in this movie by adding more depth, feeling, and personality to his character than that usually seen in a military-type movie. His comical timing was excellent throughout the film. The visual effects, action sequences, and cinematography were astounding. During the pilot ejection scene, they captured more of the actual mechanical ejection sequence than I have ever seen in a film. This movie not only provides a unique visual experience and story line, but also captures many of the emotional aspects of war situations including the high levels of frustration, fear, and despair that are experienced.

Summary: Avoid this movie!
Review: I felt cheated of my time and money. From the very weak opening dialogue to the uninspired ending sequence, the movie was chock full of cliches and poor cinematography. Very little character development on the two main characters played by Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson. Speaking of Gene Hackman, he was attempting to replay a similar role he did in 'Crimson Tide' but failed miserably. I think it was ultimately the director, scriptwriter and editor's fault for potraying Hackman in such a manner that I no longer will go see his movie without checking out the reviews. Plot was full of holes the size of Texas and story itself was not very original.

Summary: Enjoyable but predictable
Review: An American soldier gets shot down and is stuck "behind enemy lines"...guess what happens? That depends on how many times the lead character has seen the Rambo movies. Seriously though, it's a nice little film that delivers what you expect but not much more. Gene Hackman seems to have played this role before one too many times but he's good anyway. The music and the photography are both great. The only real problem with this movie is it doesn't take any chances. The Hollywood cookie cutter holds it back from being anything special. This will probably do well because of the timing. A lot of Americans want to see us defeating an enemy, even if it's pure fiction. There's something satisfying about watching terrorists getting blown away! And although it's certainly no "Saving Private Ryan", it's sure better than generic drivel like "Top Gun". Women Beware: This is a GUY flick in case you didn't see the previews.
