Summary: Black Hawk Down
Review: This was an awesome movie. Definetly watch it. If you liked Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, any war movies you would like this. Ridley Scott did an excellent job. Read the Book it is by Mark Bowden. An A+ movie.

Summary: Great movie, but alot missing
Review: If you've read the book and viewed interviews with the real soldiers involved in this Somalia incident, you'll know that the movie, well very well made, is disappointingly incomplete. There's not enough of a lead-in to let the viewer know the "Why" of the mission. Furthermore, I feel more follow-up of what happened politically as a result would have completed the movie more fully. Also, a "where are they now" regarding the soldiers involved would have been interesting and well-received. As it is, I felt the movie's ending was too abrupt.

Barring those true-life issues, the special effects were spectacularly realistic, and the events depicted were quite accurate, (if incomplete) according to some Army buddies of our's who were actually over there at the time.

Definately worth purchasing!

Summary: the rewriting of history
Review: Of course we are all used to the fact that hollywood takes it liberties with the truth. However, this film is so much a rewriting of history it made me sick. I would have left the theatre had I not been stuck in the middle of a row. The film portrays the american troops as doing all they can to try and save the day, when in reality it was the american decision to hunt Aideed that signalled the end of earlier effective humanitarian intervention. The americans did not save the day, they created the mess. added to this the ill judget attempt at humour during the film (the lost soldiers, har har har) the story is [poor]. Sound, editing and special effects are brilliant though, and if that is what you go for, plus a lot of violence and blood (way over the top) this is for you.

Summary: Excelent
Review: Apocalypse now - helicopter attack (minus Wagner music) plus Saving private Ryan - first half hour equals Black Hawk Down.
This movie, based on a true story, is war roller-coaster and one of the best.

Summary: Roger That Super 61
Review: Okay first off, the movie is fantastic. I absolutely loved this movie, but however was somewhat dissapointed. Ever since hearing about the book "Black Hawk Down" a few years ago I read everything I could about the incident. So going in to see the movie I was really looking forward to how they would portray it.

Ridley Scott did a wonderful job with the combat scenes, especially the mix of sound and visuals of the black hawks and little birds flying to the LZ. The anticipation and tension is built up perfectly at this point. Overall the movie was great, and the score by Hans Zimmer really added to the emotional effect of the film.

What was wrong with this movie? Some of the scenes of course were "re worked" for dramatic effect. The way the two delta snipers were killed is not exactly how it happend in real life. They touched on how the soldiers were unprepared, but I felt they should devote more time to it. YOu couldn't really tell who was who at times. The only person I always picked out was Ewan McGregor and Josh Hartnett, the other soldiers could have been extras. But isn't that how war is? You just don't know, and everything is not clear.

The timing of this movie is a bit ironic. Every person I know who saw the movie walked out of it saying how much they wanted to Kill every Somalian they knew, so from a propoganda view point the movie succedded. However, this was a true event (Granted the politics of EXACTLY why US troopers were there was left out, ,because after all this was for entertainment purposes, not a documentary). Also to some viewers who complain their weren't enough black or hispanics or asians fighting with the U.S soldiers, umm theres a reason, there weren't many on Task Force Ranger. These are the same people who complain that Saving Private Ryan didn't have any blacks in it. Well from my recollection of HIstory, the military was still segregated in world war 2 so there wouldnt be blacks in the particular group shown in the movie.

I will say one thing about this movie though. A buddy of mine has always refused to fight for his country. He was completely anti-war and would completely dodge the draft if it ever came down to that. Now, I am not the most pro-american in this country, but I realize what we have, and im proud to be an american, but I would fight for my country. After seeing this movie my buddy finally changed his mind, so I am happy to see he has seen the light.

So in conclusion, see this movie. If not for the visuals, for the emotions, for the amazing action sequences, see it for the men who died. Soldiers do not get to choose what to do, they are given orders and they follow them, or face prison time, it's that simple. So for the 18 men who lost their lives over nothing, HooWa.

Summary: Racist Movie
Review: This movie is about going into a country that has nothing to do with us and killing lots of people in the process.

Every single person that saw this movie said that it reaked of racism and hatred...This movie was released to try to weigh people's opinion about the us going into Somalia and killing somemore innocent people.

Well guess what...It didn't work and many people saw it for what it was.

Let's not forget that we bombed the only medicine factory in Somalia and now lots of people are dying because of it.

Save your money and get something that's not full of hatred and racism against non-white people!!!

Summary: excellent realism
Review: this amazing movie not only is very enjoyable to watch, it also manages to hang on to the reality reality presented in the book by the same name (i recommend this as well). also reading the book in addition allows you to get more out of the movie, such as a better understanding of the background and about the military units involved. buy this!

Summary: Great movie, but please explain the price !!
Review: This is a great war movie. Hard-hitting and fast-moving, it concentrates on the impact of hard-core, realistic combat scenes rather than on the 'arty' values of war-movies. The action is almost non-stop. After watching this movie on screen I made up my mind to purchase this video and add it to my collection.

Summary: Worst Movie Made
Review: This Movie is terrible...I paid good money to see it in the theater..and I'm telling you people who read this dont waste your money buying this crap...it not even worth your time. It shows how bad the US Army screws up and it shows how our tax money is spent on stupid fighting in a country we have no business being in. Please dont waste your money on this.
