Summary: Moving and inspirational
Review: I was mesmerized during the whole series, and eagerly awaited the next installments over the weeks that it aired. The way the series was filmed, the interviews with the surviving members of EasyCompany and the overall compassion and feeling of patriotism this series inspired was awesome. Definitely a series that should be seen by all!

Summary: Excellent portrayal of the effects of war
Review: I, too, have read Stephen Ambrose's book, and feel that the HBO series captured all of the grit, despair and inspiration in Ambrose's Band of Brothers. Consisting (except for Capt. Sobel and Lt. Nixon) of largely unknown actors, each actor had clearly worked hard to capture the essential character of the "real" soldier he portrayed--in some instances spending time with the real Easy Company veteran, in other cases not meeting the soldier until afterwards. A particular standout is Damian Lewis as Major Richard Winters. Although British, he had a convincing Pennsylvania accent and seems to embody Winter's understated style. A moving, unnerving portrayal of the "fog of combat."

Summary: From someone who knows
Review: I have a close friend that is an airborne ranger and he is very involved in his work. He loves military movies but prefers the ones that have an actual reflection of acurracy and not just a bunch of guns and explosions. I wanted to get this DVD for him for Christmas because he has said some great things about it... he really likes the way it is done and commented that the directors certainly did their research... I enjoyed it as well and felt satisfied after each episode. not just desensitized as if i had spent an hour watching cartoon characters blow each other up ( no offense to cartoons of course:) If an airborne ranger can say such great things about a movie made after his kind....this needs to be released!

Summary: Band of Brothers
Review: What can I say about this programme that hasn't already been said? Well not a lot really. It was just brilliant. This programme just has to come out on DVD or Video, either way I would buy it.

Please pass on all the requests to HBO and the BBC to encourage them to bring this programme out on either format, for general release, and insist that they do not 'cut it down too fit', it has to be released in its full glory.

Summary: OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION, SIMPLY THE BEST!
Review: Seldom a production so eagerly anticipated lives up to expectations, this one certainly did!
From the incredible action scenes in Normandy and Holland to the harrowing experiences in Bastogne, the TV series was just outstanding.
The accuracy of uniforms and equipment used can only be truly appreciated by those who know what the uniforms, vehicles and equipment actually looked like! You know many of these vehicles no longer exist so the attention to detail in recreating the right "feel" makes the series a masterpiece. You see Stugs, Jadgpanzers,Cromwells, German APC's.
The series takes you through the whole range of emotions. Intense battle scenes and quiet emotional moments like the scenes in the concentration camp, and my favorite, the quiet time inside a church after the fierce attack on Foy.
I had NEVER looked forward to Sunday night as much as for the 10 weeks of BOB!
I hope this series is released in DVD and that the documentary shown after the series is included with as much extra footage as possible.
The Soundtrack is also OUTSTANDING.
I would recommend reading the book by Ambrose as you go along watching the series.
This is without a doubt my favorite TV event EVER.
Congratulations to all those involved in its production.
And thanks to the men of Easy Co. 605 PIR for telling us their story.

Summary: Worth paying the license fee for
Review: I am a huge Spielberg fan but this surpasses even his works of Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List.

Without a doubt this is the best cinema/tv I have seen. Fortunately watching it in the UK it was available free of charge to everyone on BBC2 Friday nights, repeated on BBC1 wednesday nights.

I found myself staying in on friday nights and watching many of the repeats on the following wednesday.

Would love to see a similar series of WWII from the Russian perspective made by the same people who brought us this but sadly don't think it would get an american audience to make it viable.

This series was however in a class of its own - cannot see how anyone will ever make a better film/tv than this! I want the DVD and for more TV series to be of this standard. I am off to Normandy and the Ardeche to pay my respects

Summary: Great - but the last episode (...)!
Review: I suppose that is the problem with trying to depict a true story.
Everything has to end sometime.
