Summary: I expected more...
Review: Heard all the great reviews on the movie. So I figured if it is that great I won't rent it I'll want to own it, so I bought it. The 5.1 Digital surround is great if you have the sound system. The bullets actually richochet around the room. The plot was boring, you knew how it would end 30 minutes into the film. This is one of those movies that you can wait till its on HBO.

Summary: I don't know what to say?
Review: It is not every day a movie such as Three Kings comes along. This great film combines so many emotions, and it works wonderfully. The acting is suberb. George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg are terrific together. Ice Cube surprisingly turned in a spectacular performance. It's great how they introduce these characters, Archie most of all. The camera angles and music work great together. I loved the responsible use of slow motion and violence. It is nice to know what happens when a person is shot. Like most of you out there, I am very ticked that this film did not a thing on Oscar night.

Summary: Comedy With a Conscience!
Review: "Three Kings" is set at the end of the Gulf War. Some GI's played by Ice Cube, Mark Wahlberg, and Spike Jonze find a map on a POW detailing where Saddam Hussein has stashed some gold bullion belonging to Kuwait. George Clooney, who plays an officer about to retire, leads the group in an expedition to find the gold (hint: they aren't planning to give it back to Kuwait).

They find the gold but then find that the Iraqui civilians who our government told to "rise up agaisnt Saddam" are being slaughtered by the Republican Guards. Therein lies the dilemna faced by Clooney, Wahlberg, Cube, and Jonze.

The cinematography in this motion picture is excellent, and each of the cast members turns in a splendid performance. Every trick in the bag is used to drive home certain plot points, to include sequential frame advance, slow-mo, and a very interesting little bit that shows what a bullet does to one's internal organs. The writing and dialogue, especially between Ice-T and Jones or Ice-T and Wahlberg, is very good and sort of Quentin Tarantinoesque in a charming way.

Clearly, this is one of the most energetic and ambitious works of the last few years in terms of technique. I assume that it was done to make to story stand out, but it does so quite well on its own merits. This film does have considerable violence, but if you can handle that sort of thing then I highly recommend "Three Kings".

Summary: A Great Movie...
Review: I don't like movies with a lot of violence, especially ones with gratuitous violence...and you get that a lot with war movies. This movie had only two overly violent parts (in my opinion)and the rest needed to be there as part of the story. The cinematography was incredible! The characters were well acted and many of the scenes were funny at the same time they were violent and moving. The movie as a whole was fabulous, and the cell phone scene was hilarious!

Summary: Incredibly Well Done -- A Must-Buy/Must-See
Review: When I first saw the previews for Three Kings, I knew it would be good. When it opened and I saw it, my eyes were glued during the whole flick...I found the effects to be incredible, and the directing and acting to be supurb. The selection of the actors was genius and the story was emotionally brutal. One minute you were laughing, the next you were wide-eyed at the action sequences and then a minute after that, you were hoping nobody saw that tear in your eye. I recommend this movie to everyone. It is not only a movie that fits into your personal collection, it has certain moral values to it as well.

Summary: This movie took a turn for the worst.
Review: The movie starts out kind of strangely and then goes on a rollercoaster ride that I didnt particularly enjoy. For starters I didnt really want to see George Clooney in the first 10 minutes of the movie having sex with some reporter. Now I will be emotionally scarred for life. Secondly its alot of fun! Going through an ultra realistic depiction of the Gulf War... Until... Things start to get serious.

Suddenly the movie switches gears and the team wants to go out on a mission from god to save people being threatended by Saddam Hussein. Members on the team are killed and one gets captured and tortured. I didnt pay my money at the theater for a drama, but thats what this turns into halfway through. Lots of crying and deep religious and spiritual issues are faced which I dont really care for since I have enough drama and religious issues I face in real life. If this movie had kept on its free quest full of adventure, humor, danger and excitement I wouldve loved this.

Summary: It is soooo good!
Review: I think it was an awesome war movie despite what some would say 'cos in normal war movies it starts to get boring and it's just blood, screaming, more blood more screaming and look a hot actor, but there goes his head! But in this it gives you a variety when was the last time you heard a war movie being called a comedy? It's funny, dramatic, suspensful, action packed and still very historic. I mean sure your gonna have some blood and screaming but thats not what the movie is based on like most war movies.

Summary: Great movie, awesome DVD value
Review: This movie is equal parts drama, comedy, and action--- and it balances all those genres superbly. The acting is uniformly excellent, particularly Mark Wahlberg. I was engrossed throughout the film, and very moved by the end. As for the DVD, there are many special features to keep you busy for quite awhile-- I especially enjoyed the "Intimate look at Acting with Ice Cube," directed by Spike Jonze (who provides much of the humor in the film as Conrad Vig).

Summary: Unnecessary bad language and violence
Review: The opening 30 minutes has unnecessary bad language, gratuitious violence that does not contribute to the story. Dim view of military personnel behavior. The bad language continues throughout the film but after the first 30 or so minutes, the story line kicks in and it gets more watchable - still B grade stuff though. I'm putting the disk on the auction block.

Summary: Rent, don't buy!
Review: I thought the movie would be a lot like the trailer I saw. Boy, was I disappointed! The first ten minutes are really lively and you get the sense that you might be watching "Ferris Bueller's Day Off in Iraq"; by the time you realize you're bogged down in a philosophical diatribe about assisting Iraqi rebels...it's too late. Not the satire I thought it would be.
