Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: One of the best movies to come out in a long time. Have seen it 3 times already and can't wait for the DVD release. I have a 14 year old and an 8 year old, they would go everyday if I would take them. Thanks for some great family entertainment to stretch the imagination. Thinking outside the box is great for children.

Summary: "Arry, you're a wizard"
Review: Through the movie was cool...I liked the book better! I wanted to hear the sorting hat song, but I didn't hear it which, was a great dissapointment. But the costumes were great and specktacular! (Espeacially the invisibilty cloak!)
I hope you will enjoy the movie as well as the book .
oh, and beware you know who is quite funny!

Summary: Go see Lord of the Rings instead!!
Review: I cannot imagine how so many people have such good things to say about this movie. Where are your standards!? I have read the books (as an adult), and enjoyed them. However, the movie was just *horribly* done. My main gripe was this: the books have many serious undertones to them, such as Harry's harsh treatment at the hands of his Aunt and Uncle, and ecomomic or racial discrimination (ie ron weasly being teased since his family has no money or because he comes from a "mixed-blood" background of magic & non-magic users). The movie goes out of its way to present these items in the most ridiculous slapstick sort of way possible (particularly with the scenes involving Harry's Aunt & Uncle). As a result, there is not the same feeling communicated to viewers of Harry's emotional suffering or of any real danger at all. What does that create? TOTAL LACK OF SUSPENSE. Then there are a million little things that were changed for the movie such as Harry's scar was moved from the center of his head to the right side...Hagrid is not upset/surprised when he finds out Harry doesn't even know wizards exist..No one bothers to mention when Hagrid is hiding his dragon egg that dragons are illegal (hence the hiding of the egg) etc, etc, ETC!! Not only does this mean that the movie is not true to the book, but that the changes *decrease* the quality of the story!! My companion for the movie had not read the books and was thouroughly confused on many points. Confusion is the mark of a poor storyteller, or in this case, moviemaker. The only positive thing I can say is I liked the efforts of the children actors. The special effects were no more than what you would expect. If you like Harry Potter, read the books again! If you want to spend your time watching a long movie, skip this one and go see Lord of the Rings.

Summary: A NEW HARRY POTTER FAN!
Review: I HAD NEVER READ ANY OF THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS UNTIL I SAW THIS MOVIE. I THINK THEY CASTED THE CHARACTERS PERFECTLY! NOW AS I READ THE OTHER BOOKS I CAN CLEARLY SEE THOSE WONDERFUL ACOTRS PLAYING OUT THE SCENES. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE WONDERFUL BOOKS AND THE MOVIES TO COME!

Summary: I loved Harry Potter!!!
Review: I loved it and everyone I talked to loved it. It was very imaginative and displayed the characters exactly the way I pictured them from the book!

My 7 year old brother liked when Harry Potter got the snitch

It wasn't too scary but set the right mood for the story and the acters and actresses were unbelievable.

We own the computer game and play it all the time!

I wasn't crazy about the music but, I still give it....drumroll...FIVE STARS!!! I can't wait for the next movie. Tell J.K Rowling to get a move on the 5th book; I don't think I can take the suspence any longer!

Summary: Totally "Wicked"!
Review: Oh my gosh, I really had no idea how positively wonderful this movie was going to be so I was comletely surprised! It had great special effects and fantastic actors! It is truly movie magic!
Definetly the best movie of 2001, and I'm sorry, Lord of the Rings was very good, but it just doesn't compare to Harry Potter!(I don't even know why people compared the two, there totally different movies.)

Summary: Wonderful and Amazing!!!
Review: When I went to see this movie I really didn't know what to expect. I had started reading the book back in October but I was only up to the part where Harry meets Hagrid. But I went to see the movie not too long after it went to the theater. After I saw it many of my friends expressed their feelings that they didn't know if they wanted to see it because they were affraid it would be different from the book. Well I have since finished reading the book and I'm happy to say that for the most part the movie does stick to the book. The film was wonderful and the special affects were amazing. I also can see why some of the parents were against Harry Potter (Books) in the schools. However I do not feel that it would do that much damage as long as the parents make sure these children know that it is just make believe and not real. Definitely go see it! A comparable movie would be: Matilda (by: Roald Dahl).

Summary: Wonderful!!!
Review: I went to see this movie not too long after it came out. I really didn't know what all the story was all about, but I had been reading the book since October. Anyway I really enjoyed it. Some people have told me they didn't really want to see the movie because it would probably be to different from the book. Well I have since read the rest of the book and for the most part it stuck very closely to the book. It is a wonderful movie and if you enjoyed the books you must go see it.
