Summary: Interactive Learning tool!
Review: This is a great video because it teaches kids basic counting, all their letters in order, shapes, rhythm, and the value of physical excercise in an involved way. It gets toddlers up and moving and off their diaper butts! I did this video with my son once or twice showing him all the excercises that the kids do in the video. He picked it up quickly and likes to move along with the kids. He sings the songs on his own, he likes the music so much. And we play the shape game. Singing that song and finding the shapes as we sung kept him happy for 40 minutes at the doctors believe it or not. One last note, his Grandparents love watching him do "his stick dance". I have 4 years experience as a preschool teacher, and must commend Hap Palmer for outdoing himself with this one.

Summary: Boring
Review: This is by far my favorite video. My daughter has been watching it since she was 13 months old. She loves to look at all the little kids in it and I love to sing the songs. For some reason, this is the only DVD that keeps her still for any period of time. Even Baby Einstein can't keep her attention for more than five minutes. I do all the things that the kids in the DVD do (with the sticks, the bean bags, the alphabet, etc). I can't wait for the day we do them together!!!

Summary: Toddler Pleaser!
Review: This is the first BabySongs video we have seen. We got it at the library and I am frantically purchasing it now (it had to be returned...tragedy!). My 19 month old daughter loves this tape passionately. "Tap Your Sticks" is her favorite, with two big serving spoons as her sticks. She asks for this video as "Shapes?"...the cheesy song where the kids are dressed in giant shape costume is another favorite. That particular song seems especially low budget, but she can tell you all the shapes now. I like how the kids in this video are real kids...not Disneyfied hams!

Summary: Great Fun!
Review: This video was purchased from the bargain bin at a "super store" for 3.00. Now that I have seen it I would not hesitate to purchase it at full price. My kids love this video! The lyrics are simple and fun. I agree with the mother who wrote saying this video is not intended to teach the alphabet, ABC's or colors. It is for reinforcing concepts learned from parents. An excellent find.

Summary: Much Better Than Most Preschool ABC/123 Videos
Review: We love the Baby Songs videos in our household (mom, dad, and our 21 month old twins). Baby Songs ABC, 123, Colors and Shapes in an very good tape. Notice that I say "very good" ... that is because it is not as good as the first two Baby Songs tapes (Baby Songs and More Baby Songs). Compared, however, to other preschool learning videos, this tape is FABULOUS (and we have tried Sesame Street, Richard Scarry, and a number of others).

Also, note parents: Baby Songs tapes are probably the ONLY preschool videos that you can stand to watch almost as much as your kids do .. which is good, since they want to watch them over and over.

My kids now like to "Tap Their Sticks" and are working to keep up with the "Bean Bag Alphabet Rag". Thanks to this tape, they are now on their way to recognizing most primary colors and shapes, and know the letters "E" and "O". They also can sort of count to three.

BTW -- I personally LOVE the "Betty Beep" song that the previous reviewer didn't like (a counting song). It is one of my favorites.

Summary: One of Hap Palmer's best
Review: We own 4 Baby Songs videos (Baby Songs, More Baby Songs, Animals, and ABC/123) and this is one of the best. It has been one of my 19th months old's favorite! The songs are catchy and interactive and we integrate some of the lyrics in everyday situations (Circle, circle, where can you be....) I think that anyone who has negative opinions of this video has a child who is either not ready for it or is a slow learner. We have never relied on this video to teach the alphabet or numbers and parents are negligent in their teaching if they rely on this instead of one on one instruction. My son already knew the alphabet, numbers 1-10, shapes, and colors when he was 13/14 months old. He did learn his color combinations from this video (ex. blue and yellow make green) and the video helps reinforce concepts...
