Summary: Worthwhile sequel for Stallone fans
Review: Rambo III is a good sequel that doesn't match the success of the two movies that came before it. Troubled Vietnam vet John Rambo is working at a monastery in Thailand when Colonel Trautman shows up to ask him if he wants to go along on a mission. Rambo turns him down, but when he finds out Trautman has been captured by Soviets in Afghanistan, he goes after him to try and rescue him. The plot is predictable, but it is still an entertaining movie. There is plenty of great action throughout as Rambo battles the Soviets alongside the Afghan rebels. If you liked the first two movies in the series, you'll probably like Rambo III. Sylvester Stallone is good as Vietnam veteran, John Rambo. He has little to say the whole movie instead just staring at someone or firing a gun. Either way, his performance is basically the same as the others. Richard Crenna returns again as Colonel Samuel Trautman who Rambo must attempt to save from the evil Soviets. The two of them are very good together in the scenes they have. Marc de Jonge sneers his way through the role as Colonel Zaysen, the leader of the Soviet forces. The Special Edition DVD offers commentaries, a documentary about Afghanistan, production notes, and widescreen presentation. For an enjoyable action romp with plenty of explosions, check out Rambo III!

Summary: We Never See These Kinds Anymore
Review: Rambo III is the prime example of the perfect action movie. Instead of the countless James Bond's where sex is the only thing on his mind, or the terrible John Woo action we see in laughable movies like Face/Off and Mission: Impossible 2. Rambo's are far more concentrated, it takes all of its action (And superb action it is) and focuses it right where it wants it so this movie does not become an over-blown piece of trash action movie like The Rock. Stallone is perfect in the Rambo role and displays awesome physical action to where we believe he is a one man war-machine, the story plays itself out well, ditching its Vietnam protest in the first two and giving something new with plenty of explosions and action to satisfy any movie buff. Its amazing to see a movie that is deemed by so many clowns here as an idiot-action movie become so much more. Rambo III is fantastic.

Summary: Couldn't leave it well enough alone...
Review: Remember John Rambo? Last time we saw him, he was walking off to find himself in the Far East, turning his back on his commanding officer Trautman. Years later, Trautman finds him doing some handyman work at a Buddhist temple. The Colonel asks John to help him on a final mission to rescue some Afghani's held by the mean old Soviets. Rambo turns it down but when Trautman himself is captured during the attempt, John tells the monks he's gotta go. He teams with an Afghani tribe to free his friend and help the helpless. Sylvester Stallone returns to the monosyllabic role of Rambo. Although he is physically up to the challenge, his acting shows exhaustion with the material. The same can be said for Richard Crenna's turn as Colonel Trautman. Amongst the many problems with this story is extremely ridiculous dialogue served in a shoddy script interpreted by an also-ran director, Peter MacDonald. His biggest crime? He has made a pretty boring action film. And audiences stayed away in droves making this one of the biggest flops in history. But, if the rumor mill is correct, we'll be seeing Rambo again. This Special Edition DVD has an amazing audio transfer. The DTS can challenge even the best sound systems! Also, the widescreen video transfer is crisp and beautiful, capturing the "Afghani Mountains" setting (Filmed in Israel) and enough firepower to fill a Rambo flick. There is a timely new documentary looking at the Afghani conflict as well as a running commentary by Director MacDonald. This DVD was also made available in the Rambo Trilogy box set.

Summary: Great for it's time period
Review: The Rambo Trilogy is one that has been a favorite of mine ever since I was small. My mother is a devout Stallone fan, so I got to see many of his atrocious movies. However, the Rambo series stands out in my mind as some of his best--the third being my personal favorite. For the time period it was the ultimate action movie--a story that was meaningful at the time, nice sequences that display some rather nice visuals(the scene where he burns out the wound in his side was rather impressive). If you are looking for a good action movie that will satisfy a boring Saturday night, then this is the one for you.

Review: THE Rambo trilogy is the trilogy that spawned many rip-offs(Missing in Action,Thunder Warrior,etc)I can't say which one is the best since I think they are all great no trilogy is complete without this one.

Summary: They'll Be Pulling This Title Out of Their Dustbins
Review: They should have stopped the Rambo series after the first movie. The movies get worse with each subsequent release. The most ridiculous scene was when Rambo and Trautman decided to take on the entire Soviet Army by themselves. What hogwash! Apparently, only Americans can shoot straight, while the Soviets could never get in a good shot.

Summary: Rambo joins the Taliban?
Review: This came on the TV the other night. (TNT)I had not seen it before so I watched. Sylvester Stallion is still quiet handsome! But the movie was sickening and disgusting especially after 9/11, I'm simply amazed they still show it. It is in such bad taste! It is bad enough Rambo joins the mujjahadeen ("holy warriors") who gave us the Taliban and Al-Quaida and 9/11. And the Russian soldiers are very badly represented. First of all, Russia did not "invade" Afghanistan, but were asked to help by the Afghan goverment against the mujjahadeen rebels. The Russians in the movie all look like gigantic pro-wrestlers or something! Do you want to see how the Russian soldiers really looked? Get the book called "Afghanistan, Soviet Vietnam" by Vladimir Tamarov. You will see, they were eighteen or nineteen years old skinny boys who looked sixteen. The mujjahadeen were the same vicious Islamist extremists fighting our American guys in Iraq and Afganistan today, so thanks for nothing, Rambo. I'm still amazed this movie still plays on the TV. TNT is clueless.

Review: This is just a movie, a reminder for those of you who take rambo and speak of rambo as a real life person, this movie based on previous two, which were really successfull in us and europe, so
if hollywood can cash in on it, you got rambo 3. this movie is not to be taking seriously, i say hot shots part deux is more serious then this movie, this movie gives what it meant to give one man violent entertainment.
this movie is for that special night with your girlfriend, cheap fun, unless you thing your girlfriend will want man like rambo, instead of you, then get something else, but just remember movie is a movie, how many men were fooled by it and became soldiers to look like rambo and impress females, then realizing, too late, that in real life it is totally different, and no amount of training will protect anyone from unexpected bullet, don't be fools, real war is much, much worst and not a cheap hollywood entertainment you could turn off when you tired of violence...
