Summary: Excellent
Review: It is truly amazing that America has such fine men to defend our peoples and our way of life. When you ask those troops why they do it, they will not answer you. But they do it for each other and for the code.

The biggest tragedy is that Clinton was not impeached for serious constitutional violations. Placing American military under foreign control is strickly forbidden by the US Constitution. The actors acurately portrayed the fine soldiers, especially the two Delta teammates that dropped in to protect the second downed chopper, even though they believed the crew to be dead and knowing that they would NOT be returning home. What fine soldiers, what fine men!

Semper Fi!

Summary: Brutally Real
Review: Ridley Scott did a magnificent job of conveying the horror and urgency of the disastrous U.S. military mission in Somalia in 1993 in which 18 Americans were killed and 70 wounded during 16 hours of street fighting. What was supposed to be a 45-minute mission went horribly wrong when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by Somali rockets and American ground troops were left to fend for themselves in the streets of Mogadishu.

Everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong: poor communications; unexpected numbers of the enemy; roadblocks; lack of food, water, and medical supplies.

The scope of this movie was huge and it was more a gritty and brutal documentary than a war movie. Scene by scene, hour by hour, the catastrophe was revealed to viewers. I was so glad I was watching it on DVD where I could take an occasional break from the intensity of this film. It did not glorify and romanticize war but rather gave us a view that is rarely seen and that brought the audience right into the heart of battle.

"Black Hawk Down" is a story of incredible courage in the face of overwhelming odds. These comparatively few heroic American troops fought so mightily and so bravely---what they overcame and endured is suitably memorialized by this film.

Summary: Action thrills
Review: The fact that this story is true is gut wrenching. The action is unbeatable, the emotion is feeling. You really get into this movie. Especially in wake of 9/11 you can't help but cheer and applaude. But you need a strong stomach to deal with the content. Very real.

Summary: Realistic and Technically Very Accurate
Review: Being a former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, I took more than a casual interest in this film. Having said that, I'd never seen combat. Neither did most of Task Force Ranger, until October 3rd, 1993. As far as I'm concerned, this was an amazing film in its effort to portray the ruthless and brutal nature of men in combat. It ain't pretty in the movie and I'm sure it wasn't pretty for the 3/75 Rangers and Delta Force operators who fought in it.

I think the palpable fear, the scared ...emotions of kill or be killed, came through so well in the movie. Many people have said this movie was very depressing. In a lot of ways, they were right. 19 KIA, 72 WIA from a force of barely more than 100 soldiers. But, what I also take from this movie is the guts and pride of the Delta operators, two of whom were awarded the Medal Of Honor posthumously, for saving a Black Hawk pilot from certain death after his bird was shot down by an RPG. Maybe some of the Rangers, though very well trained, we somewhat naive about wanting to see combat. Maybe they weren't. Either way, what I take from this is that I'm proud as hell to have worn the same jump wings on my chest as the soldiers from Task Force Ranger who fought in Somalia. They were thrown into a city of one million armed idiots stoned on "gancha". One hundred were pinned down and took an unimaginable volume of gun and rocket fire. The fact that any of them survived is a tribute to how well trained they are. I don't think the average person understands how good Delta Force operators are. These guys (along with the Navy SEALS) are the finest warriors in the world, bar none. And not far behind them are the Army Rangers. My hat goes off to all of them. Black Hawk Down showed the will of men to fight, survive, and rescue their brothers in arms. Somalia was a mistake politically because we had Clinton ...for President. But Black Hawk Down also proved something I've known since I served in the 82nd: The United States of America is the greatest country on earth and we have the finest, most dedicated soldiers. The reason we do is because we have more to fight for than anyone else and everyone else knows it.

Thanks to all my fellow veterans and especially the ones who went into combat with knees shaking and heart's pounding....BUT STILL WENT... and made us all proud. I have more respect for an 18 year old Army Ranger than I do for ex-President Clinton. Clinton stands for nothing. At least the Ranger who goes off into combat is willing to stand up and fight. Bill Clinton had that chance during Vietnam, but he flat chickened out. I put these soldiers above all the CEO's, Politicians, etc. because without them, we have nothing.

Black Hawk Down showed that more than anything. Ho-ah!

Review: War films don't come better than this, with Black Hawk Down delivering awesome battle scenes and authenticism.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I love this movie, but you have to understand that this was a true story ...putting the troops there in the first place [was stupid]. But, this movie is great, lots of action, and it is sort-of intense. I would recommend this movie for adults because of the content, and because they would actually understand it. So rent it or buy it, and either way you will love this movie.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: When I first read the book I was baffled at the fact that these elite troops were almost brought to their knees by the lack of communication, bad luck and frustration. I was hoping there would be a film and to my pleasure there was. One thing one must remember is that the troops involved in this battle were following orders and in my mind oustanding soldiers

The action scenes are well done and the amount of shooting and chaos is really quite gripping. The number of well known actors is also a comforting sight for the eyes. The resume however can be written in a few lines: The crack troops from the US Army go in to secure and capture a well known warlord, everything goes to plan until a helicopter gets shot down. After a long battle the troops emerge victorious despite the sheer overwhelming number of militia.

Not much of a scenario but let's face it, that is what really happened. The end of the film is quite abrupt and I would have liked to have known why the plan crumbled to that extent and the lessons drawn from such an operation but I suppose that is "Classified". The music and the setting is well matched to Somalia. I enjoyed the film but being someone who likes most war films and a fair amount of action, it would seem normal. I would at least recommend watching this film and for any hardcore fans then a buy is a must!

Summary: I wonder
Review: if my memory does not betray me, there were foreign forces involved in helping the US soldiers. Yet somehow ridley scott did not potray this aspect in this film. of course hollywood will always potray the half truth to the American audience, so that in the end any US military involvement in foreign land will not be questioned by the tax payers.

Summary: A Lie Spawned By Warmongers
Review: This movie is "based on fact", but turns out to be the biggest lie to come out of Hollywood in a long time. The truth is that US helicopters went in and murdered 100s of innocent folks and in retaliation the innocent folk fought back.

Summary: Pushing the tin of Hollywood
Review: If youve read any of my other reviews here... you know i start out with ive seen alot of movies and yada yada. i really enjoied this film though. if you dont know its about a mission go astray (coming from the clinton administration go figure) in somalia in 1993. the action in this movie is great and the sound is spectacular to say the least. the fighting scenes and the gags are very well done. the only critisism i have is that with all the characters in camo and many dying the plot to character part of the movie is lost and that some of the scenes probably shouldnt have been put in movies because of the gore. dont get me wrong im a blood and guts down to bone with the rest of you but it isnt so much the gore but the graphicness of it when you see hundreds of somalians (skinnies as theyre referred to in the film) raid a down chopper and ravage a dead soldier and hold his body up high like hed kicked the winning field goal in the super bowl rather than killed several militia. people that are get weak around blood or the inmature mind should keep away from this film but for the rest enjoi it. 4 stars.
