Summary: A NEVER-TO-BE-FORGOTTEN MOVIE
Review: I am a teacher of English in P. R. China and I always start my first English lesson to my new students(whoever they are: teenagers or adults)with a song from THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This has been my first choice for 18 years. All my students were impressed both by the song and my way of making friends with them. We became good friends soon and that always helped me with my work to follow later on. I love the film and so do my students.

Summary: How DO you solve a problem like Maria?
Review: I watched this about once a year when I was a kid, and I liked it for all the normal reasons: good tunes, a fun family, majestic scenery. But a few weeks ago I watched it with my roommate (we're both 23-year-old men) and although we were actually quite giddy initially - the "Hills are alive" shot is still a sugary jolt - we got pretty tired with it and could barely make it to the intermission. Is any family remotely that cute? Would the baroness stand a chance against Maria in a zillion years? Just how many teen ingenues did they have to turn down before they settled on the lifeless actress who played Liesl? She's 16 going on 17 pains in my neck. Still, it is a story you can root for, and Julie Andrews is a dear. As in doe... ou know the rest.

Summary: Truly a classic, one of the best movies of all time.
Review: Julie Andrews is at her best. This film contains some of the best songs of all time. The story line is interesting, well done, and keeps your attention. My family has seen this movie many many times (we have worn out one tape) and it continues to be a favorite.

Summary: My all-time favourite movie!!!
Review: Maria, the young postulant misfit, is sent by the Mother Abbess to be a governess to the seven children of Captain Von Trapp, a widower. The Captain runs his family 'like he was on one of his ships', and uses whistle signals to call his children. (In a hilarious moment, Maria turns the tables on him...Watch to find out how!) But a prolonged absence by the Captain shortly after she takes up her post gives her an opportunity to implement her ideas for raising children, and very successfully so. The children soon fall in love with her, and she with...the Captain! After the necessary (but VERY touching) drama to make us wonder if he loves her (Did I mention there is a Baroness with designs on the Captain?), things come together for them. But trouble rears its ugly head in the form of Hitler and his Third Reich. When the Germans give Von Trapp an ultimatum to join their Navy, the patriotic Captain is determined to escape with the family to Switzerland. Do they make it? You'll have to watch and find out, won't you! A great movie, easily the best musical of all time! Its appeal is universal., and you will find yourself humming the favourites 'Do Re Mi', 'My Favourite Things' and 'Edelweiss', among other charming numbers. A must-see movie for all!!

Summary: A true classic!
Review: I saw this movie for the first time when I was 5 years old. Although I didn't understand what an abbey was, or why Maria was considered a problem, I loved the movie. I recently bought this movie, and it has been all I want to watch. I love the songs "Edelweiss" and "Something Good", which is sung when Maria and the Captain declared their love for each other. I reccommend this movie for anyone who wants to see a true classic.

Summary: A Timeless Classic!
Review: My mother loved watching this movie when she was a little girl. Her choices of those breathtaking musical movies, like "The Sound of Music" and "Chitty Bang Bang" are passed on like a family treasure. My little children love watching them, stopping all other "exciting" things (like playing with their favorite toys & software games) when Maria starts to sing or Chitty starts racing in the Grand Prix. Your eyes will be just as glued!!!
