Summary: I do NOT recommend this, Buy the DWM-370 model instead.
Review: As I stated, I cannot and will not recommend this DVD player. It really REALLY blows. Horrible. Refuses to play either of The Mummy/The Mummy Returns DVD's or the Matrix DVD as well. I brought it back after 1 day. I then purchased the Sanyo DWM-370 and it does EVERYTHING that I wanted from a DVD player. Unlike most of the other DVD players out there that offer so-called MP3 player capability, the DWM-370 is the only one I've seen so far that will actually list the Directories/Sub-directories/FULL song names! If you can find the Sanyo # DWM-370, get it before you waste your money on an Apex/Sony/etc that just don't compare. The DWM-370 has Component/S-Video, numerous sound options, video options, zoom, extremely high clarity, etc. I highly recommend the Sanyo # DWM-370

Summary: Very good to Excellent Product
Review: By and large a very satisfactory product. The lack of bells and whistles aside, the S1500 has served this consumer well for the past three months. Initial problems arising from vague or misleading instructions (the manual spends several page, - including a free-floating insert - on connecting components while failing to mention that some TV models require that the consumer push the input button in order to switch over to DVD; a one sentence instruction, if that!) were quickly solved through deduction and sober-minded common sense.

I have thus far not experienced the sorts of problems other reviewers have complained of. Perhaps the advent of wear will bear these problems out yet for the moment the performance has been exemplary.

For the price, the Fisher DVD-S1500 represents excellent value for money for one who is in the market for a starter DVD player.

Summary: Plays Everything!!
Review: Great player, very nice remote. I bought this unit because it will play picture cd's that I made, vcd's and ofcourse DVD's. Never had a problem, if it broke I would try to find another......The S1100 is a bargain!

Summary: the Fisher S1100 likes to stutter
Review: Had the worse stuttering playback on some dual layer DVDs and likes to stutter when playing PIONEER Anime DVDs for some reason. I thought I got a faulty player returned it for another Fisher S1100 & I encountered the same problems with the replacement unit.

Summary: Sounds like Fisher hasn't fixed the problems with the S1000
Review: I bought the Fisher S1000, but what it sounds like from the other reviews, they didn't fix any of the problems. First of all, the DVD player doesn't play some DVD's like Charlie's Angel. I had to do some web surfing and found out that if you buy a DVD that can play in more than one country's (Don't ask me why different countries have different codes)DVD player than it won't play on the Fisher DVD player because it only plays Region 1 (USA) DVD's. One would think it would be a good thing to have a DVD you can bring to France and it plays just as well there as in say Germany, buy the Fisher DVD player won't play it.

Another thing is I use it for playing my CD's. However, it won't play any of the CD's I burned on my Laptop. It's very disappointing spending all that time burning a CD when you can't even listen to it on a quality sound system in your home.

The reason I gave it two stars and not one is that it does play most other DVD's. I've only ran into the whole region code problem thing twice and that was when I bought the DVD's (of course I had to bring them back or give them to my mother who's DVD player plays them). And it does also play store bought CD's with no problem.

I can't comment on the picture or sound quality because I have a pretty old TV. So aside from the two problems I mentioned (which are very frustrating for me) it works well. Perhaps, if you don't want to play burned CD's and they don't make many more multi-region discs, it would be a good DVD player.
