Summary: Excellent teaching tool ... but
Review: We love this DVD. My son enjoys and asks for it frequently. Highly recommend...my son loves to count things now!

HOWEVER, I do have just one small complaint. The "chapters" are not clean...if you go to the chapter on the number 3 you get the tail end of 2; chapter 5 closes with the beginning of the next number. This is annoying...especially when you want to go to a number and you have to sit thru the end of the previous chapter and all the while La Petite Prince is chanting 3 3 3 3 3 3 3.
I have noticed that the SS DVD's (like Follow that Bird for example) don't have logical clean chapters....why? It doesn't seem like rocket science to me...

Summary: Amateur kids video critic
Review: I am so greatful to sesame street for this video because my nephew who is 1yr& 11months loves the video. It uses numbers in a very creative way. The songs helped my nephew pick up the number quickly and the characters on sesame street were so much fun to watch. Even adults couldn't help but to sing-along and count. The constant repetition and counting things everywhere the character went made my nephew really pay attention. Parent's this is a must buy and i honestly wasn't dissapointed. Thank you to the people who wrote reviews it helped me decide.

Summary: Love it, love it, love IT!
Review: I started showing this DVD to my 6 months old daughter. At first, it seemed too sophisticated for her. But, 6 months later, she dances to the songs, and smiles as Earnie counts his way through the story. It's very attention catching, and most importantly, Earnie is a pretty good singer. I just love the way Sesame street teaches counting to be fun. It's very innovative and a must buy!

Summary: Great video
Review: This video is perfect for kids, my two year old loves it. I also find myself watching it with him almost every time. It is smart and witty and very entertaining!

Summary: Parent Friendly
Review: Parents, as well as kids, will enjoy this video. You learn to count to 20, but I especially enjoy 1 through 10. You get groovy birds singing an addictable "3," a hillariously 1980's Elmo doing "5," a catchy "7," and the Count snorkeling with colorful fish for "10." And the plot (of Ernie repeatedly frustrating a hotel bell hop) ain't bad either.

Summary: Very good
Review: This is a nice video, gives a chance to learn the numbers, but the Sesame Street Learning About Letters cassette was much better. I'm not sure the plot is so easily understood and it would have been nice to have the numbers run through more frequently or more songs and less of standing around and talking. Nevertheless it is a very good cassette and is recommended over the age of 2.

Summary: Who's that Ernie?
Review: Yep, despite that voice change, this is a truly engaging disc. Sesame Street is still as entertaining to me as an adult as it was when I was a kid, and my kid is now enjoying this too.

But I must take a minute and criticize the sound quality of this disc (and 'Do The Alphabet' as well). In normal operation, I will run my TV volume at 19, 26 for VHS, 23 for DVD. This DVD requires the volume turned up to an unbelievable 37 before it's decently audible. But when I pop in the 'Kids Favorite Songs 1' DVD, I have to turn the volume DOWN to 14. What is up with this, Sony Wonder?

Summary: my 16 mo old absolutely loves this video
Review: Sure, it teaches them to be naughty and tease like Ernie teases poor lazy Benny, but it has a nice story line, and really teaches the numbers -- my son just starts dancing when he hears the title song sung by Ernie. Lots of the songs are pretty good, and definitely stick in your head. The great thing(imo) is that Elmo has only a small bit, and this video has firmly lodged Ernie as his absolute favorite Sesame Street Character!!! He talks about tubby time and bath(not on this DVD though), and has learned some numbers (I think :-)) We have a laugh at Benny every time we watch, which is a few times a week -- would be 24 x 7 if it was my son's choice.

Summary: Great DVD
Review: My 1.5 yr old loves this and she can actually count now! Filled with songs and old standbys, you cant go too wrong with this one. For maximum "babysitting time", try 25th anniversary DVD - it is an hour long! this one is half that.

Summary: I miss the *real* Ernie...
Review: Is anyone else annoyed by the "new" voice of Ernie? I find the character has lost that spark of mischievousness that made Ernie so wonderful. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Otherwise, I agree that Benny is obnoxious and out of place, and some of the songs are so banal it makes my skin crawl (that "Rock around the Clock" thing is God-awful).

On the plus side, at least it doesn't center around Elmo (people complain that Baby Bear's speech is a bad influence, I can't even understand Elmo half the time, and I sure wish he (she?) would stop referring to itself in the 3rd person...).

Just grouchy tonight, but I'm not fond of this one.
