Summary: Monsters, Inc.
Review: My family and myself went to see this movie the very first night it opened, in Fort Worth, Tx. Disney has put out a lot of good flicks with Pixar, but Monsters, Inc. has been the best. I am a grandmother of one, and the actors portraying the Monsters are incredible as usual--they have outdone themselves again. And the character, Boo won my heart because she resembles my own little granddaughter. And the relationship she develops with Sully is so real and true that the movie just is wonderful!!!!! That is all I can say about it--and I can't wait to get my own copy of the movie when it comes out on DVD. -Carolyn B.

Summary: Lacks the magic that made Toy Story a hit
Review: "Monsters, Inc." is a film that I really wanted to love. I absolutely adored Pixar's "Toy Story" films. However, I found that "Monsters, Inc." lacked the magic that made "Toy Story" so wonderful. It does have its moments, but overall the humor is nowhere near as witty and original as "Toy Story". I also thought that the film was a little too depressing at the end for its main audience, children. I also thought some of the monsters were too demented looking, some really terrified my three year old sister (and made me cringe).

My favorite part of "Monsters, Inc." was listening to the wonderful voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal, and Steve Buscemi. All these actors have such distinctive and memorable voices on-screen, so listening to just their voices is extremely fun and entertaining.

John Goodman does the voice of Sully, a large furry and friendly monster who is competing with Steve Buscemi's character, Randall, for the "Most Screams" honor. Billy Crystal steals the show with the voice of Mike; a hilarious one-eyed green monster that assists Sully is his quests. The way it works is the monsters go to work each day at Monster's Inc., where they stand in a large room and wait for a new child's closet door to be brought in front of them. Before they go through the door, their assistant attached a canister to collect the screams of the child. They then step through the door, which transports them into the child's room, and they scare the living daylights out of the child before returning. Quite and interesting concept, don't you think? I also enjoyed seeing the world of the monsters, which is really quite entertaining.

As "Monsters, Inc." progresses, it becomes tiresome in the way it clings to its crazy plot, which includes the usual last-minute heroics and frantic chases after setting up its world with such brilliance. The weak and unattractive story takes away from the film's creative aspects.

"Monsters, Inc." could have been as wonderful and as touching as "Shrek", but it does fall short in my book. It might just be my fickle personal taste, but I really couldn't find any reason to love this movie as I did 'Toy Story" and "Shrek".

Summary: Outpaces "Shrek" by Half a League
Review: What a shame that "Shrek" had an earlier release date than "Monsters, Inc." because this is the better movie of the two..."Monsters, Inc." is a sheer delight, from start to finish. Cute, I mean REALLY cute, story line about how the monsters actually have a work-a-day world where scaring children is a job for superstars. When a human child makes it to the other side of the bedroom door into the monsters' world, all heck breaks out before the situation can be set aright again...the children in my movie theatre, including 3yr-old Alexander, just squealed with laughter the whole time, as did the adults present, too. And not a fart joke in sight! That's the difference between child and adolescent humor, I guess.

If you want to see the TRUE best cartoon movie of the year, look no farther than "Monsters, Inc."

Summary: HOMERUN.........AGAIN
Review: Leave it to Pixar to create, besides another blockbuster, a really touching story. In the grand tradition of Toy Story 2 and its predecessor and A Bug's Life, Pixar and Disney's fourth collaboration doesn't disappoint. Mike and Sulley are, what else? Monsters!! They work in a factory where each monster is assigned a door leading to a child's bedroom. Their job is to scare the child and collect the kids' screams. When one child, "Boo", crosses over to the monsters' side, Sulley befriends her and learns the importance of friendship, love, and hope. For you snifflers, bring extra tissues. Not only is the movie phenomenal, this DVD is packed full of goods. Looks like Pixar has delivered once again. I can't wait to see what Disney and Pixar cook up for their next meal.

Summary: One great animated feature
Review: Whoever said that this movie was just another Toy Story left their brain at home when they went to see it. Monsters Inc. is possibly the best 3D movie yet, and definately one of the best animated features made. Was it designed for children... yes, but it is certainly well worth the time to see. The story is unusual and interesting, and the animation is the best yet in the 3D movie arena. The characters have weight to them, and really fit the personalities of their voice actors. In addition the attention to detail is outstanding. As a 3D Animator, and professor of, I would rather have my name associated with this film than any of the others out there. SEE MONSTERS INC!

Summary: Lovable monstrosity!!!
Review: After having watched the film, my toddler now fears no monsters lurking in the dark. Whenever she plays her 'pretend games', she calls herself 'Boo' & I'm Mommy Mike while my husband is Daddy Sully.

Like Toy Story, this film is highly recommendable to both young & adult audience, alike. Also a good collector's item for all of us who will forever be young at heart.

Summary: Great Family Fun
Review: My husband and I are always looking for a movie we can take our two young sons to. We definitely found that in Monsters Inc. So many times we go to what we think are "kids" movies, only to find them riddled with "adult language" and "sexual overtones". What a joy to actually have a movie that earns its' "G" rating. There is a need for more of these great movies. Hope to see more in the near future.

Summary: A FAIRLY GOOD MOVIE...
Review: Monsters Inc. is a good movie but it is the same exact thing as Toy Story with different characters, they should have made Toy Story 3.

Summary: Much Better Than Shrek
Review: I love this movie! It is so funny and cute with some of the best music I've ever heard in a movie. The voice acting alone is a reason to see it. Also the story is imaginative and heartwarming. This movie should have won the oscar for best animated picture because it surpasses Shrek on every level in my opinion. And since Shrek won, I'm wondering if the people who picked Shrek even watched Monsters Inc.

Summary: Fantastic Family Movie
Review: This is one of the best movies I've EVER seen with my kids. If you didn't see it in the theatre it is a must buy if you have children. Even my 22 month old stayed still and watched the whole movie. We've spent the last 5 months "scaring" each other with monster toys and he won't sleep without his Sully stuffed toy. Your kids will never again be afraid of monsters in the closet, under the bed, etc. Highly entertaining for every age group, even parents and grandparents!
