Summary: Point me in the direction of this DVD!
Review: (I know, lousy pun...humour me please) I just watched this movie yesterday for the first time in, oh, say 10 years, and I *still* remember the words to the songs. I loved this movie as a kid, and to see it again and actually pick up on some of the more subtle humour, and the entire metaphor of the movie (which as a kid I didn't pick up on; I just liked the pictures and the music) was really refreshing. I recently discovered that we actually have the soundtrack on vinyl.... as soon as remember how to use the turntable I'll be playing this non-stop! :o) Great movie, no matter how old you are.

Summary: The Best
Review: I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 10. My sister and I got the album and knew every song backwards and forwards. Every now and then I start singing "Me and My Arrow" and it brings back great memories. This is a great story. I loved it then and I know I will love it now. I want to get it now for my 6 year old.

Summary: We need the Point!
Review: I saw this movie several times as a kid, and had the read-a-long record (remember vinyl?). My friends and I LOVED this movie. They even named their dog Arrow. The aminamtion was silly yet enchanting. The songs were wonderfull. As a child the characters were were SO unreal but easy to relate to. As I grow older and more nostailgic about my childhood, the POINT becomes more important. I must have this on DVD. I see the version naratered by Ringo Star listed. And Although I loved "The Yellow Submarine", I prefer the original version narated by Dustin Hoffman. PLEASE bring THE POINT back to us!!!

Summary: 10,000 Stars
Review: That is how many stars I would give this film if it were possible. I recommend this movie to anyone, particularly to parents with children. Show this movie to your children so they can get "the point." It is a very important movie.

Summary: An old favorite
Review: One of the coolest new stories to come out of the 70s - read it / watch it / listen to it and remember what makes us different also makes us one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I've watched it hundreds of times and ready to go again.
Review: The video production of "The Point" is a classic in the sense of "Gone With the Wind", as poignant as "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?" and as memorable a musical as "The Music Man", all rolled into the genre of a children's cartoon. Anyone under 14 years and over 25 years old will see the genius at once. (Between those years, we already know everything and the movie appears trite.) If they ever re-release the video, I will buy many copies - for viewing, for gifts and for posterity. In the meanwhile, I will continue to watch my well-worn copies with my friends, with my daughter (now 30) and soon, with my grand-child. Truly a movie great.

Summary: Do you have to have a "point" to have a point?
Review: In "The Point" we meet and follow the experiences of a little lad named Oblio. Oblio was born with a round head, but into a pointed world. Everything in his village has points. The buildings have points, the houses have points, and the main product of local industry is, well, points. The people even have pointed heads. What is a little round-headed fellow to do?

Oblio endures the inevitable taunting of school mates, and other challenges that accompany someone who is, well, different. Through it all though, Oblio remains pleasant, and polite. After all of his trials, Oblio finally learns the answer to the question, "Do you have to have a 'point' to have a point?"

This movie works at multiple levels. It works as high quality entertainment for children of all ages. It has animation remeniscent of "School House Rock" from the 1970s, memorable music, including the song, "Me and My Arrow," and a great story line. This movie also works for adults concerned about issues of diversity. This movie would be as appropriate in a college classroom as in a family's front room.

I highly recommend this movie to one and all. You will enjoy it thoroughly...if you can find it.

5-stars all the way!

Summary: Trying to get The Point...
Review: I love this movie!! The story of round-headed Oblio and his dog Arrow and their journey into the pointless forest (after banishment from the land of Point by the evil Count)is bouyed tremendously by a Harry Nillson score and enjoyable animation. I was one of those who missed the Point when it first came out. But I bought the cassette tape, and loved every song. I finally did see the show, and loved it. For me -- the animation adds to the songs, rather than the other way around. I'm gonna get the CD of the Point now, and hope that this will be out on dvd soon.

..........Ringo Starr, Dustin Hoffman? Really?!!

Review: I just found out that there is/was a video. My husband saw the TV movie and loved it!! In fact, he recently ordered the CD. He got all excited when I told him about the video. He desperately wants me to see it. Now that I have read a few of the other reviews I see that this must be a VERY special production. Please ask the studio to re-release the video SOON!!
