Rating: Summary: The Hype Detracts An Entire Star Review: I vowed not to watch or read anything to do with Harry Potter due to the fact that 6 year olds I knew were enthralled by it. HOWEVER, when my friends made me see the movie I was somewhat surprised by the plot. It is actually kind of neat. I was also taken aback by the werewolf bad guy in the forest (wasn't expecting that in a PG movie). I thought that the acting was above par but not great by any means. The presence of something juvenile-ish in the film annoyed me since the plot was "neat" and deserved to be presented to a more adult audience. This is also the reason I have stayed away from reading the book, the movie had a very Raold Dahl-ish feeling to it. I don't understand why the movie and book are such a big deal. There needed to be some more action or suspense in the movie. The only reason I can think of is because it is geared for 3rd graders. (Which is very unfortunate because they kick your seat, tell Harry Potter he can do it, and give away the entire plot in the middle of the movie.) Overall: I would definitely go see it but don't expect to be amazed, the hype takes away a whole star.
Rating: Summary: The Beginning of the Next Movie Classics Review: This movie was amazing. I urge anyone that sees it to first read the book, seeing as how it could be a little confusing if you do not know all of the background. I was disappointed that some major events and details were left out of the movie, yet the movie was still wonderful. This movie is setting up the path for the rest of the Harry Potter movies coming. This book wasn't the most exciting or interesting of the series so far, I'll admit this. Meaning that the movie wasn't as action packed as one might imagine. Yet, the movies and books get better with time and this movie is so incredible because it is the first. It is a classic. It is the beginning and the beginning must always be appreciated.
Rating: Summary: Not Good! Review: The movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was horrible compared to the book. They destroy the images a child makes in his/her mind of the teachers and students of Hogwarts, the castle, and the landscape. It really bothered me that they put Harry's scar above his right eye rather than in the center like the books, and it DOES say in the book that his scar is in the center. Dudley is a little big for his age isn't he, plus his hair, its brown. Whats with that, its supposed to be blond isn't it?
Rating: Summary: One of the best movies ever! Review: This was an amazing movie to watch. I was very worried that it would not be what I was expecting, but it was true enough to the book considering the length of the movie. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and I am SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! The effects were great, and the cast was absolutly perfect. Truthfully, it was not as good a plot as the Lord of the Rings (I am also a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien), but Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was brilliant and fun to watch. Definetly not a waste of a few hours, it was very long, but well worth every second.
Rating: Summary: Just what I hoped it would be Review: I dont usually write reviews but just had to w/ this movie.. I loved it. I was told by many people to read the books...that they were great. I got them for x-mas and its the best present i got. I was really happy that the movie did not stray from the book. I enjoyed it from start to finish and I cant wait for the second movie:)

Rating: Summary: Potter: The new celebrity Review: Harry Potter is an exceptional film that accurately represents the characters, scenary, and magic of the highly acclaimed New York Times Best Seller. After viewing this film, I was pleased to see Chris Columbus (Director) take into consideration the important details of the novel. Harry Potter IS what people say: AN AMAZING FILM!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review: I thought the movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I was brilliantly done by a wonderful director and stayed true to the book. The movie is excellent and I can't say how happy I was watching it. ... my smile never left my face while watching the movie. I felt like a little kid again. The little boy is so adorable and they couldn't have picked a better Harry. All the children and adults did a wonderful job acting in the movie, I can't wait to see it again.
Rating: Summary: Better than the Book at Least Review: Deciding, in my own way, to judge things first-hand, I went to see this "Harry Potter". I didn't have too many expectations. In fact, I tried to read the book a year or so ago and found it charming, if trite. The movie was better written than the book (easy to say), and definately more charming. I enjoyed my time in the theatre. I would've enjoyed it even more if the people in the seats in front of me were shorter (and I'm 6'4), and if the people around me were quiet. Oh well... But that does not deal with the movie, which had only one flaw. I'm sure it was the same in the book, but I didn't get that far with the book. I mentioned that the book was trite. The ENDING threatened to go the limit and ruin everything which went before. I'm not talking about the little plot twist (which I personally found credible). I'm talking about the final solution to the problem. Harry's hands, if you will? I'm not going to give it away for those who have not experienced this movie. But until that point (almost 10 or 15 minutes before the end), I thought it a beautiful film. Even with the end, I'll buy this on video some time after it comes out. I'll have to hide it under my widescreen LOTR, of course (I'm over 25 and have my pride, you know), but I will buy it.
