Summary: Disney Does It Again..... Advertises A Movie To The Top!
Review: I'm amazed at the power of advertising. It would seem as if Monsters Inc is a smash hit. Even before the movie came out! The McDonalds toys, the stuffed monsters, etc... Disney should try putting out a movie on its merits, not on its advertising budget. Not as funny as I had hoped. For all the hype, just not a 5 star.

Summary: Good points to be made
Review: Not only are we afraid of the monsters in our closets and under our beds--they are also afraid of us. Our touch can kill them. In Monstropolis, monsters try to get children's screams so they can provide energy for their city. When a child enters the city by accident, the race is on to return her to her bedroom. It is up to Mike and Sully to do so without being noticed.
Both adults and children will enjoy this film, with voices done by Billy Crystal and John Goodman. Great movie, but just not up to par with the TOY STORies. The ending is perfect, and we will enjoy a sequel or two.

Summary: Charming!
Review: This is one of the cutest animated movies ever made. It really hits on the main issues between adults and kids in such a sweet way. It combines sweetness and silliness with just enough sarcasm to give it an edge. A fine film with wonderful voice-overs, imaginative characters and a charming story. I'm an adult, but I plan to go back alone and see it again!

Summary: Even the Dads said, "Aaawww..."
Review: We took our nine- and three-year-old daughters to see Monsters, Inc. It's the best Pixar picture yet! A little scary in a couple places for the three-year-old, but the fast-pace and frequent comic-relief helped. Even the men in the crowd were touched by the ending. GO SEE THIS MOVIE! Also, the now-customary short before the start of the movie had the whole audience rolling in the aisles! It would be worth buying a ticket just to see it.

Summary: 'Monster's Inc.' - Pixar Magic!
Review: 'Monster's Inc.', the latest full-length feature release from Pixar (in a 50% collaboration with Disney) is a stunning and hilarious blend of great gags with a strong and emotional storyline...

Mike (the little green guy) and Sulley (the big blue guy) have their working lives at 'Monster's Inc.' - a bizarre 'factory' in the hidden city of Monstropolis - disrupted by the unintentional arrival of two-year old Boo - a little girl who thinks Sulley is just a big blue 'kitty' and certainly isn't threatened by a city populated with hideous monsters. As the duo struggle to get Boo home again, they uncover a plot to kidnap children and extract the energy from their screams - the power source of Monstropolis...

Without a single doubt, Pixar has raised the bar for the standard of computer-assisted animation with this film. Sulley's fur is to marvel at in itself - it bristles and moves perfectly naturally - and adds a superb realism to the character. Much attention has also been paid to the quality of light - it is no longer as hard and flat as in the Toy Story movies, for instance. There is a greater sense of depth and a very natural feel.

The character animation is of the highest quality. The interplay between Sulley, Mike and the other (strong) characters is superb - Sulley's growing fondness for Boo is convincingly portrayed and very moving (one scene in particular is a tear-jerker, when you can believe entirely in the very deep and powerful emotions of the characters). The humour is great - Crystal is perfect as the wisecracking Mike, trying to make his big blue friend see things the 'right' way.

Go see this film! Pixar has surpassed itself, the computer animation is not just a geeky pleasure any more - these guys really can tell a powerful, wonderful story!!

Summary: Monsters Inc - Not just for kids
Review: An absolute delight! I enjoyed this film as much as my 11 year old. Charming characters, including an irresistibly cute toddler, set the stage in this upside down fantasy romp into the world of monsters. There are lots of great laughs in the film due in no small part to the impeccable comedic timing of Billy Crystal and John Goodman, who perform the voices of the two main chartacters. PIXAR does it again with outstanding animation effects and an intriquing story line. A good time for all.

Summary: Monsters Inc,, Business is GOOD! (So is the movie)
Review: The world needs a good laugh and Pixar delivers it to the screen, piping hot and fresh. The fine folks at Pixar who brought you Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life now present their crowning animation achievement, Monsters Inc.. Take a story line of incredible irony where monsters are afraid of children and you've got a formula that works. Add in some great performances by John Goodman & Billy Crystal doing the main character voices and throw in the precocious yet all too cuddly voice of Mary Gibbs as Boo and you have some very real characters you can believe in. I was hesitant about going to this movie. Not that I didn't enjoy the previous Pixar offerings, I did, I just tend to shy away from movies with months of pre-release hype because they tend to disappoint and never live up to their advertising. Well, how wrong I was about this movie! The hype doesn't even do it justice! Kids will love it, adults will love it more. While the animation and action and characterizations will enthrall the kids, the jokes, the dialogue and all too familiar corporate workings inside the Monsters Inc. factory will have adults in tears of laughter. This movie moves at breakneck speed and nothing is wasted just for the sake of eye candy. It all works and works well. See it with your kids, see it with your 40 year old coworkers after work but just see it!

Summary: Pixar Strikes Back!!!
Review: It's seems that Pixar can do no wrong. Let's look at their track record: Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and now Monsters, Inc. Four films, four grand slams. Monsters, Inc. may be the most brilliant light amidst Pixar's spectacular lineup. It is the most impressive computer animated film from the technical side that I have ever seen. It also has an unheard of amount of emotional depth in regards to animated features - or even current live-action films for that matter. Besides being a spectacular film, Monsters, Inc. also serves to reclaim Disney's animation crown. Shrek, a great film in and of itself, had taken the crown earlier in the year in direct competition. Shrek not only was far superior at the box office, it was also far superior from a story standpoint than the lackluster Atlantis. Just as Pixar and Disney asserted themselves over Dreamworks in 1998 with A Bug's Life over Antz -a bug movie taking on a bug movie- Disney and Pixar has once again topped Dreamworks with Monster's, Inc. - a monster topping a monster movie. I'm not sure if this film will surpass Shrek's massive take, though I'm sure it'll make a boat load. I can tell you that it does surpass Shrek in story and pure entertainment, not an easy task. If you haven't seen Monsters, Inc. then go see it. It's like Pixar's other films, it makes us all feel more human and realize the shortcomings of our lives - and it attempts to show us some corrective measures. Thank you once again Pixar for such a wonderful gem of a film.

Summary: Totally terrific
Review: This was a great movie. Lots of fun. Took my 4 and 7 yr old girls to see it. They were totally fixed on the screen all the way. Great humor and a fairytale ending makes this a five star rating for us.
