Summary: Where is the REAL "E.T.", as seen in 1982??
Review: Why on earth is the ORIGINAL version of thi film not on this DVD? I was greatly dismayed by the absurd changes made to this brilliant and unforgettable film for its recent theatrical reissue--I would have hoped that all the negative audience response would have at least ensured a first-class release of the original theatrical cut on this new DVD...WRONG! Bad choice by Universal, and one which I hope will be quickly rectified.

Summary: Merry Christmas To Me!
Review: I was about 2 or 3 when I first met E.T.. I was kind of a lonely kid, and fell in love right off. I had t-shirts, dolls, and the novels/storyboooks. I watched the movie over & over, it was released several times in the theater, and then released to VHS (with a snazzy green bar)... It begins and I found out the same scenes still scare me (the scene in the field when Elliot first sees E.T.) and I still cry for last 45 minutes of the movie. I liked the deleted scenes, in the bathtub scene we figure out he's aquatic which explains why he goes to the stream on Halloween. I love the music, I love the 80's references (tons of them from Star Wars to Strawberry Shortcake), I loved, love, and will continue to love this movie for as long as I have breath in me. I don't mind paying $ per DVD. I agree it is steep, but it's the only way to get the original version plus tons of other E.T. stuff. By the way, if you know me, this would make an excellent Christmas present! :D

Summary: Universal did a great job with this gift set
Review: Despite contrary belief i think universal did a great job with the gift set.It has the original script, the 1982 version with is not on the collector's edition, and the original soundtrack remastered this dvd will be worth alot more than the 2 disc set. This gift set is great so buy it.

Summary: What is Spielberg doing?
Review: Spielberg really messed up this time. Why oh why is he putting the 2002 version on this dvd? The computer graphics look botched up, and we didn't need the extra scene in the bathtub. The original version would have been a smarter move to put on a collector's edition dvd. The puppet from the original looked just fine. He really messed up.

Summary: Spielberg at his best.
Review: 20 years ago I saw a film that would become one of the best family films of all times. Considering technology of the time, this movie was cutting edge and still would make some would be directors wish they had half the talent that Spielberg had way back then. This new release has an enhanced soundtrack and visual effects that weren't necessary, but make for a better viewing experience. With it's re-release in the theaters, I was able to share with my children a little piece of my childhood. Seeing a film like this, it is no wonder we have seen such great things from this director. A must have for any film enthusiast.

Summary: Censorship?
Review: I am not pro gun or anything, but altering the movie so that the crooks have walkie talkies instead of guns is just stupid. Why do Lucas and Spielberg insist on editing the classics. I wouldn't take this DVD if you gave it to me.

Summary: 20 Years and Still Great!
Review: E.T. is a great movie, never mind that it's 20 years old now. You'll still laugh, and wonder, and feel sad during the movie. John Williams has the the perfect score for this movie, and it flows with the great acting and directing. I plan on buying this DVD when it's released, and I think most people who have seen this wonderful movie will too.

Summary: E.T. Phone Home!
Review: E.T.... I remember my first encounter with this little alien. I was two years old at the time and I was at Universal Studios Florida and my mom took me on E.T. Adventure. After the ride, I was scared to death by any sight of E.T. But, finally in the year 2002, I mustured up my strength and saw E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial:The 20th Anniversery...And I was awe-stircken, dazzled, razzled, and nervous when I saw one of the best movies ever made. I couldn't get enough of the little thing, I got the Pez and everything! The plot is entrancing, the actors belivability was incredible throughout the entire film. I'm surprised they didn't go off to do bigger and better and things in their life(excluding Drew Barrymore). Thanks to Steven Speilberg, his creation became an enormous masterpiece that most of the world could enjoy anywhere and anytime. My grade:A+ because of the phenominal acting, the irrestibal alien character, the extraordinray director, and a grat script! Little known fact: Original working title for E.T. was A Boy's Life(Don't ask me why).

Summary: The best movie of 1982
Review: This is truly a wonderful and beautiful work of cinema from genius Steven Spielburg, this became one of the most inspiring and most important movies in history making it number#3 at the Box-Office.

It is about a boy ( Henry Thomas) who befriends an Alien that was stranded on Earth now must bring him back to his home planet. This is truly a touching and magical film experience, perhaps the best family movie of 1982 next to " The Dark Crystal", " The Last Unicorn" and " Secret of NIMH".

Own it on DVD.

Summary: Botched Up DVD Job
Review: The movie itself is above average and quite entertaining for young children, but this dvd package is outragous and full of gimmicks, not to mention that it's the only way to own the original E.T. Universal really messed up this time.
