Summary: Buyer beware: lousy picture quality!
Review: Anyone who is reading these reviews will have seen the TV production and know it inside out; therefore I will limit my review to the DVD picture quality--or rather, the lack of it.

It's a shame that what used to be a beautiful and memorable TV film has become a battered, faded-out shadow of its former self. It is painful to see something that holds a special place in your heart be treated so shabbily. For years the only version that millions had seen on TV had such faded color and low contrast that it practically looked like it was shot in black and white! If that is what you are used to, the
"restored" version on this DVD (and the one shown on TV the last 3 or 4 years) does look marginally better, but it is hardly restored. One only has to look at a deleted song in the extras section to see how beautiful and glowing the original production was: sharp, clear, pristine, with highly saturated colors. The time and money SHOULD have been spent to bring the rest of the film up to this standard. It is morally wrong to put a defective product on the marketplace, then have the nerve to charge money for it. As many of our parents probably told us when we were youngsters, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right!"

Summary: DVD has poor VHS quality
Review: You would think they would have cleaned up the video before releasing it on DVD. Unfortunately though, all the original lines, dirt and lint are flying throughout the show. And no color correction either. Too bad. Otherwise I would've given the video 5 stars. It's a classic, but the DVD looks like a poor transfer VHS.

Summary: True to the Song
Review: Burl Ives, as Sam the Snowman, narrates this story of the lovable, yet North Pole outcast, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Who has ever heard of a red-nosed reindeer, you say? No one, until now. Rudolph is the only reindeer with such a nose, which is a problem, considering he can't join in any of the reindeer games, and is shunned by everyone in Christmastown. But when he meets Hermey, and outcast elf, and Yukon Cornelius, they escape from Christmastown, and the ridicule, and, while trying to avoid the Bumble (the Abominable Snow Monster), the three friends come across the Island of Misfit Toys, where they meet many toys who are looking for a person to love them. But one year, when Christmas has been officially cancelled, and Santa Claus can't find a way to guide his sleigh through the blizzard, Rudolph returns to Christmastown, where Santa Claus calls upon him to guide his sleigh, and where he becomes a world-renown hero.

For everyone who has sung the song, the official story, and movie, is here. Fans young and old will relish in the exact similarities between the song and the movie; and the sweet relationship that Rudolph develops with his friends Hermey the Elf, Yukon Corenlius, and even the Bumble. Not to mention the little romance he develops with a beautiful little doe. This movie isn't all fun and games. It also holds a message: being different makes you special. A perfect movie for everyone this holiday season. Don't miss this one.

Summary: A Christmas Classic for the whole family!
Review: It simply doesnt get any better than this, when it comes to Christmas Dvd's. "Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer" is the classic story of how a Reindeer (Rudolph) goes from thinking that he is insignificant, to realizing that the very thing that made him feel like such a misfit (His red nose) actually makes him the special being that he is!
This charming show will remind us all that each and every one of us has a purpose and that all of God's creations great and small deserve love, kindness and a moment to shine, like Rudolph and his wonderful nose.
Enjoy and have a Beautiful CHRISTmas!

Summary: Great Christmas Movie.
Review: Burl Ives is fantastic in this film. I love the song Silver And Gold by Burl Ives. I got the soundtrack on CD. I love the song about being Misfits. This is a very sweet and hart warming Christmas show. I feel sorry for poor Rudolph because he can't join in on the games, because of his red nose.

Summary: rudolf rassendyl, uh just kidding!
Review: Rudolph is a cute movie.Theres a lot more to it than the song!
watch out for the Bominables in this one. And Santa is a little skinny at the beginning! But happy fun all the way. Good for kids who feel left out or different.Good characters, like Hermie the elf dentist, Clarice, Rudolf's doe, and of course,
Yukon Cornelius, the prospector!(Not at all like the Toy Story
2 one.)Nice family movie.

Summary: This is Worst X-mas Special I have seen
Review: The soundtrack is bad, it sounds like a music box with almost(dead) batteries. The message is bad. They say X-Mas is gonna be cancled. HOW CAN WE CANCEL X-MAS? THAT IS LIKE SAYING X-MAS IS ALL ABOUT PRESENTS? X-MAS IS NOT ABOUT PRESENTS, IT MEANS MUCH, MUCH MORE. Also the amount of songs on it is truly annoying combined with the extremely bad soundtrack. Also it is very bad in another way, too. "We need to get the women back to christimas-town." So women are helpless. NO THEY ARE NOT. Women and Men are 100% equal. They treat rudloph badly because of his nose. Should we treat people badly because they are different? I DO NOT THINK SO. DO NOT BUY THIS HORRIBLE MOVIE!!! SPEND IT ON ANOTHER X-MAS SPECIAL LIKE "A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS" OR THE GRINCH.
