Summary: Great bargain!
Review: The Philips 710AT DVD player is a real bargain. Easy to use remote control. Great video quality using S-video connection. Hooked it up to my stereo and am impressed by the audio sound. Glad I did not pay ... more for a Toshiba or Panasonic brand DVD player. This Philips DVD player is a winner in my household.

Read reviews that said this player was slow to load, but I disagree. By the time I put the DVD in, pushed play, and walked back to my sofa, the video was cranking up. How much faster do you really need it to be?

Summary: Good basic player - Can't use home-grown DVDs
Review: This DVD player is great for those who want a basic player without spending a lot of cash. The only major drawback is the fact that it will not play DVD's that were created by an average DVD writer. If you only want to use it with "store-bought" DVDs, it is fine. If you are planning on borrowing DVDs from someone who burns them themselves, you are out of luck. Notice on the feature list: Does not play DVD-R discs

Summary: Great basic DVD player
Review: This is a great basic DVD player for the money. I'm not an expert by any means, but just wanted a good DVD player without breaking my bank account. I'm sure that those wanting very high end Audio/Video output for home theaters will want something more elaborate, but the Philips DVD710AT DVD player gives a great clear picture with nice digital dolby sound and many extra features not available on more expensive models. What a price - and free shipping to boot. If you're looking for a good, solid, basic DVD player, you can't go wrong with this unit. All in all, my kids and I are very happy with it.

Summary: IT SUCKS
Review: This is a piece of junk. I bought it becuase it seemed like a good deal. I got it and everything worked fine at first , the load times were a little slow. Then after about a month and a half it wouldn't play any discs anymore. And I hardly used it because I was just starting up my collection. Now ... won't take it back because it broke down after the 30 day time limit so I have to try and deal with the warranty company. Steer clear of this product. I'd suggest investing the money in a decent player, it may cost a little more but chances are it won't break down like this one has for me.

Summary: Excellent DVD and Superb CD player
Review: This Philips DVD player is a tremendous value. It has component, S-video, and composite outputs so it will work with the TV you have now and the TV you might buy five years from now. In addition to being an excellent DVD player, it is also a superb CD player and sounds much better than CD players that cost much more than it does. If you need a replacement CD player, buy this instead and get both a CD and DVD player. If you need a DVD player, buy this one and get a CD player that is much better than your current one, as well as a DVD player. You will hear detail, nuances, and subtle tonal qualities that you didn't know were on your CDS. I don't mean to ignore the quality of the Philips as a DVD player because it is a superb DVD player, but it will be a revelation to most people as a CD player, because they've probably never before heard how good a CD can sound until they hear one playing on this Philips.

Summary: VERY SLOW
Review: Well I have to say you get what you pay for. I own 2 other DVD players and i thought I'd buy this one for my kitchen. My 300 disc DVD player loads faster than this one. The picture does come in pretty good though. if you want an inexpensive DVD player and you dont mind wasiting then this one is the one for you. If it was my first and only DVD player I would think it was fast.
